The Alphas are almost unbeatable at the price. Airy sound, good soundstage, good definition--a bit weighted toward the treble, but not disturbingly so (ie, a treble control with provide adequate compensation). Bass extension is light, as you would expect from a speaker of this size, and a bit loose (6 ohm impedence probably contributes) but the bass dropoff is natural sounding and doesn't sound lacking except by comparison. Excellent performance on small orchestral pieces, baroque, light rock, or acoustic music. Somewhat less satisfactory and lacking punch on very large symphonic pieces or hard rock.

I must say I have been very pleased with my Alpha's. I started with 4 and a 100c center along with a Velodyne 8/10 subwoofer, as my Pro Logic system, and the sound was beyond my expectations! I run a retail store and decided to move my front Alpha's(along with the passive Alpha Sub) to my store and replace my fronts with the PSB 500's. Pure lisenting pleasure at home and a ton of compliments from my customers when they shop my store.
