Crytal clear sound, Build, soundstage, bass,price............

Just a note to inquirey minds, I have been pushing the golds with a Denon 3300 now for months, and the sound Iam getting is excellent. All that talk about powering 4 ohm speakers with a denon would cause alot of problems, shutting down, overheating just did not happen!, Yes, I would get better results using separates instead of my Denon 3300, but the sound Iam getting is unreal.
I have the golds 22" on each side of my RPTV, I get no interference from the golds. This shows how well constructed the golds are, these speakers don't need to be shielded for Home Theater use. The Goldi's are keepers! You get flagship speakers at a fraction of the price!, you would have to spend 3 times the money to improve the sound, and when you email me for my Canadian shipper, he will give you an internet discount, and usa customers will get 40% off just with the exchange! email for me for info.
Oh, Iam one happy customer!

Strength:

VERY GOOD 3D IMAGE, , ENOUGH BASS, VERY GOOD MIDRANGE UNBEATABLE PRICE TO PERFORMANCE RATIO

Weakness:

CAN'T FAITHFULLY REPRODUCE METALLIC SOND.NEED VERY HIGH QULALITY AMPS TO DRIVE, BIG SPEAKERS, NEED A BIG ROOM. COMPRESSED DYNAMIC, COMPRESSED SOUND FIELD,LACK OF AIR AND DETAIL(HALL FEELING AND THE HARMONICS).LIMITED BANDWITH (BELOW 45HZ)AND TOP END DETAILS, LITTLE BIT TIGH AND GRAINDY,A LITTLE BIT SLOW.

AUDITED THESE SPEAKERS IN A STORE WITH 4K MONO AMPIIERS , PRETTY IMPRESSIVE WITH THE 3D IMAGE THAT YOU CAN SEE.(BUT IT IS SMALL) SUPRISED BY THE HIGH LIST PRICE ,BUT THEN WENT TO HI-FI SHOW A MONTH LATER IN SF AND FOUND OUT IN THE SAME PICE RANGE ITS A HARD TO BEAT DEAL.
HOWEVER, AFTER TRIED THE BRONZE AND SLIVER DRIVEN BY DENON AND YAMAHA 997 RECEIVERS WITH VERY GOOD RESULT, SALESMAN LEAD ME TO THE LOCKED HIGH-END SHOW ROOM WITH ONLY THAT GOLD SPKS IN IT, (ROOM IS SMALL: 20X23)I SPEND 30 SEC TO LISTEN AND WALKED AWAY. ITS THE WORST HI-FI EXPERENCE IN MY LIFE. NO DYNAMIC , MUDDY, DULL BOOMY AND NO SOUNDFIELD...JUST NO NOTHING VERY TERRIBLE.
LOOKED AT THE EQUIPMENTS, CD, AMP AND PRE EACH PIECE COST 2K(US). THE AMP HAS 120WATT.
CONCLUSION: VERY GOOD SPKS BUT NEED VERY HIGH END, HIGH POWER EQUIPMENT TO CONTROL. NEED A TREATED BIG ROOM TO FULLY RETRIVE AND BALANCE THE MUSIC IN IT ,NOT SUITABLE FOR MOVIES. SLIVER IS MUCH MORE ROOM AND EQUPMENT FRIENDLY.
IF YOU EXPECT LIVE, FILLED THE ROOM HUGE,ENERGETIC, TRANPARANT SOUND , (WHICH IS CRISY,AIRY,DETAIL POWERFUL) THEN IT NOT YOUR CUP OF TEA
IF YOU LIKE VERY HI-FI LIKED SOUND >AND DON'T MIND THE AN IT IS WELL BALANCED AND ADEQUATE.
PROBABLY THE BEST SPK BELOW 2.5K FOR SMALL SCALE IN A ROOM MUSIC. RELATIVELY NO MAJOR UNBEARABLE FLAW.
re: IT IS A BIG,WIDE SPEAKER SO YOU CAN HEAR IT IS BLOCKING THE SOUND

The person using the name Bee is obviously
a flat out lair with a hidden agenda. No,
these 2500.00 speakers are not the best
there are but they are fine speakers. Finer
than the average person is accustomed to
hearing. To give this speaker 1 star, a
speaker that has been in the Stereophile
recommended components list for nearly 10
years is dishonest and belittles the effort
put forth by others who have given their
sincere opinions on hifi eqiupment. Bee
grow up. I suspect these speakers are much
better than the one you own and you can not
live with yourself!!!

