Strength:
Great highs, great overall sound, fills the room
Weakness:
None Bought a pair from UBID for $350. I am very happy with the purchase as they are great for my fronts in my home theather system pair with Boston Acustics HD-8's for the surround speakers. These speakers are powerful with good Base, not as deep as Klipsh or Bose, but great for overall sound quality since I don't listen to much RAP. Similar Products Used: Boston acustics |

Strength:
Tight, clean, smooth sound on most all types of music.
Weakness:
Grills, but unless you take them on and off alot it doesn't matter. Bass can become a little distorted at times. I ahve been using these speakers for almost a year now and I love the fact that I only spent $300 dollars on these. These Opals sound better than speakers that cost two and three times as much that I listened to. As with most people here I took advantage of the bi-wiring post's and they sound very nice. Yes, It cost twice as much In speaker wire but you need to do this; you will not be sorry. I'm sure there are speakers that are built better and there are speakers that may even sound better but for the money these speakers sound great. But to get this type of sound quality in a speaker be preparred to lay down a lot of big bills. I would highly recommend that you go get these speakers if you can. Last I looked Ubid still has some of these available. |

Strength:
clean, precise sound. allows bi-amping
Weakness:
lacks "boomy" bass some rock lovers need you must be patient w/ these speakers and they will grow on you as they break in and you adjust your system along the way. Some may feel this is asking too much of a speaker. You will have to play w/ placement a lot to get a strong bass response. you should also have at least a 100 watt per channel amp. expect around 45-60 days for them to break in proprely. My beck and Save Ferris music sounds terrific. I hear music I never heard w/ the jbl's. The BOOM wasn't there but w/ a lot of work w/ my sub i get an overall cleaner and tighter sound now. My Cracker CD sounds muffled, so expect these speakers to bring out the good and the bad of your music. many companies "hump" the bass around 50-70 to give that BOOM many are used to. So getting used to natural sound will take some getting used to as you play w/ your system. In the end it will sound nice w/ these speakers. for me it did,but It should not take so long to break in! Weakness:
too expensive for no sound quality at all I spent over $500 on a pair of these crappy speakers and I hated them. I got rid of them fast and even lost money in the process. I spent almost a grand on my Klipsch and they are 10 times better then the wharfedale's. I had plenty of power pushing them, but the bass was nothing and the tweeters sounded muffled. I should have know that the speaker would suck when I saw that a British speaker was made in China. I bought them off of UBID, which is a rip off when it comes to speakers. If you want quality speakers, you have to spend some money. Buy klipsch. Similar Products Used: klipsch klf20 |

Strength:
Full range speaker, more efficient than my Modus 8's
Weakness:
Too bright. May improve on break in. Guess I had a wild hair too. They looked good, but when I hooked them up as fronts(Modus 8's as rears) they sound good, but alone sound overly bright and frontal. They are rated at 4 ohms, and are more efficient than my Modus 8's. All I can say is when hooked up to my Denon receiver I've had to lower their volume and raise that of the Modus's or they aren't very listenable. They are too bright. Similar Products Used: Mudus 8 |

Strength:
Clean,crisp,expansive sound-stage and depth
Weakness:
None for cost Let me start by telling you that I didn't have much hope for these speakers after reading another Klipsch owner's review of this product. I prefer the Klipsch sound to all others, but I wanted a speaker that had better(different) vocal reproduction than my Legends. I got these at ubid for $318.00. Best $318.00 I've spent in a long time. This is a smooth vocal and acoustical speaker. I have these near my Legends and the depth and width of sound is equal. I still do 70% of my listening with the Legends, but I thought I would only use the Opals 10% of the time. These speakers have been a pleasant surprise. I am running these with a B&K ST1400 amp with MIT 2 wires. The source is a Marantz 67SE connected directly with Audioquest Vipers. When I rate things I always do so on a value/performance scale.
