Strength:

Loud bass the brings out that deep loud low end impact like the theaters.

Weakness:

PRICE thats why i built my own for a fraction of the price.

I did not buy one of these subs i built one i got the 12" magma subwoofer on the internet for $200 then i bought a 12" SLAPS pasive radiator for $60 online.
The Sub cabinet i built cost me $50 to build and i got a 500 watt rms plate amp to mount on the back of the cabinet for $350.
TOTAL PRICE: $660

If your thinking of buying this great sub i would highly recomend that you build one your self.
All the stuff like the woofer the amp and damping materials not to mention the slaps PR all on the internet.

Strength:

Extremely high output levels down to 20hZ. Very tight and surprisingly "quick" for a passive radiator design. Nice glossy black plexiglass top.

Weakness:

None yet.

This review is for the SuperNova MKIV-12.

The MKIV-12 is a huge improvement over the original and MKII versions of the SuperNova. Like previous reviewers stated, those models offered below average fidelity for music. Not so with this model. I auditioned this model as well as the 15" version to use as my HT sub and I was very surprised at how well it does with music. Any type of bass from acoustic to electric to pipe organ sounds very well rendered. This new model has a new passive radiator design that allows for monstrous excursions due to it's lack of basket mounted suspension. In addition, the MKIV system is tuned below 20hZ which helps avoid the phase delay problems that muddy up the transient response of so many other bass-reflex and passive radiator designs. Still, it is not as proficient as my current music sub - an M&K MX-105II with MX-350 drivers but it is above average nonetheless. I'd rate it 5 stars for HT because the output is tremendous and 4 stars for music because it is definitely better than average, so, overall I'll give it a 5 because there is no 4.5.

BTW, all of the above applies to the 15" MKIV model also. It is just as good on music while offering even more output and sick amounts of infrasonic bass. Highly recommended for HT.

Strength:

Loud,thunderous bass

Weakness:

none

I added the earthquake mark IV to my system to improve bass resonse. The fsr-12 is a nice sub, but lacked the real presence needed for true home theater. The other reviews here are very critical of this sub being "slow". I don't have the older model to test this, but I'm sure they are true, but I find the new model to be every bit as fast and tight as the velo, with alot more output. It did take some adjusting to make the two subs work in harmony, but the result is well worth the time. If I could only choose one sub, it would be this one or the 15" earthquake if money were no obect.
