Strength:
Price, plays reasonably loud, well built.
Weakness:
Doesen't go low enough I purchased this sub a few years ago for my parent's 2 channel system to reinforce the low end because it had small speakers. At that it does a good job, provided you use the volume on the sub sparingly or else the sound becomes boomy. Its good for small to medium sized rooms. It does not extend very low for a sub but does help add some umph to any average system. Similar Products Used: Def Tech Super Cube I |

Hummmmmmmm. I listened to several subs and did a lot of reading. I originally was not looking at this one at all. The sales person convinced me to listen and compare it to the Pinnacle that I was testing. Wow! The clarity and definition from such a low cost speaker impressed me. I use this with Klipsch Quintet L/R and surrounds and an Infinty CC-2 center speaker to fill in the base. It does a wonderful job. Similar Products Used: Klipsch KS-10, M&K 10", AR 15", Pinicle 10" |

Large This sub is LOUD. My wife hates it. :) I can only set the volume on the sub to about 20% of the max or it drowns out the other speakers. It works well with my Bose system. I have read lots of Bose reviews on this site that diss Bose stuff, but I like the Bose speakers, and they work well with the CV-sub. Since it is downward firing, it provides a nice fat sound for home theater so that the floor and your stomach shake when the tornado in Twister comes by, or the helicopter smashes into the building in The Matrix. I did not know what I was missing until I got this sub. It is also good for music and adds tons where the Bose stuff leaves off. Even though I like the Bose setup, the Bose setup does not provide that low base you need for Nelly or even the good ole Baby Got Back. Adding the CV-sub makes this music sound like one of those booming bass cars that drive by. It sounds like a club in my own home! Similar Products Used: Bose 501/301/ACS-10 |

Strength:
House shaking bass; Perfect for home theater use
Weakness:
Size, extra time in intial tuning of sub I purchased the Cerwin Vega HT-S12 about a year ago to enhance my home theather. It took me a couple of months to tune the sub to work to my satisfaction in my home theater area. One thing I can tell you about this sub is that it can really shake up your house. I was watching Godzilla on DVD and the scene where army was chasing Godzilla in the city really set off my sub. The wine glasses in my kitchen cabinets shook like an earthquake was happening! |

Build, might mistake it for a coffee table I recently purchased this subwoofer from J&R.com for 299.00 and couldn't be happier with it. Being that im only 20 yrs old, I don't consider myself an audio expert yet. Anyhow, I use this subwoofer along with my Infinty speakers(RS-5's, RS-3's & CC-3 center)and it just amazes my friends and I. The Infinity speakers lack bass, but this subwoofer compinsates for that immensly. Once again, I am no expert but I know a good thing when I see it or hear in this case. |

Strength:
Great tight, heavy bass
Weakness:
none This sub does look like a coffee table, but that should be a strength because you dont' want to make it so obvious that you have a sub. I have since moved mine into the tv cabinet under the tv. Bass is louder and deeper from there rather than in the corner holding a lamp, a home theater and guns and ammo magazine. Similar Products Used: Paradigm, velodyne |

mud constnatly tweeking on it got mine at the mcrd nex in san diego. in the 600$ price range it is tops. the high snr ratio will rock the house. other people said they heard hum. i did not. if you have hum #1 check to see if you are useing a grounded cable. if you are then #2 make sure the thing is SORCE grounded. that hum usualy starts up stream. in some movies it will bottom out at high volumes. so i am constantly tweeking on it. over all i like it and would buy a second when and if i can get the extra coin.
