Weakness:

Weaker mid range, ludicrously expensive stands.

Very satisfying purchase. No doubt they will stand for a while is my room. Even my wife liove the design!
Mids should be empowered with additional system to improve overall sound quality.

Strength:

Amazing overall sound quality. Great deep bass from a sub that is just beautiful. Swappable Blue & White speaker covers that look awesome.

Weakness:

None

For the money you can't get a better system. Just find someone that has a set and just pick them up and feel the overall great craftsmanship.

Strength:

Unobtrusive, wayyy cool looking, crystal clear.

Weakness:

Mid range a little weak on some music.

I really wanted the Mission 6 pack but the wife deemed these ugly. She loved the Kef pods but too expensive. So it had to be the Pascal's. Found a good price online woth free next day delivery (saved me £50.00) and, reluctantly placed my order. The box weighed a ton when it arrived on a snowy morning and the little sats nearly stuck to my hand they were that cold.

I couldn't get wall brackets anywhere so I bought some 6" diameter round glass shelves to mount them on - looks good.

Wired them up to my Denon 1100RD and all criticism evaporated. These speakers are superb for the money. I auditioned JBL and Bose and these leave them standing. The sound is rich at most levels and Dolby Digital is incredible - i can't believe I thought my original old Dolby Pro Logic setup was good. They match my Philips 32" as if they were designed for each other. A little bit is missing musically but not enough for me to be concerned about.

I bought them on the strength of the unbiased reviews i read here after reading one audiophile magazine review absolutely trashing them. Real people's opinions matter so thanks to everyone who posted here.

Strength:

Size, quality, depth of sound field

Weakness:

Speaker cables are far too short.

My first choice for home cinema speakers where those from the B&W range, but due to their size they just weren't going to get into the flat past the Mrs. So I agreed to compromise and go for a satellite speaker package. My fist choice were the Bose AM15's which on first listen sounded great. At £1,000 ($1,400) they seemed expensive but we were both happy with the sound. We then, just for comparison listened to the Sony Pascal 705's. The difference was astounding. The Bose seemed to lack a huge amount of mid range, they had lots of highs and lows put no real depth. The Bond movie, the World is not Enough, sounded dead on the Bose compared to the Sony product. Also, being half the price the Sony was snapped up on the spot. The only reservation I had with the Sony Pascal system was with the lack of bass. That said when I set the system up at home I found that the bass was so deep I couldn't set it higher than about a 1/3 in fear of the upsetting the neighbours.

All in all, for a home cinema speaker package destined for the average size living room you couldn't really ask for much more than the Sony Pascal. It sounds equally as impressive with either music or film. Buy a good amp though to get the most out of it.

I bought the SAVE815ED (ED stands for Extended Definition) which are very very similar to the SAVE705s about a month back. I am using these with the Sony STRDA555ES receiver and the Sony DVD DVP535.

Home Theater has never sounded as good for me prior to buying these speakers. I tried out the Bose Home Theater speakers AM10s before I bought the Sony. The Bose is a very hyped about product and sound dull and flat for music. For movies though the Bose is quite okay but the price of the Bose speakers is 30% more than Sonys and the AM10s are not even top of the lines. The Sony sounds classic and for looks it beats most speakers in the market hands down. I was watching Heat and the first scene where the train rumbles into the station could never sound better, I am convinced.

I am planning on renting Matrix for the third time, it should be awesome.

These speakers are highly recommended for the price, looks, build quality and most of all sound.

Maybe im going to disapoint some readers now, but this is my oppinion so don't get it to personal. I baught this system much becaurse the rewiev here and the europeen award it got. I have a Pioneer DVD 717 and a Nad T770 "try this" and im very happy with these.

Im dissatisfied with the dialogue it sounds like they are speaking throw a telephone line "im going to try another center speaker" and there is a hole in the soundstage that is very annoiyng. As you can understand this was a impuls buy.

But what the heck, this speakers are the coolest in the world.

Strength:

SA-VE815ED - Small unobtrusive size; Frequency response up to 70K Hz; 150 watt active subwoofer; 140W power handling for satelites.

Weakness:

Speaker spring clips can't handle 12 gauge wire.

**** THis review is for the SA-VE815ED****
ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT I AM TOTALLY SATISFIED. These small 140 watt speakers have a heavy weight to them. They sound awesome, crisp, clear, full of detail...and have an extended definition frequency response up to 70,000 hz They handle the power I throw at them. The active subwoofer as a built 150 watt amp that is more than enough power for my home theater system. DVD's come alive and music sounds great. These speakers also look awesome. Bravo for these babies.

Strength:

superb sound from a classy little looker

Weakness:

none so far

I initially saw the sony in a magasine and loved the design and after reading the 4-5 reviews here I went for it. I've got my SA-VE705 connected up to a Denon AVR-1800 (also bought after reading the reviews here). The combination together works very well and I really can not fault the little gems. I'be been not only watching films but listening to DVD music, which sounds crisp with a thumping base. The only thing I changed with the speakers was the cheap cables it came.

bass

Saw these online and had to pick them up. Their design was far superior to all other speakers on the market. Picked them up for $521.00 since I work for Sony. Hooked them up to a Sony STR333ES and Sony DVD player. Sounds awesome. very good for action movies. The bass was a little weak so I picked up an Infinity BU-2. Works really good with the sats. Turn up the power and no distortion is heard.

Looks are beautiful

Weakness:

Sound

This system is al about volume and not quality. It's not spacious, the sattelites have nmuch too bright treble and the midrange is not expressive. The sub is ok, but with coloration. Sorry 4 some people, but if you listened to some other systems, then you might have found out that this system is no worth the money, how cheap you can get it, it doesn't matter (unless it's free :)
