Deep, loud, CLEAN bass... lots of flexibility in installation with "ported" system

User's manual could be better.

Previous subs no comparison to this sub. The HSu VTF-2 is far superior! Deep, punchy, crisp, CLEAR bass... plenty loud enough for my home theater AND great for music as well. At $449 including shipping directly from HSu REsearch, this is a no brainer! Highly recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been using this sub for a bit now. It has a very clean sound to it. Great for music or HT. Not "single note" bass like many subs out there. A sure gem in it's price range. Manual could be a bit better, but was adequate. It included a test CD for proper calibration, very nice! Variable Tuning Frequency Port. Bass is well defined, loud, and punchy. Works equally well in my room with both music and movies. Inexpensive price for an excellent bass sound. Free BASS CD to test your subwoofer out included with purchase.

It order to toggle the auto on/off feature, you need to open the sub up. This will be corrected with the next version of VTF-2 subwoofers. A very vague and non-descript owner's manual...but I didn't really need to read it.

Shopping for this subwoofer couldn't have been easier. HSU Research shipped the sub to me in perfect condition and it arrived exactly when they said it would. Installation and calibration took about 1 hour total. Very easy to install and get up and running. There was a break-in time of about 8 hours before the subwoofer really started to shine. Keeps sounding better every day. Sounds excellent on both music and movie soundtracks. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. It is one of the best tweaks I have made to my system in a long time. Good customer and technical support.

I bought this sub to go along with my klipsch synergy series system that i am building because i wasn't impressed with the synergy series subwoofers. When the sub arrived i immediately hooked it up and immediately realized that all of the positive reviews for this thing are no joke. I live in an apartment and i can no longer listen to music or watch a movie past half volume without disturbing my neighbors. The one time i did turn the volume all the way up the lady from the front desk had to come in my room and tell me to turn it down because people were complaining TWO FLOORS UP FROM ME. This is by far the best deal out there when it comes to home audio subs.

What a hunk of mass this thing is! It's larger than I'd thought it would be - not a problem for me, but my wife was a bit concerned about where to put it. It just doesn't matter now that I played her favorite DVD, Lord of the Rings. She thinks it's about the smartest choice I'd ever made. I have to agree, At first I wasn't happy with the sound - too "boomy". Well, I ended up turning down the volume on the unit to something like 1/3 volume, and it's GREAT! Very natural! Explosions, thunder, music- all very lifelike. The sound rivals what I hear in theaters. I can't imagine wanting "more" than this, although I've seen that HSU makes a bigger one. My room is not a perfect cube - more like a "U" shape, but this sub seems to me to be aperfect addition to my system.

Well, if I have to nit-pick, the HSU logo sticker on the front of the sub does not reflect the quality of the company. And by the way, I am quite confident that any negative review you find on this sub has been authored by someone who has either not positioned the sub ideally, or is searching for the two 15s in the trunk sound of car audio.

Should our country ever become a communist society, the first thing the new government should do is give every household a VTF-2. For me, clean, accurate bass has just been inserted into my hierarchy of daily needs. If you are reading this review in hopes of finding that one user review that will free your mind of any concerns about buying a product you have never heard, please point your curser at the address line of you browser and head to the HSU site with payment method in hand. JUST DO IT. I debated for months on a sub and – after reading every review on the net – decided that the VTF-2 was my best chance at happiness. Turns out the reviews were dead-on. I have listened to every CD and DVD-A in my collection and have finally found the sonic bliss that I have been searching for since the innocent beginnings to my crack-like addiction to home audio. NO boom unless boom is called for. My listening environment demanded a small sub with big sound quality, and I am confident that I made the best selection available today. Certainly, there are other HSU subs that will out-perform the VTF-2; but if you are limited buy size, as I was, or by budget, please do not hesitate to enter those Visa numbers.

I'm chimming in with other reviewers. This sub rocks. I have a smallish size listining room (audio only). My speakers are Celestion DL8's which are still pretty darn good but lack bottom end. Now it's like I just bought new speakers. I'm playing around with it all the time. The cd they send you is nice for set up but when thinking of a music with thick quick bass to test sub-woofers I'm thinking, Yes "Close to the Edge." I've owned this sub for 6 months now and when I turn it off my system sounds like a clock radio. Not quite but it makes such a difference, you feel the bass like you do in person. I know many speaker company's pooh pooh subs but if you are not feeling bass when you should than it's not true reproduction of a live performance. This sub will put you there cheaper than most.
