JBL NSP1 5 Piece Speaker System Home Theater Speaker Systems

JBL NSP1 5 Piece Speaker System Home Theater Speaker Systems

DESCRIPTION

The 2-way 4-inch bookshelf loudspeakers and the 2-way 5-inch center channel loudspeaker with high-impact molded enclosure reproduce sound with unmatched clarity and power. The PolyPlas (polymer-coated cellulose fiber) cone woofer features traditional JBL engineering, the same technologies used in JBL's professional equipment that can be found in stadiums, music halls and move theaters around the world.

Shielded components allow placement near video monitors. High-temperature oversized Kapton-voice coil and HeatScape motor structure allow these speakers to effortlessly play all types of movies and music. The FreeFlow flared port increases bass response without adding unwanted port noise. JBL's custom designed drivers allow the use of simple, Straight-line Signal Path (SSP) crossover networks with high quality electrical components that minimize processing that could degrade the signal.

None so far!!

The $999.00 price includes the nsp1 surround sound speaker package(n-center, and 4 n24's), a yamaha 5460 natural sound reciever, and a np10. I also adeed 2 cerwin vega 10' floor speakers. I ran my system in all monster cable. it sounds awesome. When i bought the package I also got a phillips 27' t.v. which made the system even sweeter. For the price you can't beat it. I watched the matrix and you feel like the bullets are coming straight at you!

Even when in stereo they outplayed a pair of Infinity towers

Weakness:

A subwoofer is a MUST HAVE

I must say that I was shocked when I heard about this speaker package a few months ago. I heard that Best Buy was selling them, but $1000 is a lot to pay for when you're on a budget. So, I managed to find them for $310 shipped at eTronics, and I got a Sony SA-WM20 8" sub to go with it.

Right off the bat I want to say that you don't have to get a subwoofer for these. At most listening levels for normal viewing (i.e., TV, radio, or low-volume background music) then these are fine as-is. But, if you really want them to shine for music speakers, or, more importantly (in my opinion, anyway) home theater, then get at least an 8" sub. The room I watch my movies in is small, being about 10' x 10', so the 8" sub is fine for that.

Anyway, these speakers offer an incredibly "bang for your buck". If you've read any of my other reviews, then you know I tend to look for the lowest price component that gives the greatest quality. These speakers from JBL are no exception. I suggest you break them in with about a week's worth of playing at least, as I would with any speakers.

When I did get them broken in, they sounded incredible. Clear, loud, and wonderfully accurate. Just for fun, I switched my receiver over into stereo mode and played a live Pink Floyd CD. I was very impressed at how they sounded until I realized that my subwoofer wasn't even on. I couldn't believe how great the bass drum and bass guitar sounded even without the sub on. And of course they sounded even better when they didn't have to worry about lows with the sub on.

As for home theater, these babies are nothing short of awesome. They perform nicely in Dolby Pro Logic, but when they get a DD5.1 or DTS signal...wow. You'll love 'em. The rain in the final scenes of Unbreakable sounds VERY real.

In closing, I recommend these speakers to just about anyone. These little wonders managed to spank some higher-end Infinity floor speakers and they have yet to disappoint me. Don't be deceived by the JBL name or the fact that my entire home theater speaker set cost me less than $600.

Strength:

Small footprint, comes with wall mounting brackets, JBL engineering, easy to power (doesn't need a whole lot).

Weakness:

Definitely needs sub to fully complete the system.

Bar None the best bang for your buck on the market. I challenge anyone to find this good of a system for under 300 bucks. I've got this paired with a Kenwood vr-509 receiver and an 8 inch passive sub currently. I'm still breaking in the speakers, but my is the sound already phenomenal. I definitely would recommend these to anyone, I've already talked my boss into them!

I purchased the JBL brand based upon the posative feedback I read on the Audio Review website. Also the Yamaha receiver
Just purchased along with a JBL Subwoofer Model PB10 and a Yamaha surround sound receiver ( Natural Sound Model # HTR 5460. I am very close to purchasing a TV to go with this and hook it up, I will let you know how it all sounds. Still need a DVD player also. The $999 price covers all the above equipment.
