Strength:
Good power and punch. Great for HT sound effects.
Weakness:
No power off button. My purchase decision was based on research here at this site, and well as "Editors choice" designation and 91% rating on CNET. I just hooked mine up last weekend, and I'm not as happy with it as I thought I'd be ... that's based on the audio reviews. It's not as musical as I expected. So far I find that it's OK for movies, R&B, rock or anything with a lot of electronic bass. But for acoustic bass like you get in "straight ahead" jazz - it's a little muddled and not quite crisp enough. Maybe I haven't given it enough "break-in" time, but I'm leaning toward sending it back and opting for a slightly higher end (albeit more expensive) unit ... something on the level available from acoustic concepts - either a Quake or Titan. Strength:
When the unit worked it was awesome.
Weakness:
It broke twice! It has no power off button and pops when it is unplugged. My second unit just broke again. Same scenario as before. It began making loud pops during movies. It then became a constant humming and buzzing with pops in between. Even when there is no input to it, it just buzzes, humms and pops. I think it is a manufacturer's defect and should be addressed by JBL. I have seen many reviews with the symptoms I have described, and it has happened twice to me. I am a big fan of JBL, but I can't give them a third chance on this one. As a result of this unpleasant experience, I will soon be switching to one of the BOSE Lifestyle systems with a non-powered subwoofer. If anyone has suggestions on a similar product, please feel free to reply. Similar Products Used: First time owning a subwoofer |

Strength:
Building shaking bass.
Weakness:
none This is one incredible sub. I've hooked it up to my Yamaha rxv-800 and now my neighbors hate me. The bass makes your hair stand up. I have to turn the level all the way down coz I live in a prewar apartment in manhattan and the bass travels everywhere. |

Strength:
Deep low bass and great quality!
Weakness:
Doesn't have a power switch I read the reviews here, and bought it a little concerned about the reliability of the Sub. Well, I've got it for 1 week and still great. I used a test CD to check the lowest frequency that it plays, and it got between 24 and 27hz!! Has more buttons to control everything you want (better than the sony at this point) LFE or Normal switch, Phase Control, Crossover Frequency and Volume Level. My living room is a 30"x13" and it shakes everything! Similar Products Used: none |

Wow, I guess the bugs that haunted the PSW series of Subs are now "popping" up with this one. I've owned this sub since 10/00. Mine has been a great purchase. It does a good job with music and voice. I've installed 4 of these units without a problem. Now I'm a bit leary, although I can return the units I buy OTC. |

Strength:
I was impressed with the sound for the two weeks that it worked.
Weakness:
a problem with the model. I was excited to find this sub for $195 after reading the reviews. Received it on the second day after ordering, hooked it up and was impressed with the bass for the price. Within two weeks, bass output disappeared and a substantial popping noise appeared every 30-90 seconds when the sub was inactive. It took substantial receiver volume for the sub to turn on at which point the popping disappeared but bass output was non-existent. Returned it for credit and bought the $200 Sony sub. Given the number of problems appearing recently with this model, not the best product to be ordering by internet due to shipping costs. |

Strength:
Clean, tight bass. Down-firing 10" woofer. Ported to the rear.
Weakness:
None. Nada. Zilch. Bubkus. Purchased this subwoofer to augment my JBL S312 mains. Sized perfected to suit my small HT arrangement. Like previous reviewer, decided to spare no expense in the purchase of the subwoofer cable, so no experience with the hum problem referenced herein. Room-shaking bass output that makes the walls breath. Serious bang for the buck. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Powerful punch and looks very beatuful with two little lights in front
Weakness:
Hum, Hum, Hum when not in use with power on. Damn HUM Well, powerful with clarity as you can get for a $220. Every thing except the HUM. I was very surprised that PB 10 without a main power switch hums like a broken fan. Is there anybody with quick fix for that?( thanks in advance). I may return it for that ugly looking Sony SA-WM40. Every time I turn it on it's POP even scared me. Similar Products Used: SONY SA-WM40 |

Strength:
It would make a nice step stool.
Weakness:
Everything else. As soon as I hit the "play" button on my Toshiba DVD player, this sub started to thud. And "thud" is the word for it, as this piece of equipment is among the least musical pieces of consumer electronics gear I have encountered in some time. It was as though a 17 year old kid had backed an old Ford Escort loaded with 12" kicker boxes into my family room. It exhibited very poor pitch definition, and audible port noise. To top it all off, as soon as I unplugged it, the amplifier fried! And after only five hours of use! This will be my first and last purchase of JBL equipment. Upon boxing this garbage back up and requesting an RMA#, I ran out and bought a Paradigm sub from a local dealer for less than $100 more than I paid for this. I suggest you do the same.
