Strength:
Ok sound
Weakness:
Very slow to change CD's, weak rear channel speakers, no digital inputs. The unit puts out quite a bit of sound but the rear speakers are very quiet and the remote is not designed well. For $100, it's not a bad deal though. Similar Products Used: Pioneer receiver sx-50, bose speakers |

Strength:
Excellent surround sound decoding and speakers. Tons of equalization and sound field options. Plenty of power. Manual is easy to use and system as a whole is easy to set up. Quality and construction is superior. Everything has a sturdy feel to it. All sources sound excellent. Tape player/recorder has above average quality
Weakness:
The bass presence is not quite as window-shattering as some other mini system manufacturers. (But will still be more than enough for most users) The CD changer is relatively slow and loud. The SUBWOOFER OUT jack is only activated when using the 5.1 discrete input. This system is an excellent, and IMHO, the best Pro Logic mini system on the market currently. I have no idea what the previous reviewer meant by "tinniness" as I have encountered none on this system. I have played nearly every type of music on this system, and, unlike many other systems, this system plays sparse acoustic music and instrumental music just as well as the more prevalent rock/rap. I've also watched all types of movies on this, from 'thrillers' such as Dante's Peak to nearly all dialogue movies such as Jane Eyre and it does an excellent job across all fronts. The Dolby Pro Logic decoding as well as Panasonic's Super Surround are excellent. I've listened to this system for more than 5 hours non-stop and experienced no fatigue which can commonly happen with a low-quality system. If you are interested in a complete review I have written, which cannot be posted here due to length restraints, please e-mail me. Similar Products Used: Aiwa NSX-MA545/845, numerous Sony systems. |

Strength:
It has a enormous amount of power. 5CD changer. Dolby SUrround System.
Weakness:
Antenna hookup. I haveused this product for 2 weeks now and am very impressed with it. It supplies 330 watts of power. I think that this is a system that you would buy as the lst system you ever buy. It is very easy to operate. The only weakness is the antenna hookup. It is a 75 ohms. I use a outdoor antenna which is very easy to install. Overall I give this product 5 stars, because of its performance and quality. Similar Products Used: AIWA ans SONY. |

I am a new owner of the Panasonic SC-AK57. With each new day, I find myself increasingly impressed with this model. First off, it is a relatively small shelf unit( about the size of conventional 3-disc shelf systems). However, this unit holds 5 discs in addition to cranking out near rack system bass. I have my Dolby Digital Decoder DVD hooked up to the unit along with an amplified subwoofer. The results are truly impressive, with crystal clear sounds and apartment shaking bass. Unfortunately, the subwoofer can only be employed while in the 5.1 channel option. This means that if you want to crank up the bass from Tuner/Aux/CD/Tape source, the subwoofer is not available. So, it is for this very reason that I give the unit only a 4 rating. |

I am the proud owner of a SCAK-57. This model offers the best sound minisystems have to offer. The Super Woofers will shake your house & will blow you away. This system is worth the $649.99 Can. The reception is as good as any Yamaha receiver. You will get stations from far & wide. If you're looking for a good minisystem get this! You'll be happy. |

For the price this is the best minisystem that I found on the market. I tested at least 15 to 20 minisystems and this one blew them all away. The bass is outstanding with the built in super woofer. All in all, a great system. You'll be impressed by the fairly powerful center and surround speakers. They are much better than other minisystems. |
