Strength:
Hard to say
Weakness:
Muddy base, lack of control and a blanketed effect with voices. The R3s did not compare to the clarity and control of the R2s. Since the R3s are £200 more expensive I do not see how these speakers can compete. I ended up buying the R2s and getting better value for money as well as purer sound quality. Strength:
Looks, bass, midrange, treble, sound
Weakness:
A little too "relaxed" Auditioned also B&W CDM1 NT's, ProAc Tablettes, and a pair of Dalis. These nice-looking floor-standing speakers are a treasure. I listen to a lot of live music and these speakers are perfect in that they forgive some deficiencies in the recording. The bass is controlled, not boomy at all, and the treble is very pleasant with all kinds of music. These are not for the high-endist but for the music-lover. Five stars and worth every dollar.
