Strength:
Good bass, solid mid and tweeter quality. I can hear every little noise, with low distortion at higher volumes.
Weakness:
Not much woofer movement, and grilles are not very well made. All around good set of affordable speakers. |

I bought these speakers from Radio Shack, and I must say that they are awesome. The woofers are 12 inches and produce exceptional sound, when hooked up to my Kenwood Reciever that pumps out 100w x2. I'll tell you, a friend of mine has Sony speakers that are rated at 200 watts peak and he actually told me that my Technics speakers sound better than his own. |

Strength:
They look kick ass!
Weakness:
They aren't! Certainly not setting the world on fire with sound quality but for the price and the right application they work just fine! I used these as my basement 'house party' speakers for years - they look big and imposing and when wired up sound comes out of them - what more do you want at this price? Bass is surprisingly present considering the woofer has hardly any travel at all and the tweeter has a kind of 'hissing' quality to it. Similar Products Used: Had some old Kenwoods before these that were almost identical in every way. |

I bought these speakers with the intention of adding more bass to my system in the 80-400 Hz range. I have a Cerwin Vega! SUB120 that creates seismic disturbances but does not do mid-bass. These speakers perform very well connected to my Technics SA-X720 home theatre receiver. The only thing that disappoints me with these SB-A28 speakers is that if I did not have a subwoofer, I would have very little thump at all. These speakers have a 12" woofer and an adequately large cabinet but produce very little low-end thunder. I feel sorry for people that do not own subwoofers. The trend in speakers seems to be going towards home-theatre only. Even speakers with large woofers do not make bass like speakers, say, ten years old do. My brother has a set of LXI (SEARS) speakers that have a 10" woofer and are about ten years old and they produce as deep a bass note as the many speakers I have listened to in the $200-600 range. |

I have an Aiwa mini system, and I to purchased these speakers because they I felt that i had insufficient bass. I brought them home, and at first, they were pretty good for the 200$ per pair i bought them for. But after a while i realized they wernt that good. They do have a 10 inch bass driver but it has jack for travel, so they dont "thump" like a big bass driver should. At least they provide more bass than my little mini system speakers did. O well, save up your money and buy something with a bit more travel. I think that when buying another set of speakers i will physically push the woofer in and out to see how much travel they actually have. I think that that determines how much they will shake the house. |

Strength:
Cheap, standard (good looking) design, 3 way, tweeter disperser, overload protection.
Weakness:
Connectors are bad, crossover so-so, weak box, bad tweeter driver, low efficient bass driver, ported box. This is the speaker to go if you don't want to spend more than $500. You can get them for $150US/pair on sale. They are better than many speakers in range for up to $500. |

Strength:
Good overall sound quality. Three-Way Speaker. 12" Woofer. Price.
Weakness:
Not much. Could have deeper bass tough (helped by a heavier cabinet) I got these speakers based on some of the specs and price. They are not as heavy as they could be to provide good sound but they sound alright. I use them as the "tower" speakers in my home theather system (All Technics, except the subwoofer). Addition of a dedicated Subwoofer is a pretty good idea as it does make a huge difference. Similar Products Used: Sony |
