Weakness:
no detail, too big, fuzzy sound. I wanted to love these speakers. I've read so many positive reviews about the Revel line that I thought for sure I'd immediately fall head over heels for this floorstander and unfortunately the exact opposite happened. This has to be the largest floorstander relative to specs that i've seen. What's worse, to me, is the sound. Muddy, soft, no details compared to other speakers I've listened to and the only way i can describe it is to call it a "soft" sound. some people may love this, i did not. in a side by side comparison to a set of quad's of similar price the quads beat them in every aspect. for reference they were run with a primaluna tube amp (pro2). |

Strength:
Extended, tuneful lows, accurate midrange, detailed highs. Clean crossover points. No love hump on the low end. Broad sound stage. Musical. Detailed without sounding etched; never strident or glassy when played loud. Easy to drive and fills 1,200 square feet with loud, clean music. Efficient. Well made. Just as impressive with movie dialogue and soundtracks as with music.
Weakness:
Nothing to gripe about for the price. Been an audio/video nut since the 70's and owned more gear than I can recall. The F12's replace NHT Classic 3's, which, though exceptionally refined, were too inefficient to fill more than 500 sq. ft., with big sound and never would play loud enough to shake the paint. The F12's hit me (us) in all the right places: musical from top to bottom, efficient, can fill a large space, will romp-n-stomp or reproduce with delicacy, and sound just as good with movies as with music. Yes, the F12's are monkey coffins, but damn fine boxes, nonetheless. Money well spent.
