Strength:

Seamless integration through line level inputs, tight bass, low response, and many more

Weakness:

I wish it had balanced inputs along with RCA just to cut down on interference from long runs of interconnects, inability to change high pass crossover

In my system this is easily one of my favorite pieces, which is no small feat in my system comprised of components from Theta, Meridian, and Bryston.
I have it hooked up via the three line level inputs and outputs using its high pass filter set at 95hZ, which by the way if someone knows how to change this I would appreciate the advice. I would prefer to have it a little lower to like 70 to 80hZ, which seems like the more logical crossover point according to their hZ vs dB graph. But this may be a mute point because I think this sub blends seamlessly with my Klipsch 10.5's, so I don't know why I am complaining.
I am enthralled by its sound and I have definately put it through its paces. It keeps up perfectly with movies like Godzilla and Saving Private Ryan, and I have even played Telarcs 1812 Overture w/ digital cannons at high volume levels and it sounded amazing with no distortion. I am surprised my neighbors didn't call the cops on me, because those cannons sound like a gun going off right next to you. I used to use my Sunfire sub for all bass but it had this boominess to it, which I feel fits in nicely as a LFE sub for movies, but really detracts from music. Before the Sunfire, I used the Klipsch sub and it just didn't have trhe impact I desired although it is at least a better musical sub between 50 to 80 hZ than the Sunfire, but the Bag End destroys it in all categories. Another sub that I have heard quite a bit of is the Velodyne HGS-15 and again this sub was not nearly as tight as the Bag End to me. In fact the dealer I listened to it at had his preamp setup with a music setting that eliminated the sub, because he also felt it detracted from the music.
I guess I have raved about this sub long enough and my advice to you is keep watching Reference AV's website for their seemingly periodic sale on the Bag End at about a $1000. There is no better way to spend a $1000 on music equipment in my opinion. My last tidbit is that I do think that with the Bag End you should have a 2nd subwoofer for your LFE output on movies. That way you can have the the front speakers set to full range yet hi-passed by the Bag End, rears cutoff and bass sent to LFE sub and of course the full LFE channel going into the LFE sub. For this LFE sub, I find that the Sunfire does a great job on LFE, and I don't think you could go wrong with a Velodyne HGS amongst others as well. With two subs like that your home rivals all and blows away most movie theaters in terms of bass. However again, I highly advise using the Bag End only for music.

Strength:

Bass extension to 8Hz, Favorable performace to price ratio

Weakness:

HUGE SIZE

Purchased from Magic Audio in Atlanta after the manufacturer's price hike. Had it drop-shipped overnight directly from Bag End in Chicago fora reasonable sum. Overall, the most musical sub I have ever heard. Purchased sight/unseen/unheard from the excellent reviews on this site as well as from the periodical, "The Sensible Sound".
Highly Recommended! Five Stars!

What more can I add to the other reviews? The sub is unbelievable. It is seamless with really low bass without the BOOM of most subs. Very fast...Keeps up with my

I had a chance to review this product at home and compare it with my Servo 15. The Infrasub simply cannot compete with the Servo 15 in deep bass impact and detail. The Servo 15 shakes the ground (my home has a concrete slab foundation!) and my sofa, where the Infrasub merely hints at "infrabass" (20 hz and below). As far as bass detail, the Infrasub glosses over it(approx. 50 hz and below); Enya's Watermark, track 10-the Long Ships-the deep bass impact simply shakes the house and you can "feel" the texture of the bass on the Servo 15.

Bass and upper bass (50 Hz and above)speed, both subs are roughly equal with a slight nod towards the Infrasub. Otherwise volume is slightly higher on the Servo 15 in this range.

I had great expectations for the Infrasub and it is disappointing to find that it did not meet them.

