The Polk Audio Rm3300's I just purchased replace a set of Cambridge Soundworks Ensemble II's that I returned. The CSW's had a very clear and clean upper frequency range, but lacked strong bass response in a fairly large room. Their midrange was a bit weak, also. After setting up the Polk's in the same large room, I noticed how natural the overall sound was. No "sis-boom" type, lack-of-midrange sound from these babies, that's for sure! The bass is extremely strong (powered sub with volume control, speaker-level or low-level inputs, and a fixed X-over point), with A very musical sound and not just "BOOM, RUMBLE, BOOM." I'm powering them with a Harman Kardon AVR40 (65W/Ch in normal stereo mode) The Polk's cost me $145 more than the CSW's (I got the Polk's on sale, $545), but are worth MUCH more in comparison! They look great, feel substantially constructed, and are a pleasure to listen to. FIVE THUMBS UP!!!

Just bought an Onkyo system with a TX-SV444 receiver powering a trio of RM-3300 speakers (2 small fronts and a sub woofer unit). The sound produced by the speakers is full, rich, and even. I was sceptical of these small speaker systems--I had been previously underwhelmed by the Bose systems--but the Polks sound great. I have the subwoofer set to the side and out of the way so all you see are the little speakers. It's really quite an amazing sound, the base from the S/W is directionless so it sounds like it's coming from the little speakers. It's an audio illusion. Cool.
So far I can only bear to turn the volume control on the receiver up to the 11 o'clock position (about 40% power). The sound is painfully loud but I can hear no signs of strain or distortion from the speakers. They are worth the $650 price tag.

I have one small complaint (which may be common to all subwoofers, I just don't know). After several minutes at very low volume levels, the S/W will click itself off. If I increase the sound level a couple of clicks with the remote, it clicks back on again.

With that minor problem understood: Five Stars.

I just bought a set of the RM 3300's. I needed speakers that could be placed out of sight, but with good, clean sound and the power to fill a room 20 x 25' with a high ceiling. The 3300's sound great. The sub is tight, and not at ll hissy or thumpy like some other brands. The satellites sound extremely natural, clean and alive. It is truly amazing the sound that these little speakers produce with a 40 wpc Onkyo receiver.

I was skeptical at first about these satillite/sub combos, because I have listened to Bose Acoustimass speakers, and quite frankly, they were lacking... The bass was boomy, and the treble sounded like it was coming from an aluminum can. I am a 15 year old sophomore, and like any teenage boy, I wanted speakers that shake the house. Well, I did a LOT of research, and finally decided on these, WITHOUT EVEN LISTENING TO THEM. They came in the mail, and I hooked them up to my Sony STR-DE325 (100 wpc) reciever. I was blown away by the clarity. Crystal clear highs and mids, offset by tight, clean bass made these the best investment of $550 in my life. I am certainly glad that I did not get wrapped up in the Cerwin-Vega "mine is bigger than yours" philosophy. These speakers, with a good receiever will be more than enough. I can only bear to turn mine up to the 10 'o' clock position... And they rattle the windows all over the house...

Strength:

The subwoofer, build quality

Weakness:

The coloue (mine are white)

Just as all of the other reviews suggest I was very sceptical at first about the whole sub/sat combo. It was the salesman who bought my attention to these little babies as they had been heavliy discounted ($1450 Aus down to $800 Aus) for the new model. I do like to shop around so I listened to a lot of different types and brands of speakers at afour other Hi Fi stores. However nothing could come close to matching the sound of these speakers. I had to buy some speaker stands to put the sats on which makes them look a lot better than just shoving them on top of a cabinet or something. The suby does truly provides excellent bass, to the extent that I only have the bass setting on my amp to -0-. Sound never gets distored no matter how high I put the volume. I do recommend these speakers.