4ohm impedence might require some to replace lower current amplifiers, other then that nothing

Well I finally broke down and decided to audition the Stratus Gold-i's this week. After doing some homework on their capabilities, specs and what others had to say I decided I would go have a listen.

I had just listened to the Polk Audio RT2000p's which were on sale for almsot 1/2 the cost. I went into the audio store thinking that this speaker would have to impress me a great deal in order to justify the price tag compared to some of the other speakers I listened to in the $2k range.

As soon as it began to play (solo saxophone) I was in awe. I was completely blown away by how clear and effortless this speaker sounded. The sweet spot was huge, the midrange/treble had a sparkle (but not harsh) that the other lesser speakers did not have, and the bass response was beyond impressive. Tight and controlled.

Then I decided to turn them up a bit.. "effortless" is the word I would use to describe these speakers. As the volume level went up the tonal balance did not change.. everything was still just as dynamic, and clear and the bass stillr emained controlled without a hint of boominess or strain. There is no question in my mind I am buying these speakers. I would like to hear any speaker in this price range that can perform as well as the stratus gold-i's on all types of music. There is just no sacrifice at all with this speaker.

I would DEFINITLY recommend you give this speaker an audition if your looking for anything in the $2k-$5k range and have a wide variety of musical tastes.

Great review Tim. You are a dope. I seriously doubt you own any of the equipment you mentioned. You more likely have a similar priced speaker (Hales, Vandersteen, or something along those lines) and would like others to think you opinion is worth something. No "avid audiophile" would ever make such a ridiculous comparison much less the silly (immature) remarks. Period. Go fish for comments somewhere else.

Weakness:

Too many !!!These speakers are a fraud !!

I am an avid so called audiophile. It's unfair to compare these speakers to my Wilson Watt/Puppies VI and Snell Reference A speakers, but these PSBs' don't even compare 25% of these speakers. I read the review and was sucked into the trap of hype for budgeted speakers. Even though I bought these at 50% off list the value still wasn't there. I put them in my home theater, and they could barely hold there own. The imaging is dull, the soundstage is narrow, the vocals are flat and colored. The better equipment you put on these speakers, the more you can hear how bad, and unlife sound they have. Simply put, I was trapped and wasted $1400, and would of been better off donating these speakers to the Deaf,Dumb and Blind. These speakers should be sold at Price Clubs or better yet in WALMART. People, try some good equipment on these speakers, and you'll understand what I am saying.

-Very accurate speakers-Powerful bass
-unfortunately the plastic trim that surrounds the driver rims
tends to vibrate (discovered while measuring my studio's acoustical
response) As well the hex bolts holding the drivers had loosened.
For their high price, I expected good sound and good build....I only
received one.

I tried everything to like the Stratus Gold speakers. But for three months I endured a very boomy bass which I could not tolerate. After many late night sessions with my local expert, I decided they just could not work in my room. I am now using Linn Tukans, a very much smaller speaker, which works in my 14x28 room with 9 ft. ceilings much better. I know the speakers are great and can sound much better than this, but they are very "room sensitive"

This is a well-designed, good all-purpose speaker. I can understand whymany like them. They do a competent job at almost everything, with maybe
a bit too much warmth in the 40-60Hz region.

Wouldn't rank them as one of the top 5 speakers in the $2000-$3000 price
range, but wouldn't fault anyone for buying them.
