Strength:

Great Full sound

Weakness:

again, the bass.

I Love them. Purchased them from Best Buy based on the reviews here. I agree that the sound is full crisp and clear. My next purchase will have to be a sub, but the bass is good for now. Wish the quality was a bit better at high volume, but can't ask for much more for the price. Excellent value.Would recommend them to anyone.

Nice all around sound

Can't handle my STR-DA555ES

These pairs of speakers are amazing! Great sound for a great price (only $110 for the pair). Even w/out my Infinity woofer, the base coming from them shakes my room. My only problem with them is that if I pump up the volume, they emit an annoying "hissing static" sound, which obviously cuts down on the quality...if there was a 4.5 rating, I'd give that, but can't...

None yet, People wont take them seriously at 100$ each.

I recently purchased a house, with the intent of building a home theater in mind. I had been using a set of Cambridge Sound works satellite speakers and subwoofer in previous apartments and such. When moving into my house and buying a Toshiba 61HX70 (61"Big Screen) and Toshiba SD-6200 DVD player, I started setting up and tweaking my home theater (dts). I noticed that no matter how much tweaking I did I couldn't get the rich, big sound that I was looking for. After reading the reviews. I listened to a pair of the 515’s next to a pair of Yamaha series of the same caliber and didn't hear a $400 difference. I am completely satisfied with my purchase. Note, I do recommend spending some time equalizing a subwoofer with the 515’s for super low frequencies. But it is definitely the most bang for your buck.

None at the moment

I find them to actually be quite a good set for the price. They sound decent without performing the mod. Which if you want to keep your warranty I wouldn't perform. But if their not under warranty what the heck couldn't hurt unless you can't solder that great which is in reality quite easy. Excellent speakers for their price and got alright bass when you turn it up. If you use them for Home Theatre might want to consider a sub to go along which would enhance certain aspects of explosions, Booms, etc...

I wasn't even planning on buyng these speakers. I was in Best Buy with a friend just browsing when I heard these playing 'Wild Wild West.' I double checked to make sure the sound was coming from these speakers. Then I double checked the price. Then I found a salesman and had a pair brought to the front of the store.
I've been using these speakers for about 70/30 music/HT. They sound great for music, esp. when you add a powered subwoofer (but they sound very good by themselves as well). These speakers probably sound better than most other speakers in the

Well, last night I picked up my pair of the Sony MF515 at Good Guys for $259.All I can say is that they are fantastic! I hooked them up to a Sony61XBR/530DVD/635Receiver with a pair of satelites in the rear and a sub. Wow!

I compared these speakers next to a pair of $499 Yamaha's and $599 JBL, and the Sony's simply blew them away in sound quality. It's hard to believe that you can get a quality speaker such as these at this price point.

Just an FYI:

Abtelectronics has the new SS-MF500H speaker, which replaces the 515, for $163, and they will refund you the shipping cost (about $23). If you go through ebates.com, you can save another 3 percent.

Anyone interested in this new speaker might consider buying through them and saving yourself the trouble of dragging the huge box home yourself (and paying tax).

The specs are mostly the same: dual 6.5" woofers, but includes the new nanofine tweeter. If I get these, I'll post a review (maybe even in two weeks!)

These speakers rock! Got them for $250 for the pair (compare to $600 for some Polks), and love them! The sound is great! Have them in a very large room with hard wood floors.

If you are like me, just want some great speakers for music and home theater, BUY THESE!!! You can spend more, get a better brand name of speaker, etc, but trust me, you wont be able to tell enough of a difference to justify spending 2-3x the amount of money!

For what it matters, I am powering mine with a Yamaha receiver (100w).

BUY THEM!

ssmf600h review
Bass, Price, Midrange, Good highs and lows.

Weakness:

Sound terible playing music with pro-logic, but hey, what speakers dont?

This is a review for the ssmf-600h....
These babys can crank out the bass so much I turn off my sub because it is bass overkill. I have the ss-mf600hs as my front speakers and have ss-mf 515s for rears. The 600h is the best buy on the market without getting into audiophile class towers. Considering the price I paid these are far supperior to most towers that cost twice as much. The midrange speakers produce good voices in ac-3 mode and the tweeters wont crack even under the highest sounds. If you are looking for quality towers without spending tons look no further....these kick a$$
