Strength:
Incredible vocal reprodution. Very accurate, detailed and fluid mid and high range sound reprodution. Very good imaging for their size. Attractive and well constructed cabinetry.
Weakness:
None I have found yet This speaker is the one, in this price range there is just nothing better that I have heard. The soundstage is wide and deep. The detail in the music is really brought out. The bass ranges anywhere from light and detailed, depending on the music. Highs are smooth and sweet. Midrange in incredibly detailed. |

Strength:
Smooth yet detailed extended highs, liquid midrange, tight detailed bass to at least 30hz, finish is that of the finest furniture. Smooth listen to for hours and hours kind of sound
Weakness:
None except not sound good until broken in. I upgraded from the Vienna Accoustic Mozart's to the Beethoven's. Mozart's sounded just fine. All the speakers in the Vienna Accoustic Line have that same smooth beautiful sound. They use one of the finest silk dome tweeters available. All the drivers are made by a highly regarded and may be the finest driver manufacturer on the planet specifically designed for for Vienna Accoustics. They cut no corners. The crossovers have very high tolerance high quality parts. Just look at the attention to detail(try to find a seam on the corners of the grill cloth). The back, bottom, and everywhere on the speaker is finished to the highest standard.I have only seen this kind of finish on very expensive high end furniture. This kind of detail throughout makes it an extremely well rounded full range speaker. Does everything right. Give them sufficient time to break in, good electronics, and I guarantee you in nothing in its price range will touch it.If you like bass, there is no speaker I know of regardless of price that will take the place of a "good" subwoofer. I have a REL to fill in the bottom for home theater applications. For music, the Beethoven's sound fantastic by themselves. Do yourself a favor listen to these speakers before you spend your money. Anyone who says these speakers are not a good value is either using inferior electronics, lying, or just plain does'nt know what he or she is talking about. If you hear them you will know what I am talking about. One listen will convince Similar Products Used: Listened to B&W,Theil,Maggies,Ariels,Silverlines,Hales,Monitor Audio,Sonus, Vienna Accoustic Mozart's, etc. |

Strength:
The best high-frequency response my ears have experienced. Made me realize how bright my previous metal tweeters really were. Silky smooth midrange
Weakness:
Doesn't go to the lowest depths, but sounds great down to the lowest range of acoustic bass My search for speakers that produce exceptional detail without sounding the least bit bright has ended. The Beethovens are a very smooth and refined finesse speaker. Don't get me wrong, they handle Saving Private Ryan just fine, but so did my beloved Snell C/V's. Where they take it to the next level is on the Yo Yo Ma Appalachian Journey SACD, or a sultry Diana Krall recording. These speakers also create a large and deep soundstage. Strength:
Detail, warmth, dynamics, imageing
Weakness:
Lowest bass notes Nearly as much detail, as with good electrostatic speakers. More dynamic, however. And you don't have the same hassle with them as you have with electrostats. Similar Products Used: Spendor, Dynaudio Audience 9 |

Strength:
Sweet, rich, and warm
Weakness:
Maybe not best for rock 'n roll. Back in June, 1999, I submitted a review of the Beethovens and described in detail why I flet that I had to give them a compromise rating of three stars. Since then, I have found out that indeed the Vienna Acoustics factory had experienced an unfortunate fluke--a few bad bass drivers somehow made it past inspection. As a result, a handful of customers received speakers that had bass driver problems. The factory, upon realizing what had happened, immediately corrected the problem, but I was one of those customers. Instead of being willing to accept the factory's willingness to correct the problem to my satisfaction, I opted to trade the speakers in, something I now regret. I wish now to submit a proper rating for the Beethovens, based upon my newly-acquired knowledge of what really happened in my case and based upon continued opportunities to hear these glorious instruments. I do this to provide for the reader a truly accurate and unbiased rating of these extremely musical and beautiful speakers. Similar Products Used: Mozarts, Mirage M5si, Mirage OM6, Klipsch KLF 20 |

Strength:
Warm, rich midrange, sweet, delicate highs, and good bass.
Weakness:
Not the 'Knock your socks off rocker'. These speakers perform wonderfully with excellent solid state electronics. Their character seems to be rich and full bodied in the mids, with a sweet, yet detailed high. The bass is not the best I've heard, but the magic in the mids and highs more than makes up for it. With tubes, they can be a bit slow. I've had great success with a Classe CA-200, and more recently with a Threshold T 400 amp. The rosewood finish is something even my wife can't complain about (she tries though). These speakers cannot be beat for the price. I did like the Avalon Model 10T's better (same warmth, better bass), but the cost is a lot more. Similar Products Used: Legacy Classics, Sonus Faber Grand Piano, Pro Ac 2s and 2.5, Avalon Model 8B. |

Great tight Bass,(Newer model mostly) Smooth Highs
Weakness:
None After I saw the review below I had to comment. This person can't, I repeat can't be listening to the same speakers as I do.They Bass on the newer updated Models are Fantastic. They might not make the ground shutter. But, They go low enough for any Normal person!Better Bass then any Thiel! I've Demoed all The Thiels and if you like razor highs that make your ears Bleed go w/ the Thiels. If you love Smooth highs. And musical liquid mids.(What suck out is this guy talking about?)And Great tight bass that really goes down below 30 hz.Then look no farther. All I can think of. Is, it must have just been the wrong equipment tnat was to blame in this persons case. I love these speakers .as do most of the posts here. Similar Products Used: Dynaudio 3.0's,Proac 2.5's |

Strength:
Looks, Highs
Weakness:
Bass, lower mid-range, suck-out in upper midrange They look great but thats about it. The bass is shallow and the midrange is rough to say the least. The high's are nice but no real detail. The thiel cs 2.3 (3600) and new cs 1.6 (2300) blow them away. Also the alon lotus (3700) or capris (2000) are much better. Both are full and open sounding with solid bass. The thiels can be bright but with good electronics, they sound great. I, personally, don't like B&W but even they sound better then these. Really dissapointed overall. Take a listen for your self but make sure to check out the rest of the competion before bying, you may, like me, be really surprised by thiel and alon's offerings. Bass! On the newer updated Model. Highs!
Weakness:
None Just a Short note. I too, had to comment on the post below. It had to be the equipment this person had the beethovens hooked up to. He described a totally Different speaker then most of us have on this site.As with most great speakers. If you feed them w/inferior equipment .They will let you Know! |
