Strength:
This sub absolutely rocks... the theater, the floor, and the entire house. You can hear this outside too. I have the sub + backbox + SA-350 amplifier. Because this is an architectural speaker, it does require a bunch of prep, studs, deck screws and liquid nails to get this installed. I built two shallow pillasters on the right and left of the screen, and built this into the left side. Pros - Ridiculous amount of bass. I was going to install two, but absolutely no need in my theater - 20x18ft - Can be used with either the SA-380, or SA-350 ( you can get the SA-350 at good prices used). Note that you must use a servo controlled amp with this speaker. - non directional sound - Easy to install and remove the actual speaker from the backbox - which is needed as you test and finish the install. It has a nice built in frame that supports the speaker. - For the price, every home theater should have one - everyone who hears it will smile Comments: - Don’t use nails - follow the instructions and use screws and liquid nails. This is surprisingly powerful - it comes with sealing tape - use it - it cushions the speaker frame and prevents rattles. Weakness:
Considerations: - Really none. You will need to frame this out, strengthen that frame, and install. I did it in a couple weekends. I used 2x6 studs to create a small pillaster. I surrounded it with heavy insulation to prevent rattles. I installed the backbox about 8 inches off the floor to prevent any potential for water damage — as this thing is basically going to need a crowbar to ever get out! Purchased: New
