Strength:
Musicality versus boominess, controls, appearance
Weakness:
None I purchased this subwoofer as part of an overall upgrade to my stereo system. When comparing to other subwoofers, I was struck by the subtleties in detail which were not present in other subs listened to. Instead of thumps and booms, the subwoofer is very musical and detailed in its sound quality. Additionally, I was impressed with the control set up and the small footprint of the unit. Finally, the appearance is far more pleasing aesthetically than many of the other units I compared the Boston with. I have been very happy with the purchase. PV400Bought this little sub right off the delivery truck & really like it. My budget would not allow for a bigger one & I was concerned it might not have enough umph. Turned out great in my 12 X 20 home theatre. For a great product at a reasonable price, this new Boston sub is worth looking into, I'm glad I did. |

Strength:
tight, accurate bass from a small box
Weakness:
none that i can tell! i ordered the pv 1000 sub without hearing it first. i based my opinion on hearing the pv 800,meaning the 800 is an excellent sub ,so the pv 1000 is even a better subwoofer. i was right, the pv 1000 is a very musical sub,the bass is extremly tight and detailed and not a lot of innaccurate thump. it is very clean bass,so i had a tendacy to set the level very high at first. my neihbors do not like it as much as i do! it is definately an expensive sub compared to the other boston and klipsch subs, but much cleaner and accurate than the others. the cherry finish makes it one of the more striking subs on the market as a added bonus Similar Products Used: boston pv 600,pv 800,klipsch10,12,15 inch subs |

Strength:
powerful, tight, clean bass
Weakness:
so much power, the sub jumps unless the velcro supplied by boston accoustics is used. This is an excellent sub. Period. For such a small subwoofer, it is ammazing that the bass is as loud, deep, clean and tight as it is. Very well engineered and excellent build quality. I have it hooked up to my sony es 555 receiver and it cranks. Its cherry wood finish is stunning compared to other "ugly" black boxey subwoofers on the market. I previously had yamaha subs...while they were good, the boston accoustic pv1000 is 100 times better--blows them away. I listened to a lot of subs on the market and this was top 2 in my books in the price range i was in. Boston Accoustics is a relatively low promoted & advertised company, but thier engineering and built quality is excellent. Similar Products Used: yamaha subs |

none This is one outstanding machine. My review is strictly from a Home theatre experience. This sub is crisp, tight and precise. One cannot detect the source of the bass.It sinks superbly with my BA system 10K.I have no regrets about returning my PV600 where one could feel the relatively weaker amp. There was something definitely amiss with the PV600 eg. the hmmmph was a bit echoey, and sound a bit boomy. What the PV1000 has done is amazing. It has filled that vacumn and added life to my HT setup.I use it with Marantz DV18 DVD player,Onkyo TS989 reciever and QED silver anniversary cables.Thankyou Boston!
