Strength:

Clarity of sound and real cherry finish

Weakness:

heavy (but they stay in place - so that can be a good thing too)

Sound and look great. Crisp, clear highs and base is full, but not too boomy. Polk has recently really dropped the price on its RT speaker line so these are an even better value than when I bought them 9 months ago!

Strength:

Strong Sound, very clean for both music and movie's

Weakness:

Heavy

The Last speakers that i own were Infinity's, i was not quite content with them and i sold all my set. But this RT2000i rock the house and i kid you not. I would recomend these speakers to anyone who wants clear sound and built with real wood not no crapy stuff and don't listen to all this hype about more expensive speakers. Check this speakers out and check out the more high end speakers and i can tell you this, you won't hear the difference. Good Luck. This is my current set up.

Strength:

Some Transparency, Entry-Level Imaging (some depth and width) Focused Center

Weakness:

Not Airy and Open, Thin Sounding, Not Micro-Dynamic, Not Involving, Low Mids to Mids NOT emotional to almost non existant. Dull-Sounding. Sub is boomy and lacks punch due to its LOW CURRENT 50watt amp. (Check Polks site if you dont believe its only 50 watts, it says it plain as day in the spec section!!!)

System:

Denon 4800 Receiver
Toshiba 6200 DVD
Velodyne CT120 Subwoofer
Tara Labs Prism 2+2 Bi-Wire
Monster Power HTS 3500 Power Conditioner
Monster Cable 1000i Interconnects
Monster Cable 351i Subwoofer Cable
Monster Cable Digital

I started my Home Theater system off by taking a trip to my local Circuit City. That was my first mistake. My second mistake was to listen to their UNKNOWLEDGABLE salesmen. Which now in retrospective I see exactly what that says for POLK. I purchased these speakers and at the time thought that they sounded great. However, they did sound great compared to what I WAS listening to before them-- Cerwin Vega Speakers. All was fine and good until my brother-in-law let me hear his new B&W Nautilus 803's. I was amazed to discover that music could be "lifelike, Completely transparent, and enveloping". He sold me his B&W DM640's which were 8 years old. When I ran a side by side test there was NO comparison. This 8 year old $1500 (new)pair put my 6 month old $1800 Polks to shame. I immediately got rid of my Polk rears and traded them back in for a Velodyne sub at Circuit City (One brand of quality that CC actually sells) I sold off the remaining front end speakers and went out to purchase B&W speakers. I was looking at purchasing the new DM 604 S2's which MSRPed for $500 LESS then the RT 2000i's and are twice the speaker. But to my amazement I could buy in B&W's superior line of CDM for THE SAME PRICE AS THE POLKS!!! The CDM line ALL use the WORLD renowned B&W Nautilus Tweeter. I Bought my CDM 7NT's for $1800!! In my opinion and almost EVERY Hi-Fi Audio Shop out there, all Polk products belong right where they are. Being sold at CIRCUIT CITY!!! The Polk RT2000i's are like bookshelf speakers on top of poorly amplified subs in a box the weight of a bank vault!!!

Strength:

Outstanding seperation
Bass reponse
Crisp & clear highs

Weakness:

none yet

Just a quick post.... purchased rt2000i's 3 months ago. I am in love! I am hearing things on entire collection that never were there before! It really is like listening to all new cd's. Great for DVD movies as well....

Still supporting the powered subs with a seperate box, but not really necessary. More later as they continue to get broken in.

Highly recommend!!!!

Strength:

Unbelievable sound quality, extraordinary bass, great cabinet finish, good looking, excellent connectors, auto on/off subs

Weakness:

Price, weight

I am extremely satisfied with these speakers. They are an improvement over the excellent RT2000p's, and the sound is simply breath taking. Wheither it is audio CD's or DVD's, you'll hear them differently than you've ever heard them before (ignoring high-end audiophiles) with these speakers.

As the previous person said, it is like you bought a new CD collection because you are hearing things that you didn't know existed on the sound track.

The sound field is simply amazing. You just can't go wrong with these speakers for music or Dolby Digital/DTS listening.

My system includes the following:
Sony DVP-CX850D 200 DVD Changer
Sony KP-53XBR300 Projection TV
Polk RT2000i
Polk CS400i
Polk f/x 500i

NOTE: I recommend not setting the bass on the subs past the 12:00 position as you start getting too much bass muddling up the sound. I'd also recommend you use a sound level meter (avail from Radio Shack - $39.95) to balance the sound coming from your surround speakers when they are matched with these speakers.

Finally, don't be Tim Allen and buy a seperate sub when you have these power towers. I did that (Polk PSW 450i) and had to return them because you get all of the bass you could possibly want or need with these powered towers. Ignore the audiophiles who say you need a seperate sub for your LFE's, because these do an excellent job handling your LFE's. (and yes, they have a LFE in & out so you aren't missing out on the .1 channel).

Strength:

Powerful bass.

Weakness:

Heavy.

I just brought these speakers on 10/6/00. I have the rose finish, which is beautiful. I am very please with the sound overall. They have a lot more bass than I originally thought. That is ok cause I like to feel the rumble when I watch a DVD or listen to a CD.

My current system, which is in constant change:

Sony 53XBR300
Toshiba 2109 DVD Player (to be replaced w/Toshiba SD9200)
Pinnacle Classic Gold Center (to be replaced w/Polk CS1000P)
Altantic Tech. 250.1 Rears (to be replaced w/Polk f/x1000)
Sony ES9000 Preamp
ATI 1505 Amp
Sony 200 CD Changer
Infinity 150 watt sub.
AR 140 watt sub. (as I said I love bass)

Though these speakers are very heavy at 86 pounds each (shipping weight), they are solidly made. One LFE input (which I am using) and one output. The sound is crisp, clean and I hear no audible hum from the built in amps (which can deliver up to 200 watts each). I have the volume set at the halfway point.

This is my first pair of Polks and I am very satisfied, so far. I highly recommend them.

Strength:

Sound quality, build quality, hook-up flexibility

Weakness:

only that the level knob is on the back vice front, but not a big deal

Excellent speaker! very detailed sound. Recommended hookup- use receiver main preout (not lfe) to speaker pre-in. Poor mans bi-amp solution. Receiver powers high/mid, speaker powers subs. There are other speakers out there that are just as competitive as far as sound quality, but you wont be disappointed with these. Clean-warm sound coming from-Denon AVR-4800 and hk DVD5 combo. Highly recommended if you can get below retail cost. Fair price is about $750 each. The rest of my system consist of:

polk cs-400i
polk psw140
infinity rs3 (rears)
hitachi 53sbx rptv
denon cd