I got a pair of these subs at a very good price from an excellent dealer (Music Center of Kenosha, Wisconsin
414-697-9393, musiccenterinc.com; or email: Jet Townsend ). See Richard Hardesty's review articles in http://www.widescreenreview.com/ He says it all; I agree that 2 are better than 1 when it comes to subwoofers. However, a pair does that up some real estate.

These subs can easily reproduce 16 Hz pipe organ notes with a clarity that I've never heard before. (They also are very revealing of poorly recorded CDs that have thumpy bass.) I am extremely happy with these subs and highly recommend them.

Strength:

Finesse with musis, power, authority in delivering bass notes, speed.

Weakness:

could have slightly greater slam for movies

This is kind of a late review. You see, about 3 maybe 4 years back I owned one of these beauties :(...

From the very first day I had it hooked up, I was gob-smacked with the detail this subwoofer delivered to my system. Every disc I threw at it; my enjoyment in the material played, I became more fonder of. This is by far one of, if not the most, musical subs I have had the priviledge of owning/hearing.

No other sub I have heard can deliver bass notes with the exactness of this one, within in it's price range. Even then, it embarrasses some more expensive subs I have heard.

The only reason I got rid of this baby was due to another real baby about to be delivered into my family, my daughter, god bless her.

Here I am many years after the fact of owning this sub I still long for it and miss it deeply!

It is easy to setup and seemlesly blended with my mains. It plays loud enough and has excellent depth, slam and most importantly speed.

I would say there are other subs that play louder than this one but they cannot, by any means, compete against the quality that this baby produces. You will be impressed. It is also the only sub for which I could accurately balance with my ear by listening to music tracks and then apply a sound level meter and be within a db of the mark!

If you are into Home Theatre, I would recommend getting two of them. Then there would definately be no looking back as the SPL would be there with the best of the "boomers" out there but with the quality on your side.

Deeply miss this one...and one day, soon, it will be mine to cherish again. My highest recommendation.

Strength:

Clean, deep, and fast bass response.

Weakness:

Cheesy spring clips on back.

I've had the sub for about a year now and wanted a sub that would be 1) very musical 2) and sound great for home theatre purposes.
This sub fits the both criteria very well. The bass is and can be deep, tight, and very fast if the music was properly recorded. With movies, it adds a 3rd dimension of fun to any DVD movie.
My only complaint would be the cheap controls on the back, however at the price point It's one helluva "bang for the buck" Heck, if you paid $1k or more for it, it's still worth it. I happened to luck out with a Demo at a local dealer. Watch out the magnet is very powerful, and I found out the hard way as I was pushing it across the carpet past my t.v. The color totally distorted, and took a day for it to turn back to normal. I use it in the following system:

2) Panasonic Super VHS player

Strength:

Musical ability. Low, tight, deep bass.

Weakness:

A bit sensitive to room placement. LARGE!

After reading the revies, I had to hear one. Compared it to Velodyne, B&W, Paradigm, Klipsch. Clearly the most "musical" of the subs I heard. No boomy relics that plague the AV sub world. The Infrasub plays along nicely with the main speakers without overpowering them. The sub seems to add a warmth to the lower mid ranges without calling attention to itself. When the notes get low, so does the Infrasub. It reproduced the cleanest, most viceral bass that I have experienced in a home system. A bit shy (less boom) on some AV soundtracks when compared to others, but makes up for it on music. For the money, I couldn't come close with any Velodyne or B&W offering.
The only regret is that it does not have adjustable crossover levels. Although it sounds very good, these adjustments would make it a bit easier to adjust for optimum peformance in any room.
A Must Hear for Music lovers!!!

I,ve auditioned the infrasub-18 in a dealers showroom listening to a coupleof pipe organ cd's. Listening at a fairly low volume the lower registers
all the way down to around 16 hz (subsonic) were very pleasing to the ear.
Each note seemed to be about the same level of volume and without the slight
time delay I notice with my Signet subwoofer I have at home.
I'm very interested in purchasing an infrasub-18 but would like to read
some owner reviews.
