Strength:

smooth, transparent, natrual, milky, creamy, detailed, lush.
warm, timbral acuracy, sweet, f***ing superb.

Weakness:

zilch, none, nentye.

The Sonus faber electa amator 2s are the most sweetest lushest most natrual speakers I have heard.
The only way you can get this kind of perfomance out of these speakers is to have a beautiful valve amp connected with pure silver calbles and and have a well acousticed room.
My system consists of

Proceed pdt transport
audio reasearch valve preamp
vimak ds1800 da converter
kraft 100 pure class A power amp
audio quest diamond interconnect
p.s.c pure silver cable interconnect
audio quest dragon speaker cables
240 mains dedicated line
and of course sonex foam behind the rear wall and side walls
to stop first order reflections and to stop some reverbiration.

I listen to contemporary jazz, acoustic guitar, trumpet, sax, female vocals and male vocals.

contemporary jazz-gregg karakus, fatt burger, micheal franks
acoustic guitar-peter white
trumpet-chriss botti
sax-kirk whalum
female vocals-patricia barber, celione dion, miriah carey
male vocals-jonathan butler, brian culbertson

Listen to this music on sonus faber electa amator 2s
it will make you cry, give you goose bumps allover.
Music threw these speakers are like nothing in this world.
I love music and I love music threw the heavinly SONUS FABERS ELECTA 2S.

Strength:

Naturalness, dynamics, sound like real music not hi-fi

Weakness:

Sub 35 Hz bass and that's all

These are the most natural speakers that I've heard. They sound like real music, beeig very revealed but extremely well integrated. They don't have the scale of Revel F30, but are more musical, controled and involving. They let you hear the music not the sound and so it is a speaker of true.
They are not very difficult in electrical terms but they need a very good and powerfull amplifier to get the most aou of them.

Strength:

Extremely well intergrated drivers. Solid build. Sonically excellent.Easy to drive.

Weakness:

Not as beautiful as SF Guarnieri Homage !
Lacks extreme bass (sub 35Hz)

Essentially neutral with a hint of warmth.
There's no harshness, grain or other significant sonic artifacts.
Added to this the soundstage is excellent, instrument localisation and air being particularly well reproduced.

This is a highly desirable speaker.

Superb build quality coupled with heavy duty ScanSpeak drivers adds up to a superior (small) monitor.

The SF Electa Amator II should be on everyones shortlist.

These speakers are truly excellent. If I hadn't heard the Sonus Faber Amati Homage, I would give the Electa Amator IIs 5 stars.
However, I am giving them 4 stars.
The Electa Amator IIs lose some of their virtues when attempting to reproduce full range orchestral music.
However, they never sound anything less then engaging.
They are very musical and at $6,000, they are a good value.

Strength:

Beautifully balanced, involving and musical speaker. Bass is suprisingly deep and always tight, midrange to die for, nicely detailed and smooth highs.
GORGEOUS looks! Very high WAF

Weakness:

Need the expensive ($900.00 !!!) adjustable stands to sound their best.

These speakers are amazing! What really striked me from the very beginning (I got them used for a good price so they were already nicely broken in) was their naturally balanced and liquid sound. The mids are rich and truly palpable, highs never sound shrill or overly bright but smooth and detailed. The bass is much better than what you might expect from such relatively small boxes: deep (I measured 32 Hz at -3dB in my listening room) and fast.
These speakers are excellent with all sorts of music, but absolutely shine with string instruments and piano as well as vocals.
The only caveat: the matched adjustable walnut and iron stands are absolutely essential (I found they should be raised to 27" to sound best) but come at a hefty premium.

Strength:

Gorgeous look, Musical sound, EISA award, don't forget the wood-stone speaker stand

Weakness:

Too long run-in time, at least 2 months

When I unpack the speaker and play for the first time, i want to throw it out of my window cause the sound is too awful.

But after continuous run-in for 2 months, the sound has turned to become more soft and musical. Much better than the Minima Amator and Electa i used before.

This speaker is also looks like a furniture in your house with the original wood-stone speaker stand.

Highly recommended.

Strength:

Sounds like the real thing. Involving.

Weakness:

Extreme low end.

This is an extremely musical speaker, with a smooth midband and highs, detailed but integrated as if music came from one unit. It as a very large soundstage and can involve the listener in to the musical event. Very well made and controled. Only at the very bottom one can ask for more energy, it goes down, very deep indeed but with low energy. To listen to 95% of music (that as nothing below 60 - 70 Hz), is one of the more musical speakers ever made.

Strength:

Very musical

Weakness:

None so far

I recently bought the SF Amator II along with the excellent Gravis sub and result is simply amazing.Everything a music lover wants is there.Fluidity of sound, timbral accuracy ,dynamics and above all it involves the listener to the music.A loudspeaker should be good in all types of music and such a speaker is the Amator II ,well done Sonus.

Special thanks to Mr Chadjidimitriou ,Sonus Faber local dealer for his help setting up this amazing combo.

Strength:

characteristic SF smootness

Weakness:

Drier than Mk I, Mk II Not as intense sounding or as detailed as the older version

Description:
The MK I used the top of the line and very costly Esotar 330 tweeters and a coated doped paper cone specially made for them by dynaudio , SF have since switched to scanspeaktweeters and woofers for the mk II which are much easier to drive and have added a passive radiator instead
of the bass port.

Components:
Brought the MK IIs to a friends place. He was and is still is using the MK I. The rest of his components are CAT preamp, spectral power amp and MBL digital.

Listening:
I hope Sonus Faber realise that they have a mistake by discontinuing the MK I. Comparatively,The Mk I offers much more detailed highs as well as being fuller sounding. The Mid bass of the MK I was more explosive and had more slam. The only upside of the mk 11 was that it was much easier to drive than the first version and much more forgiving. No doubt that the mk I is current hungry and the tweeter can be slightly unforgiving but in terms of resolution, the EA I is superior.

Speaking to some SF gurus, they tell me that the esostar
330(also used in the SF guaerneri and Revel speakers is one of the finest tweeters period. However, Dynaudio are cutting back selling of parts to manufacturers, preferring instead to Bolster their own line spkrs hence the switch to scan speak.

I also managed to try it agst a pair of traded in Pro Ac 2,5's. The EA II's were richer but had less slam the the Pro Ac;s, a compromise because of its cabinet size.
Overall my impressions are This MK II is a good speaker, smooth and fairy detailed and forgiving but still I believe a manufacturer should always strive to make a spkr that is sonically better than the older version.

Electa Amator I ***** stars
Electa amator II ***3/4 stars
Pro Ac 2.5 **** stars
AF Virgo ***i/2 stars (quirky bass and very dry sounding)
