Strength:

Goes LOW, nice even cube, Loud, serviceable design.

Weakness:

Can't think of one.

This is for the plus version. I can tell you this thing gets down LOW. I'm more into movies than music and I can tell you a sub like this is REQUIRED. I put this head to head with the SVS Mid-sized cylider and they were pretty equal in sound, but this fits in a lower entertainment cabinet, so I chose this. My listening position is in the middle of the room, but this thingmMakes it seem almost as if you were against the wall! Just loads of great, accurate bass. I have mine near the corner, but it is not boomy due to high ceilings. For the money, you can't find a better sub.

Customer Service

Excellent! I got every question answered promptly and completely. They seem to have all their products on hand to compare to yours. And you don't have to have a reciept to get customer service! Their website is a little lacking on support for their older products.

Strength:

Deep Tight Bass Price Looked good and nice metal connectors Great power for the money

Weakness:

Noisy amp Size for some people(not me)

These subs have a great deep tight sound that I loved; however, it has an annoying noise so I took both of them back (Yes I had 2). I called the Definitive technical help line and the tech support guy said that it was normal and I could expect to hear it up to 12 inches away! The dealer's and both of my subs had this "white noise" coming out of the speaker when it was turned on and no music was playing. This is not high fidelity. I was very disappointed. I gave it 4 overall stars because it sounded excellent. I gave it 3 value stars because you really only get what you pay for with a noisy amp like this one. I only listen to music and my system consist of: CD Player - Sony CDP-CA70ES CD Player - Yamaha CDC-775 Tuner - Yamaha TX-950 Cassette - Kenwood KX-780 Pre-amp - Yamaha CX-2 Power Amp - Yamaha M-4 Power Amp - Onkyo M-504 (2 of them) Speakers - B&W 602S2 Speakers - Definitive Technology BP-2002 I was running 2 subs with the B&W speakers

Strength:

Deep and loud.

Weakness:

Not as tight with music as others (which tend to not be as deep--hence the conundrum.)

Have owned the pedecessor for over 7 years. (My buddies and I worked a great deal on 6 of these.) For home theatre, this sub can't be beat. It will extend beyond the audible (below 15Hz with punch). I have a very open space (700 sq ft.) and can rattle pictures throughout with the sub's gain at 1/3. My only caution is that it is not as tight as some other subs for midbass (for music). Maybe the newer model is better musically , but I'd audition the sub with music to make sure you are happy if you plan to use the sub for music and theatre. There is NO doubt is will work great for theatre!

Strength:

Deep powerfull Bass, very deep.

Weakness:

After a while the spikes work loose. But this is after nearly 10 years. Bass gets excessively boomy when driven hard.

This is not a tl+, but a Pf 15, the original model. I've had this sub for nearly 10 years now and it is going strong. Very powerfull, very deep. The only complaints I have had are that recently the brass inserts for the feet vibrated out of their holes. This was quickly remedied by replacing them with AudioSelection cones purchased from AA. Beyond that this unit has functioned very well when properly placed and adjusted. Strength:

Deep, pounding, rumbling bass. Compact size. I have to go listen to it now because i've been talking about it so much.

Weakness:

Wish it had the gloss end caps with the sock...you have to buy the pf1500 for that, but i couldn't justify doing that for the price difference.

this is a real go-getter of a sub. the pf15 added so much to my HT setup, that i had to go buy another one for music as well, and i was as equally amazed. The bass is astounding, and when i ran the THX test on my star wars dvd, the 20hz waves made my chest feel like it was about to cave in...it literally almost hurt! It is very very smooth, and quick at the same time. Size is a plus, also, as this is very compact for a 15" sub. I'm still trying out diffenet placement options, but no matter where it is in my room, it sounds excellent. Deftech hit jackpot on this one...and it's seemless with the rest of my definitive speaker lineup (bp30s, clr1000, bpx's). A+++

Strength:

Tight, quick bass. Reaches very low with authority!

Weakness:

None for its price.

Sorry there was not a place to review the PF15TL so I'll use this one as it is close to this older model. I bought this sub to add more slam to my Definitive Technology Pro-Cinema Pro Tower 400 system. I have always injoyed this subwoofer. It blends very well with the rest of my Old Pro Tower 400 system and my newer BP2002TL system. Room placement is very important to get this sub to sound tight without any boom. I have always had towers with built in powered subs so I never worry about placing it to match the fronts for sound stage. I do however adjust the phase control so the PF15TL fires at the same time as the fronts. I never use the built in cross over except when listening to two channel music, I engauge its built in cross over to play only 40 hrz and below. Because my BP2002TLs have 12" powered subwoofers, this big sub handels all the lowest notes and the sound is awesome. I just moved into a new place and have less room for all of these huge speakers. This time I placed this PF15TL under my end table right text to my sweet spot. I like the result of this placement as it shakes my chair and is still at the propper loadenss, 75db. This placement wont do for people with only one subwoofer handeling all bass. I have full range speakers all around so this works out fine for me. Oh make sure you spike this sub it really sounds better this way! This is my system: Pioneer Elite 520-HD (T) Sony DVP-S530D (DVD) Comcast Digital (Cable Box) Denon AVR-3300 (Receiver) Definitive Technology: BP2002TL (Front & Back) C/L/R2002 (Center) Pro-Sub 200TL (Center Sub) PF15L (LFE Only Sub) Philips Pronto (Remote) Tara Labs Component Video cables HTS800 Monster Power Conditioner 10 Guage Monster Speaker Wire Happy Listening

Strength:

Powerful and tight lower octave.

Weakness:

None

This sub does an outstanding job on very low frequencies even in a small room(22x12x8). I have the low pass crossover set at aound 55hz, where I think it does the best job of hiding itself from it's location, and the volume set at around 9 o'clock. The sub sits about 6 inches away from the rear corner. I have two Energy subs (eXL8's) playing the the midbass, and Polk RT 3000's playing everything from 80 hz and up. As well as this sub performed, I can't say that it was better than the two subs mentioned above, it definetely wasn't worst. Both the Paradigm and the Velodyne performed beautifully( if you have a chance try auditioning all three). For some reason I chose to go with the Def Tech...I guess because their dealer was half an hour closer. Highly recommended.
