GO AND GET YOU SOME. These are excellent speakers. Especially if you are working within a budget. My whole system was furnished around six hundred and some change. (I all ready had a 120watt sub.) The speakers put out an excellent sound especially for the big size of my room. How can anyone go wrong with a price like this? Movies sound GREAT. Music sounds GREAT and TV sounds GREAT. These are my 1st set of surrond sound speakers and when I came across Fluance. I was skeptical about them @ 1st but I read my reviews. Talked to people @ electronic stores. Of course they never heard of them but when I showed them the website. They read up on them and were very impressed. 2nd thing no one never heard their sound. I was willing to take that chance. $259 dollars, 5yr guarantee and 7day return policy. HOW CAN YOU GO WRONG. Last but not least, ROCK ON BROTHER..........

Strength:

Sound is very well balanced for a 300.00 dollar system with shipping. Plenty of bass and overall build quality is pleasantly suprizing.

Weakness:

Absololutely nothing for the money.

Just puchased these speakers and have had them less than a week. Have to admit I was very sceptical at first to buy based solely on the reveiws, decided to bite the bullet after all. The speakers are cheap but built decently with a few good features such as biwire. Overall quality is just allright. However, sound quality is shockingly very good. Speakers are bright but not to bright and the balance is very good. No need for a subwoofer, unless you prefere the pounding of lot's of bass like me. Believe it or not I'm replacing my Vandersteen 1B's with this setup. Don't get me wroung these speakers can in no way compete with the 1B's, but do more than a sufficient job for my home theater. Did I mention the price, unheard of. Must give this system from Fluance two thumbs up for building such a good sounding system for so few dollars.

Strength:

Sound...the only thing that really matters. Design... the floor standing front speakers are on a base that raises them up off of the floor.

Weakness:

The metal "Fluance" label on each speaker. The font used is not too creative.

In the beginning of my search for the best possible sound for the dollar, I came across the AUDIOREVIEW.com website. I read reviews for a few different products..JBL, Boston Acoustics, Energy, Polk Audio etc.. I went to listen to a few of them in stores but found they were too expensive for what I would be getting. I had Energy's before when they first came on the market years ago, and loved them. Unfortunately they have established a great reputation and hiked their prices dramatically. When I read the reviews on Fluance speakers, I was kind of skeptical since virtually all of the reviews posted were excellent. Being the pessimistic person that I am, it was hard to convince myself to purchase a product before thoroughly inspecting and testing it out in a store. After being disappointed in my search both online and in stores, I decided to give Fluance a call and inquire about the Fluance 5 Speaker Surround Sound Home Theatre System model SX-HTB. The first thing I asked was why should I buy speakers if I can't hear them before-hand. The customer service rep said that I had 7 days to return them if I wasn't satisfied. So that put me at ease somewhat. Plus, they are manufactured a mere 1 hour drive away and if needed, I could personally put up a convincing fuss and get my money back. They were shipped the day after I purchased them over the phone and arrived 2 days later. I took them out of the box and was impressed with the general fit and finish of them. Everything was fine except one of the surround speakers had been damaged during shipping...which happens. I was upset that I couldn't hook up all 5 speakers but decided that I would see how well they back their product. I called and they gave me a return number and the speaker was replaced within days. Service was exceptional and the rep. appologized for the inconvenience. After hooking my speakers up to my Panasonic SAHE 100, (also a great buy for the money... better than SOny, JVC, etc... but not as good as Onkyo or Yamaha) I first listened to the tuner and the sound was good although the station wasn't coming in too clear. Since I don't yet have a DVD player, I rented a movie to see how the surround sound performed. Keeping in mind that I am only using a crappy RCA VCR, the sound that came out of the speakers was amazing. I can't wait to hear what a DVD sounds like through the system. Everyone that has watched a movie using the surround for sound has been impressed. I am a picky person and have been thoroughly impressed with these speakers. I am convinced that I wouldn't be able to get better sounding speakers for at least 2 or 3 times the cost.

Strength:

Really nice highs and voices. Decent with music of all types.

Weakness:

Lacks low-end punch, but what can you do. They sound a little thin at first, but after a few weeks they have really warmed up nicely.

Wow. This is a great set of speakers for a ridiculously low price. Read the reviews all over the internet, they are not fakes and not lying - this is a really nice system. I was pretty skeptical about buying a speaker set without first hearing them, but, I was on a serious budget and wanted the best system for the money - I took a shot. Also, towers were important to me - I just think, generally, that big boxes sound better than those tiny bose-like cubes. I also listen to music a good bit, and wanted a substantial front pair.

Strength:

Great sounding surround sound package all in a box. Perfect for average to larger rooms. Can't beat the price. Fast shipping and email replies. High quality construction won't disappoint. Get higher end sound for a lower end price.

Weakness:

Smallish rear and centre channels although they do the job adequately. Front speakers, although heavy, are slim and can tip easily. Would like some more mix and match packages on the website, but that's just me.

