Strength:

Good clarity, stereo image and bass extension. Honest interpretation of the sound. PRICE!!!!!

Weakness:

A little toppy and so can fatigue after a while. Slightly wooly bottom end

These monitors look good, sound good and can handle high output. They accurately reproduce sound sources and offer a great stereo image. They reproduce surprisingly low frequencies but to my ears these can be a little wooly and lacking definition. I also find that the top end is a little harsh but then I tend to like a warmer, richer, less toppy sound. They are particularly toppy at high levels. I can find them fatiguing compared to HIFI and not as flattering, but this to be expected since they are for studio monitoring where accurate (not sweetened) sound is desired.
Compared to the Yamahas, Absolute 2's and Tannoys these monitors are a real winner.
Fantastic value for money.

The band I play in decided to put together a small
recording system. We went the common ADAT/Mackie 1604 route.
For monitors, I purchased the Yorkvilles and one of the other guys bought Tannoy Reveals. (We all dis-like NS-10s)
They have very similar sound in the high end. Nice and smooth and very low listening fatigue.
The Yorkville's seem to have a bit more low end no doubt due to their slightly larger cabinet.
However, we all seem to like the Tannoys better as they definetly have more accuracy in the midrange.
We probably monitor on the Tannoy's 80% of the time, but I totally recomend the Yorkville's as a good sounding second pair of speakers at a very fair price. And for home speakers
you couldn't do better in this price range.
