Strength:
- Amazing bass for such a small footprint and pricepoint
Weakness:
manual is a printed out couple of pages from a cheap personal computer. Textures look is not for some. I have been searchign for a good sub that I could afford for over a year now and after hearing enough good things about hsu I decided to give them a try. I called the company and they told me to come in to demo their subs since I live in ca. The HSU rep also told me that I would receive a 10% discount, tax would be taken off, and obviously no shipping if I decided I wanted one there. upon my demo session I listened to a variety of music and home theater and was very impressed with everything I heard and doubted that the vtf-2 only had a 10inch driver. It blew away anything I could get from the klipsh 200watt sub I had that was priced at $800 so I was sold. It took a short while to break this baby in and it is sounding great in my HT setup. Great deal...I couldn't believe that a sub could sound that rich and powerful for only $450. Value rating I would give a 6 if I could. Similar Products Used: Klipsh 200watt sub |

Strength:
Awesome subwoofer. Good value & quality sounds great & you can feel the sound reverberate inside you.
Weakness:
I don't like the issue with the power coard (Humming type feed back) see review for comments. I love my VTF-2. I feel it has good value & that the factory is most helpful with questions even before you buy. I bought this Subwoofer based on reviews here & in magizine reviews. Glad I did as I tried demoing other brands in person & was never impressed. This one goes deep & if you want to feel it kick you in the chest just turn it up.Even with the foam plug in it is the best I have heard. Now for the power coard thing. I read about this problem in other reviews. I felt I would not have any problems because my home is wired correctly & grounded properly. I got the feedback from my unit & bought a 3 to 2 prong adaptor for it & it cured the problem. Now my question. If so many people have the same problem why not install a polarized plug from the factory? Thats a plug that has a 1 wide & 1 skinny blade on it so you have to plug it into a outlet correctly (Wide side is neutral) All feed back would be eliminated & no one would have to deal with it. Just a thought.Anyway it sounds great & the fix was easy. & Yes you can vibrate your home & rattle your windows. My kids were watching the Pearl Harbor DVD & I just came home I got to the front poarch & I honestly thought a building was coming down nearby & turned to look. The low rumble was so real I am not kidding it fooled me. Luckily this can be adjusted by turning it down. But it's nice to know if you want to go there you can hehe. Not Easily Adapted to my truck for road trips....... :-( This is just an incredibly well designed and produced powered module. In the 30 odd years I been in and out and around the industry from Low-Fi to the Lunatic Fringe I cannot think of such a well executed dollar for dollar value. Strength:
Everything you can possibly think of. Tight, clean, low with very little distortion, vibrates walls in house, and beats most subs several times it price.
Weakness:
Just the humming I've experienced like everyone else. Easy fix though so it's no biggie. I don't know where to begin to summarize this sub. All I know is I went out on a limb to get this sub because I wasn't able to audition it. I've read a lot of personel and highly acclaimed magazine reviews. I thought what the heck I'll give these babies a shot. Let me tell you I was not at all disappointed with this sub. It met and exceeded my expectations for such a low price range. Wow, I'm amazed. All these other companies with high price subs should be ashamed to allow such a low price sub to out perform their high price subs. Maybe HSU doesn't have a big name for itself yet. But watch out this company is on the move. Similar Products Used: Trialed Sunfire, B&W, Klipsch, Definitive, and Velodyne. |

Strength:
POWERFUL, VERSATILE WITH MANY ADJUSTMENTS POSSIBLE
Weakness:
NONE very fluid sound when coupled with my ascend acoustics speakers, the sound is realistic and broad. HSU factory always willing to answer questions and very knowledgeable. you will not be disappointed if you give it a chance. the sound is like one complete sound not a sound coming from a certain area or from that sub or that speaker. it truly envelopes you!!! I am pleased. using a consumer reports best buy receiver technics sa-dx 1050 and the ascend acoustics speakers(also very impressive), an affordable but perfect combination with no compromises |

Best quality Subwoofer on the Planet for the money.
Weakness:
None I own a VTF-2 which has been the hottest reviewed subwoofer on the planet. It's hard to believe that you can get such high end qulity out of a budget priced component. Hsu has just announced that they will begin shipping the new 12 inch 250 watt VTF-3 the second week in February. The folks at www.nax .com are taking pre orders already at a special introductory price of only $749.00 and free shipping. I ordered mine today...... Similar Products Used: Hsu VTF-2 |

Strength:
Amazing sound, price.
Weakness:
None I purchased this sub along with the ascend acoustics 5.1 surround sound package, and it was the best purchase of my life. The ascend speakers are phenomenal, and work really well with this subwoofer, but this sub is the cornerstone of the system, and continues to amaze me. Absolutely no boominess, and it's always contributing to the great sound even when it's not a bass-heavy scene. Movies like Saving Private Ryan (opening scene) and Final Fantasy sound amazing when the sub is asked to take over. I woudl have liked to see an instruction MANUAL rather than the pages, that's a bit annoying, but a minor complaint in light of the sub's performance. The size is definitely larger than it seems on the web site, and the finish may not appeal to everyone (XX factor I give it a 6 out of 10), but for me these aren't concerns, and I can think of nothing negative to say about the sound quality this sub gives in both music and movies. |
