Strength:

Big sound for a small-medium floorstander.

Weakness:

none for the price n finish

I was quite suprised when I heard the first note from these speakers.Put a smile on my face straight away. The background was very silent and the sound was big and very clear, especially mid to treble.
The bass was also good considering their size(who said size matters eh,eh,aarh?).The bass hasn't got the impact the vr40's have but it goes low and you can certainly feel the bass.Pretty impressive indeed.
I listened to them in a very large room which makes it even more suprising. They had some expensive EAD gear behind em so I dont know what they'd sound like with a reciever or less expensive gear.
These are certainly speakers I will go back to and have another listen with some familiar cd's.
So if your looking for a smallish floorstander with a great sound at a reasonable price go have a listen to these little beauties.

Strength:

Reproduction of male and female vocals that cannot be beat; Soundstaging and imaging; Total lack of listener fatigue; Furniture-grade cabinet quality; Deep and extended bass.

Weakness:

None

I purchased the Vienna Acoustics Bach speakers, loved them, and then decided two weeks later to go the extra $1,000 for the $2,500/pair Mozarts because I knew I would eventually upgrade for them and could at the time get full trade-in value. What a speaker the Mozart is. I have never heard better reproduction of vocals (male or female). Soundstaging and imaging are remarkable. Bass response is very pleasing, even though I have not sand-filled the bases (a bass-tweaking option provided by VA). Nearfield and distant listening are equally enrapting, and listener fatigue is not a possibility. Modern state-of-the-art recordings and vintage blues recordings are equally enthralling. My CD collection now sounds entirely new and vastly improved. My Mozarts are in the black finish, and the cabinets are of exquisite furniture quality and the most beautiful I've seen. The Mozarts could well be my final speakers, given the size of my listening room and that I plan to never move again. Another big plus about the Mozarts (6.7" x 37" x 11.6") are their wonderfully small footprint, enabling them to integrate unobtrusively into any room, and at present I am driving them with a very modest 60-watts-per-channel Denon receiver that proves the Mozarts very amplifier-friendly.

Strength:

Build quality, driver integration

Weakness:

Vienna dealers are hard to find and their product is not as well known as it should be.

First a comment about the review below .... why would anyone buy a product that they felt was so obviously flawed and then spend a year!! along with 30+!! equipment changes trying to find an amplifier/front end combo to use with this speaker??

Anyhow, to my ears the Vienna Mozarts are a supremely uncolored speaker. They have a coherence from top to bottom that is unmatched in their price range ($2500/pr new). They will play all types of music well, with the exception of bass heavy techno music (twin 6" drivers will only move so much air). They offer high sensitivity and a relatively smooth impedance. Their size makes them easy to integrate in most listening/living rooms and the finish is impeccable. All in all a fine pair of loudspeakers.

Strength:

Voices are sharp warm and accurate. Excellent imaging-soundstage, size and detail of craftmanship, fast, tight mids, above average bass response from such a small floorstander. Excellent value

Weakness:

bass gets sloppy below say 50hz or so when cranked up to obscurity and beyond, use common sense

After a year I'm still in love. Took me a long time to make
a purchase.
Revel Performa sounded beutiful would be my second choice(a little bulky looking is weakness)

B&K Nautilus(over priced for what you get, but still great
speakers-weakness I don't prefer the sound stage they throw with that tweeter,,,just opinions here)

Sonus Faber(seems to have an echo effect on voice, something I don't prefer, like omnipolar speakers have)

Mozarts
Old world craftsmanship with 21 century technology
Soundstaging once set up is like performer is in your living room.
Just a great little bargain bang for your buck speaker.
The All Star team player on your speaker teams lineup
No, not the home run hitter who strikes out twice as much
Not the man on the DL list
Not the highest paid player on the team
The speaker you got at a good price in the draft an pulls the team in for the big win. (If a real person, would ask for more cash when contract was up.
I also teamed up a Rel Stadium, cause I wanted the biggest balls on the block thats why. Listen to OK Computer and the spaceship has landed on you stereo.
I'm happy to say I no longer need drugs to see vision's or audible "special effects".
Now for the fun part

Dear

Reader

Sorry for the short time span between my last review. I have been "Tuning" my Mozarts for the last 144 hours. Below are my findings.

