Strength:

Makes up for the lack of bass typical of in-wall speakers

Weakness:

Not a home theater component

The Parasound in-wall sub is a very well built speaker. When coupled with other in-wall speakers, it definitely does its job, which is to add some bass to in-walls. I tried it mated to the CST-265a in-walls from Parasound. Those speakers sound pretty good, but when mated to the 1002 sub, there is a dramatic improvement.

The sub can be used with an optional passive crossover, which is sturdy and does the job. When connected between the source and the speakers, the crossover can send just the low frequency information to the sub. I tried it with and without the crossover... both to good effect.

I also tried it in my home theater to see if it might be a good replacement for a true sub, but though it certainly works, it doesn't provide that rumble that a true HT sub can!

Overall, this sub makes a terrific addition to any set of inwalls. In fact I would go so far as to say that any room with in-walls that will be used to listen to music at any significant volume should have a sub of some type, and the Parasound is a pretty good choice.
