I'm a power user who bought these 26 years ago. They had been on a number of amplifiers like Harmon k, Nikko, Adcom. Lesser power amps like newer receivers don't push them well in lower frequencies though the receivers claim high power so I added a Cerwin Vega sub to help. Still feeling unsatisfied after all that, I retired the newer receiver and broke out the Legendary Yamaha M-85 power amp and matching preamp and hooked up them Sansui Sp-z9ii speakers. Turned it on and Boom! The speakers came to life as they were meant to. I gave up using this gear for years so I can use newer surround sound gear but that stuff don't have the old school power like older gear. Also amazing how the old gear Sat unused for decades and works as the day it was originally purchased and in some cases is worth more. Needles to say I'd buy 2 more of these Sansui's if I could. Woofers are coated with a polymer to last and cloth type surround instead of foam so they don't rot. Weakness:
No cons on these. Price Paid: 250
Purchased: Used

Strength:
Absolutely amazing soundstage and treble reproduction.
Weakness:
I own the only set I have ever seen, I would love to have another pair This model of speaker (SP 3700) has two sets of twin horn tweeters, a midrange, and a woofer. One tweeter pair shoots its sound out of the top of the cabinet. These speakers are amazing, and have the best sound for classical music and opera I have ever heard. They are smaller than Klipschorns, but have the same quality of sound. This model only marketed in Japan, an not made in large quantities. They sound better for opera, jazz, classical, and non death-metal music than my SP Z911 ste I was using previously. I have set up a pair of SF-1 speakers in the back of the room, and have tried several amp and receivers with this combo, all of which sound better than they did with any other speaker. I was taking out the trash one day and i found a pair of sansui sp-z7s just sitting next to the dumpster. there was no one around so i threw them in the back of my jeep and took off. both the mid ranges didnt work so i replaced them but everything else works like mint. no scratches on the boxes, no foam rot, the only thing bad with them was the mid ranges. i use them now at college, point them out the window and rock my whole quad with them all night. they are the best speakers i have ever owned and cant find anything better. i also found a pair of Ohm model E speakers a few weeks later at the same place, these speakers are in 100% working order and are in mint condition. |

SP ZPII- 6 spkr 5 way-AWESOME speaker for the money. I was torn between these and the DBX soundfield I's. The "HOT" BOSE 501 series couldn't come close to sound quality in their best dream. For the price these are speakers without peers. Peak power is 320w/ spkr and when driven with the Yamaha M-80 amp in conjuntion with a DBX 4 and Carver C-9, they couldn't sound better. After 17 years of Hard rockin abuse they look and sound just as good as the day they were purchased. Even after bouncing around the world with a military man for 10 of those years. |

I have had the sp-z7's for almost twenty years. I have had several stereos powering them throughout the years and never bought new speakers because I couldnt find any that sound better. With my current setup and DBX range expander the sound is exquisite. Too bad they dont manufacture them anymore or I'd buy another set. |