This speaker is great at the top and mid sections of the audio spectrum, but did you know that they are also quite good to 40 Hz?

Can 30 reviews be wrong?

I tested these speakers with three amps, which have been listed below.

Classe CAP 101 (100wpc). Nice smooth sound with a limited soundstage. The bass was light and not well defined.

Classe CAP 151 (150wpc). Very good soundstage, and natural sound. The bass was well defined and had a "Hint of Slam".

Clasee CA 201 (200wpc). Excellent soundstage, and natural sound. The bass was very well defined, and had some real "Slam". Koetsu Black?

The fact is that the Mozarts work better with bigger amps. My CJ MV 100 was sloppy on the bass, Hence it's demise. Try AR, Classe, Krell, ML, and Pass Labs 100-200wpc products on the Mozarts. You will be impressed.

Cables do play a part, but good Kimber, MIT, and Monster should do just fine.

I did some testing on line filtering devices, and chose the Monster Cable HTS1000. The top end became more extended, and the midrange was even more natural. This is a low line product, but it made the Mozarts sound better. Please ask your dealer to lend you two or three of these units for trial. You will be pleased with the results.

I listen to a broad range of music, and below are my two bass test CD's.

Bill Evans - Waltz for Debby (Riverside DCD-9399-), 20-bit.

John McLaughlin - Que Alegria (Verve 837 280-2).

Please note that twenty five pounds of lead shot worked better than thirty pound of sand. I was able to get more "Bite" on strings with lead vs sand.

The Mozarts are a great product, but they require some time and effort from the owner to reach their Zenith. They are not perfect, but at $2,500 a pair, they a a true high-end value.

Below is my current setup.

Denon DVD 3300
Monster Cable M1000i
Classe CAP 151
Monster Cable M2.2s
Vienna Mozarts

Tandberg TT3011A
Monster Cable M950i

Monster Cable HTS1000

The Mozarts have the ability to provide the owner with decent bass down to 40Hz. LaFARO and Mingus sound fine, and the Mozarts deliver the goods on the kings of the four string instument.

Enjoy!

Strength:

Awesome Voice Control,Rosewood Cabinets look breathtaking,Mid-range is crystal clear,Out of box sound

Weakness:

Could go a little deeper in bass

This speaker is one of the very few I've heard in this price range, that give you an out of the speaker sound. They just have a knack for filling the room up with first rate sound! I'm the type of person who demands my system to give great 2 channel sound and great home theater sound. What I found out quickly was, they could handle both without a single problem. I won't bore you with the specs or the mumbo-jumbo many audiophiles try to tell you (so they sound like they know what their talking about). Simply put, you must hear these speakers for yourself. Trust me when I say this, I put speakers through an exstensive test before I buy them.Hours of listening to music-all ranges- Classical,Rock, and Jazz. Then I put them through the movie test-Saving Private Ryan-Gladiator-Fifth Element-U571.All I can say is, this is the first speaker that I have come across that can handle all the above without any strain at all. Plus one of the most important parts of any movie or song is the vocals. Let me tell you, the voices on these speakers are incredible-a couple of times I was floored by the realism- in fact I can't explain it in words!! And as for David Paris( A Reviewer on this page)you must be brain dead or deaf-you have no right to give these speakers a one star rating. My take on that rating is:
1. You never listened to these speakers
2. You probably own a pair of bose speakers
3. You do your Hi-Fi shopping at Radio Shack
4. You tried pushin them with a 10watt per channel amp
To all you serious researchers, I have one thing to recommend- Go listen to them for yourself- then you will buy them-then you will be posting the same message I am.
HAPPY SHOPPING!!!

Smooth and Open

Bass below 55hz

Dear

I am now working at home, and have the time to dive deep into the these speakers. Recently, I was listening to the Mozarts, and unimpressed with the overall sound or pace. The 25 pounds of lead shot (#8) did not provide the "Slam" needed. I then added six more pounds of shot, and raised the speakers 1/4" off the carpeting. The front to back axis was adjusted accordingly, and a surprise took place, which has been listed below.

Rock solid placement (space)
Solid bass down to 55hz

Foundation and pace improved with the additional lead shot. Listed below are my current findings.

