Strength:
True deep bass performance, can go unecessarily loud if you need it, potentially very fast. Equally adept with audio and home cinema/theatre.
Weakness:
Like any audio/visual equipment, mains quality is paramount to getting the potential out of this beast. Also quite an imposing size and weight - needs two people to move it around. Only comes in black. This sub can go low (18Hz) and very loud, but quality of deep bass is paramount for music, and the ASW3000 has plenty of potential. I must stress that using a sub like this, or any large, powerful sub, really does require very good quality mains, regardless of how it performs out of the box. I've had the ASW3000 for just over two years, and it is only just beginning to perform as a proper musical reproducer, now that I've managed to get my mains to a very high standard. It is now fast as anything, ultra deep and incredibly tight, rhythmic and forceful, and does an awesome job with films as well. |

Weakness:
None found yet. I have been very happy with my old Snell E 3's(I bought these new!) The one thing I did not like with them was the lack of control when viewing movies. So I went out and bought one ASW3000. Why didn't I do this before? I always though of a subwoofer as a part making the system too complex to make a 'flat full range' picture. Damn, I was wrong. This subwoofer is great. Two thumbs up! |

PRICE!!!!!!!! I audictioned this sub at a friend's house and decide to get me one of those. after 3 weeks there he was poisoning my room's decor and filling the air whith bass.Anyways, after two weeks i went to see a friend who had recently bought a hole home cinema system. when i arrived at his house he was watching matrix(a movie that a had already seen) but when i felt the door, the walls and furniture all shaking like hell's gone loose i ask him what sub could do that? And he awnsered Yamaha yst-800.U can guess the end of the story, i returned my asw3000 and got back from the store with two(that's right two)yamaha ystsw800 since my sub has two out's man it really shakes your cojones. just have both of them running 500w each and just watch matrix dts and you will be blazed. Who said that we cannot remake natural disasters. This is a killer sub if you need a massage just lie down and pump it, this speaker is one of the biggest washing machines I have ever seen it has a 15inch driver with a downfiring port. It has an auto on/off and all the way down to about 16/17Hz and the funny thing is you never know where it is coming from. Im giving i a 5 because everytime it gives me a THRILL and is just EXCELLENT |

This is one fantastic sub and should be hailed as another natural disaster. When I first heard this sub in my room, I thought I was going to fall through the floor. Seriously folks, if you are looking for a sub that is really going to show off Dolby Digital on a DVD player, look no further. |

Strength:
Great subwoofer!! HT and music sound exceptional.
Weakness:
A bit overpowering, heavy and big!! My original intention was too buy a B&W ASW 2000 but since it is no longer in production I considered its replacement: B&W ASW 2500. The price difference between this and the 3000 is only around $100. Since I got a decent discount for the 3000 anyways I went for it. I really have to lower the volume since its quite overpowering. This is a great subwoofer for both music and HT. The bass goes down to 18Hz and is gutt wrenching!! The sub is very musical too. My system includes: Similar Products Used: None |

I got the B&W ASW 3000 subwoofer for my home theater to nicely compliment the Matrix 803s. It pumps out 300 watts of power and you actually FEEL the sound rather than just hear a loud rumbling sound. Explosions and fires (like in Backdraft) are so realistic that you find yourself looking around you to see "what is that?". |

Wow. where to begin? One of the best subs I've run across for under $2000. I am not a believer in servo recorrection circuits (velodyne, paradigm servo 15), I would rather have the job done right the 1st time around rather than have to rectify mistakes after the fact. even if it is 1/1000 os a sec. A very musical sub that has the brute force to capitalize upon demanding movies.
Weakness:
The fact that its huge and wieghs 110 lbs make any relocation attempts a 2 person affair. I can't say price because I got it for $900. More on that later. AND out of production for some assinine reason. I originally wanted the ASW-2000. I had set a $1000 limit on a sub and went with the DM601S2s for a Sub/Sat(if you could call it that) system until I could afford the DM604S2s as mains and later on add the LCR6 center. When I went to the store the 2000 I had auditioned 3 months earlier was gone, and this monster was in its place. At the time I thought "nice, but painfully unattainable". So I had my thoughts set on 601s, and ASW[2000. At the time of commitment (getting ready to shell out the cash) the saleman informed me "well, I could give you a brand new 2000, OR I could give you that used 3000 we just got in for the same price". It turns out some other guy traded in the 3000 for an upgrade to the 4000! it was only 9 months old and in pristine condition. After weighing the pros and cons for about, oh..... 3 seconds!!! I bought the 3000 and have never been let down by it in the past 11 months. I would recommend it to anyone, but for some ludicrous reason, its out of production. I can't imagine what B&W has in mind to replace this, but it better be good! Similar Products Used: An old Kenwood 10" that I forget the name of, paradigm servo ref 15, velodyne HGS-15, and 12. |

I recently purchased B&W's ASW3000 active subwoofer after an extended search for the ultimate music/home theatre sub. Here in Australia where all imported audio products are price-inflated and many product lines have ridiculous profit margins, the ASW3000 retails for around $3500. I was fortunate enough to purchase a floor model for considerably less ($2000). At the outset, I must say that this subwoofer is very large and heavy - it is cumbersome to position and weighs around 50 kilos and definetely "stands out" in the room. It features all the controls and connections you will ever need (line in's/out's, speaker level, auto on/off etc.) |

I purchased this this for movies and have been very happy with its performance recreating all my movies throw at it. I hooked it up Sub out from my processer and also tried it from my speaker terminals both resulted in very good results. I have it thru my sub out because I also have a Rel Storm that I use for music. For the money the ASW 3000 is a great investment. |
