Strength:

Great base, fits seamlessly into my system.

Weakness:

No remote.

This sub rocks! It shakes the house with great base. At first, I thought I was getting a lot of distortion. But it turned out that the extra noise I was hearing was coming from pictures on the walls and a few of the windows. After securing everything that was rattling, the noise was gone. All that's left now is the great base. It fits nicely with the rest of my Infinity speakers mated with a Yamaha RX-V2500. Music is full. Rock n Roll rocks the house! Classic and jazz have a wider dynamic range now. Movies have incredable punch. The scene from Jurasick Park where the water gets ripples from the approching T-rex hits home when I see ripples in my glass to match. When watching the Fith Element you can feel the engines of the ship you're on.

Strength:

Great bass response, Very low, Lot's of power.

Weakness:

Wish it could be remote controled, But where are you going to see that for the price

Well let me say that the other reviewer must have got a bad sub because this thing is not hollow. It produces thundering bass. I have to walk around the house and re-adjust everything hanging on the walls, after listing to music or watching a movie. I listen to hard rock and heavy metal and my wife listens to r&b and it all sounds great. I find that any more than half way on the gain starts to overpower my living room. As for the last review remember that placement of a subwoofer is critical. You can not just plug it in and put it anywhere, take the time to find the best place for it. The best way to do this is to turn it up get on your knees and move around the floor to follow the vibration and place it so the vibration hits the main listing position. I auditioned many subs before making my decision, Velodyne, Klipsch, JBL, Athena, and Polk. Non that compared for the price sure there are better at a bigger price but for under $500.00 there isn't trust me ,I tried to find one. My system is comprised of a Harman Kardon AVR-335, Harman Kardon DVD-22, Klipsch SF-2,SS-1,SC-1, and the Infinity PS-12. All of which was purchased after hours and hours of research. All of which for the money could not have been beat.

Strength:

A power switch is a nice addition, in case you'd like to shut off the unit for long periods (vacations, etc.) The wood finish is more of a match to my RS-8's and RS-3's.

Weakness:

Weak, empty sounding bass. All the life has been sucked from this subwoofer. I'd recommend an equivalently priced JBL PB12.

First of all, I love Infinity. I spent thousands of dollars about 5 years ago to purchase my RS-8's, RS-3's, CC-3, and the heart of my system, the BU-120. A few weeks ago, the BU-120 digital switcher ceased to work. A problem, I was told by Infinity, that was not rare. Unfortunately, the company that made the part had gone out of business, and now Infinity could only replace it. So, they sent me the PS-12. According to the specifications, it has the exact same freq. response, same size driver and identical crossover frequency. In fact, it even boasts 300w (the BU-120 was 150w). However! Upon hooking it up, I couldn't have been more disappointed! I used to have bass that shook my windows and floorbeds, not I just get a dull rumble. In fact, I have to turn on the 8" drivers on my RS-8's just to fill out the empty sound. I honestly don't know what the problem is, other than they may have used inferior parts compared to the BU-120. Another possibility is that this unit was known to be sub-par, which is why they shipped it to me as a free replacement. (It didn't come with an instruction book, which lends some credence to that idea.) The output level on my BU remained impressively at about 5, but I have to max out the PS and still get nowhere near the richness of bass. But like I said, this may be an anomoly. I have been consistently happy with my Infinity speakers and they just may be trying to unload a slightly defective unit on me. If you're interested in purchasing one, KEEP THE RECEIPT. Give the unit a thorogh store check and be demanding when you return home. I'd love to hear from any buyers that found their units to be performing wonderfully. I'm just a little disappointed.