Top. Extended with very good detail (B+)

Mid. Open and smooth (B)

Low. Nice extension down to 55hz (B-)

Tone. Spot On (B+)

Sound Stage. Wide and High (B)

This speaker is not state of the art like the B&W Signatures, but the Mozarts are a very good value in this price range. Below is my current setup.

Classe CDP .3
Monster Cable M1000i (XLR)
Classe CAP 151
Monster Cable M2.2s
Vienna Mozarts

The D29 is a killer, and the midrange is very natural. The Vienna Mozarts offer fine sound and are well built. Sound is subjective, and the buyer must first audition many speakers before a purchase is made.

For my taste, the Mozarts are the best speaker under $3,000 US Dollars. The latest Dave Brubeck box set works very well on these speakers. This 20-bit set really shows what these speakers are capable of, which is a big suprise give their slender size. Check out Upstage Rumba, and you will see what I mean.

My review is based on a speaker that is not dependent on price or size.

Strength:

awesome sound, unbeatable build quality and finish at any price

Weakness:

none so far sonically. They are heavy especially with the sand filling which should be more mandatory than optional. Need a lot of power to drive

Awsome sound right out of the box. I played tons of different cds -all sounding "right". I heard these speakers with a reciever and wasn't impressed. My lexicon pre/pro and adcom amps make a huge difference. THe Maestro center gels perfectly with them. I compared them to the beethovens and found only a small difference. Save your money. They were a little bit better and had a little bit more bass- but the extra money should be spent on a sub. I'm sure you will be happier.

Strength:

Incredible vocal reprodution. Very accurate, detailed and fluid mid and high range sound reprodution. Excellent soundstage and imaging. Attractive and well constructed cabinetry. The small footprint and modest overall size helps in apartments and other areas where space is at a premium .

Weakness:

Bass response is OK. They probably won't satisfy anyone looking for heavy bass in music or HT without a separate sub-woofer. Adding sand to the cabinet and utizing a separate amp has helped accuracy and bass control.

After over 10 years since I purchased my KEF C65 speakers I decided to purchase a surround system for a modest home theater seteup. I did not want to compromise music as this remains my main use for my system. I extensively auditioned low-mid end speakers from Mirage, Klipsch, B&W , Paradigm Studio Series, and the Monitor Audio Silver 9 series. I enjoyed the sound of the Monitors and the Paradigms especially, but I became concerned about the listener fatigue I experienced after longer listening sessions.

As I stepped up price/budget-wise to check out some higher end models the Vienna line stood out for me as providing the vocal and musical smoothness, detail and imaging I was looking for without any of the fatigue I experienced with other speakers. I found myself drawn again and again to them and sound they produced despite the fact the line cost more than I intitially had intended to spend. One main reason for this I believe is the silk tweeter sound of the Vienna's vs the qualities of sound in the metallic tweeters of most of the other speakers I auditioned.

In this class of floorstanding speaker, Monitor Audio Silver 9i's, Paradigm Reference Studio 60's,B&W CDM NT's and Sonus Faber Grand Piano's were also strong contenders. The B&W 805's with a sub was another setup I considered.

For me the price and performance of the Vienna line and the Mozart's in particular were unmatched.

More thoughts for those considering purchasing the Mozarts:
Even as I researched my purchase much feedback I got indicated that upgrading to separate component amp and pre-amp is ultimately the way to go to get the most out of the Mozarts. I initially drove the Mozarts along with the Vienna Teatro center and Hayden rear speakers with a Marantz SR7000 receiver. (I am not using a subwoofer.) The results were fine, especially for my relatively small condominium listening space.

Recently I have upgraded to using the Marantz as a pre-amp and added a B&K Reference 30 Amp to my system. I do believe this has helped bring forth the Mozart's soundstaging and imaging significantly. Bass response and control in particular seem improved with the separate amp added.

I have these and they are quite wonderful! With my kit (Copland CDA266 & CSA28) they add a completely new dimension to all classical, jazz & voice. They can kick out Nirvana pretty well too :-) The build quality is quite superb, I have not seen better craftsmanship in a loudspeaker and the same care and attention clearly runs through every aspect of this product.
