WHEN I BOUGHT THIS SUB I DID NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT AUDIO AND FREQUENCIES THAT A SUB WAS SUPOSE TO WORK.HELL THE DAMM THING SOUNDED GOOD AT CIRCUIT CITY.I USE IT 90%FOR MOVIES VIEWING AND THIS STILL ROCKS.MY ROOM IS SMALL AND I HAVE NO NEED FOR A BIGGER MORE EXPENSIVE SUB.I HAVE SOURCE TECH TOWER SPEAKERS FOR MY FRONTS AND THEY PUT ENOUGH BASS SO I RARELY IT FOR MUSIC.I STILL LIVE IN AN APARTMENT SO UNTIL I DON'T MOVE TO BIGGER HOUSE THIS BABY WILL BE THE BOTTOM END FOR NOW.$399 FOR 5 YEARS OF CHEAP BASS THAT'S NOT BAD.BUT IF YOU HAVE A LARGE ROOM AND LIKE MUSIC MORE THAN MOVIES I RECOMMEND A BETTER SUB ,PROBABLY A VELODYME.SPECIALY FOR THE PRICE IF'VE SEEN IT ON LINE FOR HALF PRICE I PAID FOR ,THIS SUB IS GREAT FOR A POOR GUY ON A BUDGET.I CAN'T COMPLAIN.GIVEN THE CIRCUMSTANCES A SAID ABOVE A HAVE TO GIVE IT 5 STARS FOR VALUE AND 4 FOR THE PERFORMENCE

Air port on side, this creates a dilima in regards to speaker placement

I purchased the sub against the advice of my audiophilic friend Robert Raynor. Robert has a discerning ear for audio quality and he has a simple philosophy " it only cost fifty cents more to go first class". His answer to my subwoofer question was the Velodyne CT-100 ( about twice the price) For this one time a must disagree I compared the sub with the Vel and the sound was close. Too close to justify doubling to cost. Simply put..............this sub sounds GOOD.

The compace size also makes this a winner for me as my media room is 11x12 and I ran out of space years ago. The sound is clean and you can feel the music and the effect. This sub has great tonal quality and does not have the boomy sound that I have noticed on other subs.

The secret to any sub is proper tuning and with the Denon AVR1600, fine tuning the BU-2 is simple. You can achieve earth shattering bass without distortion and without the boominess. Too little sound will negate the purpose of the subwoofer.

The only problem I have encountered is speaker placement. With an air port on the right side of the sub, placement is critical. Try several locations before you settle on one spot. (Will not give you a hernia either)

If you can find one, ( they are scarce) buy it. Works well in small rooms. Even if you upgrade later on, this baby will be good to use on another system in the house.

Also purchased this sub from netmarket.com & for $187 its hard to beat! Using in a music only system with a pair of NHT Superone's. Its a seamless installation & makes a huge improvement! The only fault I can see is that it uses spring-clips for connecting speaker cables! A solid four star recommendation!

Got this sub from netmarket also. I love this sub, can be powerful if you want it to be. I love the fact that I cant tell where the bass is coming from so its not directional. For the price I got it, it cant be beat....

this jl sub has awsome strenth and is very powerful and ive had it cranked all the time for like since i had the thing witch was feb 2001 and it has not worn out all that much it is very strong it still sounds like i just went and bought it 30 minites ago

I bought this product for 299 and i think at this sub is the best sub in this price range.

I bought this piece of gear for $300.00 dollars. This is a good sub at it's price range. Considering the price's of sub's now a day's this is a genuin deal.It sounds solid and has a small footprint and is easy to place I would recomend
it for a small to medium listining area. If you want to get really bassssy you
could get two.
