Strength:

Great 250 Watt power. Sounds great and performs well

Weakness:

Bass it loud enough that my neighbors complain about it.

Great great sub for the money. I love this sub. Easy hookup. PErforms great. Sounds great. Good for movies and music. I have it paired with a denon receiver, pioneer dvd player, and jbl northridge series speakers. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a great sub with a low price tag that performs well. I would also highly recommend the online merchant I purchased this unit off of. Fast delivery at a great price.

Strength:

Room thumping and shaking bass with no distortion

Weakness:

A slight hum when in standby mode

Shakes the house with no distortion. I added this unit several months after I bought the rest of my home theater set-up, I noticed an immediate improvement in sound reproduction right away-particularly in movies.

Strength:

Deep, Loud Bass, Options

Weakness:

NONE

It's Loud, bass is deep and thunderous, it shakes the house, what more could you want. We all want the Movie Theater sound, this will do it.

Thought about the PB10 but liked the fact you don't have to turn the PB12 on and off, it powers down automaticly, also like the JBL 12 inch woofer for movies, for music the 10 is fine.

By this, you won't be sorry.

Bought this at consumer-direct.com for 289.00, a week later that had it for 249.00, sent them an email on the lower price and they credited me back the difference. Now that's a stand up company.

Strength:

Clean, powerful, inexpensive

Weakness:

none (considering it's competition at this price)

Bought locally w/extended 10yr transferable warranty for $350 after tax.

I've had it for over 6 months and after tweaking with both the LFE and normal settings, I'm sticking with normal for now. It is somewhat different in that despite choosing LFE (the setting designed for a sub pre out) the volume dial still works. So, apparently all that choosing LFE does is disable the Xover. You'll have to figure out the optimal gain structure on your own.

This is a very capable sub for most applications. It is too much for my townhouse, and the neighbors know when it's movie night. I've had this sub a while and never heard much about it from others (though I have always been happy with it). It's good to see I'm not alone. I actually bought but the older 112 model, but when I got to the loading dock the box was trashed and the sub was damaged, so the saleman showed me the newer PB line and I gave it a shot. I believe you'd have to spend nearly twice as much (selectively) to get noticeable gains. It's a very good performer for a >$500 sub.

Strength:

250 Watts!!! Downfiring

Weakness:

Absolutely NONE!!!

After much debate on whether to purchase this online or not, I finally gave in when I found a place that sold it for this price! I considered the PB10, but the PB12 was much more appealing to me. I wanted to bid on it on ebay, but they wouldn't ship to Canada, so I went on Yahoo shopping and did a search. I couldn't resist the price!

I've only had this sub for about a week, but I'm in love with it! This Sub is very responsive. I have tested it on various DVD's such as TOPGUN, Terminator 2, Enemy at the Gates and various others. I have also put this sub to the test to many bass intensives cds. This baby responds and seriously puts a punch to any audio track.

I first i was concerned because I have a pair of Audiosphere Research loudspeakers with 12 inch woofers already in them and they produce some serious bass with my Kenwood VR3090 Reciever. When I turned on the sub mix function in the reciever I noticed that it took out some of the punch from my main towers, but when I crank up the volume on the reciever, I notice that the sub, kicks in a lot more than what the main speakers could before.

There is a slight pop when you turn it on, but it isn't loud and there is no hum whatso ever. Not only does it look beautiful, but the design is very clean. The speaker connectors are all gold plated which is a big extra. I have yet to try the piece of granite as suggested previously, but I just might since I'm in the basement and have a some carpet.

Overall this subwoofer is really good. If you can get it for the price that I paid for, then it a sweet deal!

Strength:

very powerful (still havent found the top end yet) has a nice liquidy sound to it, and it looks pretty nice as well. oh yeah thank you to who put the power swicth on it

Weakness:

too much bass for my apt (is that a weakness?)

for the longest time i thought the reason why my system sounded warm was either the speakers (acoustic research) or the receiver (sony db830). As it turns out it was the subwoofer. Before the jbl i had the infinity 150 watt 12". with that subwoofer it always seemed to be what i cant do. Now with the jbl its what i cant do so that i dont get kicked out of my apt ;). But at any rate when i changed subwoofers my speakers improved by 2 fold. whereas the old subwoofer was the week point in my stereo this subwoofer is the anchor. Suprisingly enough shipped to my house (although the infinity was a year earlier) they were within 5 dollars of each other. Of course i got a great deal from netmarket. I first ordered the older jbl model, the pswd112 (which i hear is a nightmare) then i got a call from their distributor and they said they were out and would just send us the new one so for 230 with shipping i got this subwoofer. This is why i love netmarket so much, they defintlty screw up alot mainly because of the way they are setup. but due to their ineptness i repeatidly get an even better deal than they intended, i.e. i have 3 of the same speakers which make up my fronts and center. But anyways i love this subwoofer and you will be hard pressed to find a better one for under 600 bucks

Strength:

Awesome Bass Response

Weakness:

None So Far

Just received the PB12 a couple of weeks ago. The sounds is more defined and noticeable as compared to my previous Subwoofer (pswd112). The pb12 was a replacement to my psw112. Yes, I had the same issues as described in the "other" message forum. It blew once, had it repaired and began noticing a transformer hum after a couple months after the repair.
I must say JBL (Joe Chinnici) provided excellent and timely support during the time I was having problems with the psw-d112.

Strength:

Deep, powerful bass. Crossover and frequency range leave nothing to be desired.

Weakness:

none

This sub is the best addition I've made to my home theater. I've been shopping for a good sub for about 4 months now, I've heard pretty much all of the subs you can hear at a store. Out of all the ones I heard, this one has got to be the best. It's powerful enough to rattle things nearly on the opposite side of my house. The fact that it is downfiring creates good diffuse bass that you can really feel. I recommend the PB12 to anyone who likes good, rich sounding music and loves to feel like you're in the middle of a movie explosion. If you're lucky you can go to Video Only and talk them down to $300 (tagged at $350).

Strength:

Round full developed bass

Weakness:

slight hum that seems to quiet after a couple of weeks

The speaker is flat wonderful for the buck. Other subs that I looked at didn't fill the room and apear to come from "Every where". The adjustments allow the speaker to be dialed in with amazing detail. Watch it, you can get carried away finding the limits of this baby and drop one of your wife's pictures off the wall. This can spoil all that you have worked up to. (conviencing her that the 65" hdtv and audio equipment will look great in the living room takes time and good people skills) Look at best buy for returns or floor models. They are the most returned speakers due to the fact that everyone cranks them up to max and over powers the system. Take advantage of of others inability to understand audio.
