There are only a handful of budget-minded audiophile entrance speakers I would heartily recommend to all newcomers.......This is one!! Totem gets it MORE than right for seven shells.. |

Strength:
Imaging, Spacial soundstage I have heard the Mites teamed with NAD C340 at a local dealer about oue hour with comparing to Staff, its floorstanding sibling but one thounsand dollars more. Mites has execllent detail pick-ups. With this price range it beats other totem speakers. Similar Products Used: Paradigm Reference 20/Titan |

none in this price range I Have owned these little gems for about 3 months now and still find them very musical and revealing. Before purchasing I auditioned all of the speakers listed above and the Totem Mite's in my opinion out performed every one of them, even the highly touted B&W DM601S2 which What Hifi rates a "BEST BUY of the Century" and various other British HiFi magazines( How come the British don't review any Canadian speakers do they think they have a monolopy). The strengths of the Totem's are their imaging/soundstage ability, the speakers tend to disappear,I've heard other mini book helfs image like the Mite's,such as the SR12 and Sr15's from Silverline and other more expensive Totem models but for the price of the Totem Mite's you can't go wrong. None These little speakers are simply awesome! The can't be beat for the price. I am presently using a pair as the side speakers in my home theatre setup. Just for grins I used them as the main R/L speakers and the sound they produced was VERY surpising. I use a pair of Totem Model-1 Signatures as my front R/L speakers and the Mites compared well to their much more expensive siblings. While not as detailed or revealing as the Model-1's, the Mites have a wonderful soundstage and a very pleasant overall sound. For the price, I don't know what other speakers compare. They need lots of power and should be used in conjunction with a subwoofer. The bass response is surpising for such a small speaker, but don't expect them to rock the house. The standard vinyl finish is OK, the more expensive wood grain would be a better choice. They also match well with the Totem Model-1's as far as timbral balance. Highly recommended! I bought mine from the Audio Shop in Toronto, a First Class shop with VERY good prices. I paid $390 US for my pair with the standard vinyl finish.
