Strength:
Sound, size, looks, speaker configuration.
Weakness:
None so far. For reasons similar to Ed, I too had R50's. My wife and I were shopping for surround speakers and we stopped into CC to test out the Polk FXi30's (on sale for $169 ea). I noticed that the RTi70's were on sale. I knew how both the 50's and 70's sounded, since we listened to both when we bought the 50's and the 70 is a lot better speaker! I just couldn't afford them at the time! I don't want to turn this into a CC add but they have a great program where you can upgrade by bringing in recently (less than a year old) purchase speakers and you can upgrade by paying the difference. That means for the price I paid for the R50's plus less than $100 bucks more and I'd get the RTi70's. I consider this to be one of the best deals I've made in a long time. They sound and look a heck of a lot better than the R50's. BTW we also bought the FXi30's so we ended up with two new sets of speakers for just under 500 bucks and the R50's for trade. Our entertainment center has never sounded so good. Music is crisp and clear and the 70's even have some fairly good bass. (we DO have a sub). My wife and I are mostly hard rock music fans and we've owned Bose and Cerwin Vega and the RTi70's are a better looking and sounding than our 601's and D1E's. Great speakers at a great value. I can see us sticking with Polk for good long time. Similar Products Used: Sony SA-WM40, Polk CSi30, Polk FXi30, Bose 601 Series III, Bose AM-5 Series II, Cerwin Vega D7E |

Strength:
Great sound and good looks.
Weakness:
None for speakers at these prices We recently added a large (16x24) to our house and I wanted a sound system for music only. I purchased a HK 3470 receiver and an Onkyo DXC380 changer. At first I had Polk Audio R50 speakers but I found the sound lacking. Consequently, I returned them for the RTi70's. Suffice it is to say that I well pleased. The bass is well pronounced. So much so that I don't feel the need for a sub. The highs are bright and true. Mid range is more than adequate and far superior to the JBL LX500's that I have upstairs. (In fact I'm so impressed with Polk Audio that I'm replacing those JBL's with Polk Audio's LSi9 bookshelf speakers.) My music tastes are eclectic, from Van Morrison to Jimmie Dale Gilmore; from classic rock, to jazz to alt-country. In many cases I'm hearing things in my CD's that I've never heard before, thanks to the RTi70's. |

Strength:
Rich mid and highs. Great at all volume levels.
Weakness:
None for the money We shopped long and hard before we picked these speakers. We tried Bose and Infinity. Our problem was limited funds and a cathedral ceiling in our family room. These other speakers tended to be muted or lost in this room. The RTI70's were the answer! When we tried them out a local shop we found that they sounded 99.5% as good as the RTI100's but at a much more reasonable price. And they sound just as good at home. If you are looking for a speaker that has the ability to blow your hair back and yet has the ability to fill a room with rich sound (especially evident at the mid and high ranges) at all volume levels, then you should give these a try. In short, they compare nicely to much more expensive speakers. Similar Products Used: Infinity Bose |

Strength:
Great visual appeal. Surprisingly good bass, unbelievable mids and high's.
Weakness:
None, they're the best! These towers are ming blowing! I didn't think Polk could get any better, but they proved me wrong with the RTi 70's. I was going to buy the Infinity IL60's, that would have been a mistake. These Polks are so clean you think there's a few tweets in there with about 10 mid-bass's. I would have had no regrets paying full price for these, they're still an awesome value. I cannot say enough about these, except for on thing. BUY THEM!!! Strength:
Inexpensive Decent sound
Weakness:
The fit 'n finish aren't great, but consistent with the competing products. I was greatly surprised when I heard the RTi70s. I had just ended a disappointing audition of the B&W DM-603 S3. The B&W had a slight "cupped-hands" midrange coloration and every vocalist had an "EEEEEEEEEE" sound added to sibilants. I thought I was through listening to speakers, until I walked into the electronics superstore that I normally regard as a leper colony. I still don't know why I decided to give the Polks a listen. First, the mids were much less colored than the B&Ws The highs weren't bright and the bass was tight enough (in a loose, cheaply construced box way) that I didn't run out of the "Listening Room." Overall, a pleasant surprise and after listening to several CDs, I brought them home. Similar Products Used: NHT, Paradigm, B&W |