After reading some reviews on the internet, I decided to make the plunge and buy a set of SX-HTB Fluance speakers for my home theatre setup. It seems that more people go for the AV-HTB since they are cheaper at only $200 US, but I liked the look of the beech wood grain better. Shipping was quick, and all items arrived via UPS intact and well packaged in 3 boxes. I even ordered about 100 ft of 12 gauge speaker wire (wow it's really high quality and heavy duty!) from the company. After setting the speakers up, I did notice that the sound wasn't as great as I first imagined, but after a few hours to break them in, the sound really opened up. You do have to be a little patient as there does seem to be a break-in period where the materials loosen up. For music, the SX series has a good tonal range, but the front speakers (amplifier tones) do need to be adjusted as the bass can get boomy during the break-in period. For watching movies, the speakers are fantastic! Watching "Gladiator" with the sound cranked up, you really get immersed in the action. "Star Wars Episode II" was impressive and is a good test of the speakers. I did add a non-Fluance sub to my HT for the really low, floor shaking booms, but in reality, the speakers do produce a fair amount of great sounding bass all on their own. "Star Trek Nemesis" will shake the furniture even without a sub added. I did find that the centre and rear speakers were a little on the smallish side, but they are adequate for the job they do. Vocals are clear and crisp on the centre channel while the rears add to the ambient sounds and that 3rd dimension to movies. The front speakers come with rounded floor spikes, but the cabinets are quite slim so you have to place them carefully on carpeted areas as they can tip easily. Fit and finish are above average to excellent, but don't expect too much as the cabinets are pretty basic. All speakers come with 5 way binding posts while the fronts have 4 posts for biwiring separate amps. The gold plated shunts are a little on the flimsy side, but they do their job adequately. I did have a slight problem with a connection with bare wire on the fronts, but I think that the shunts were just not making good contact. It was easily corrected. For the price, you really can't go wrong with this set. For a comparable, decent set of front tower speakers alone, the price can approach what you would pay for the whole SX-HTB set. They seem to handle louder volumes very well although I am still breaking them in. For most average to large rooms, they should be able to do the job quite competently. I only wish they had a slightly upgraded package with the SV-10s as the fronts, but that would push the price up a fair bit. Overall, I'm extrememly happy with my setup. They may not rival the higher end stuff, but again, I only paid $260 US so I don't expect miracles! Try a set and be surprised at the sound for the money. Truly a good value.

Strength:

Great sound, the mains are biwireable, very inexpensive

Weakness:

Simulated wood finish

After doing a ton of research on the web, I decided to give these speakers a try. Well, it was a choice between these and the Acoustic Research system, and I really prefered floorstanding speakers over satellites, so I went these. And I'm glad I did. At first, the sound was a little on the small side, but after a few weeks, these speakers have really opened up a lot, and the sound is really incredible. As surprising as it sounds, they do a better job than my Polk speakers, especially with dialogue. My Polk CS245i can sound a little muddy at times, which isn't the case at all with the Fluance center. The sound is crystal clear, with no muddiness. The dialogue is clear and tight, as it should be. I would definitely recommend these speakers to anyone, and not just to those on a budget. I've listened to speaker systems costing more than twice as much, and don't even begin to compare with these.

Strength:

The speakers look great, sound good and there’s no distortion with a Harman Kardon.

Weakness:

none

My budget didn’t allow me to go overboard on the sound system so when I looked at other low priced speaker systems and read the reviews people wrote, "the system was good except for the mediocre subwoofer." The Fluance speaker package didn’t have a subwoofer and opinions were mixed whether it needed a sub or not. I reasoned if I didn’t like the bottom end I could always save up for a quality sub later. I’ve had these speakers for a month now and teamed them up with a H/K avr125 receiver. Last night I wanted to test out the bass so I watched that scene in Independence Day where the ray guns were obliterating cities for a good fifteen minutes in the film. I was getting so charged up that I kept cranking the volume up and there was still no distortion! Finally my wife came downstairs upset that she couldn’t enjoy her bath because the tub was shaking so much. Opps… Ironically I soundproofed the basement years ago but bass sounds know no barriers. I’m happy with this setup and if I need more bass down the road I’ll just save up for it.

Strength:

Mid-range performance, easily matches $600-$800 speaker systems I've demoed in the stores. $269 from Fluance.com, with shipping, $300. Styling, appearance, build quality. Unbelievable deal.

Weakness:

None, for the price.

I'm very impressed with these speakers. The shipment arrived in just a few days. They were double-boxed, and very well protected. The main speakers come with floor spikes to raise them off the carpet. (Don't worry, they are rounded on the ends so they don't punch a hole through your carpeting). The speaker connections are quality gold-plated 5 way posts, there are two pairs per speaker if you want to bi-wire or bi-amp them. (Just remove the shorting strap between the posts). I have my system bi-wired. I immediately noticed the difference in sound when I hooked them up (compared to my Kenwood speakers). The cabinets seem pretty solid and well built. They sound very full and clear. The mains are bass-reflex, with dual ports facing the rear of each cabinet. The bass sounds tight with out being overly boomy, the highs sound crisp. The center channel speaker showed an immediate improvement over my existing speaker, I was actually able to clearly make out the dialog on some of the movies that before had been muddled. I've had these for a week now, so they've broken in. With DVD/A, the six channels blew me away, the Doobie Brothers Captain and Me sounded incredible. I am very, very happy with these speakers.
