Strength:
Price and performance
Weakness:
Very Minor, given it's cost versus the competition I've grown to like the KSW-12 even more after upgrading my subwoofer interconnect and speaker cable. Presently using IXOS cables and interconnects. The result was improved frequency response and bass output now tighter. Similar Products Used: None |

Purchased the KSW12 as a match with the NHT Super Zero's for a very nice Sub/Satellite combination! The NHT's are not very efficient (probably because they are sealed, not ported)and require an extra turn on the volumn knob, thus putting extra signal into the sub. I have the KSW12 amplifier level set at 2 (out of 10), which gives me incredibly clean bass. The NHT's are probably a little too small for my livingroom, but this combo is the best I've heard. I contemplated over the Energy Take five w/the 10" Sub and the Klipsch Quintet with the KSW 10. My main objective was to have the smallest system possible (least likely to be seen) with the best sound possible. The NHT Super Zeros with the Klipsch KSW12 is amazingly more musical than the the other combos. If there is a better Sub/Sat combo, I haven't heard it. |

This sub is very powerful and much better than anything I looked at in it's class ($500 range). Klipsch has reduced the subwoofer line to 3 models, and this one is right in the middle. It is definately more powerful than the KSW-200, despite having the same driver size (12"). I heard that the KSW-200 had vibration and rattling problems. I can hear none with the KSW-12. The unit is constructed nicely, living up to the Klipsch reputation for quality. |

This is a great sub! I picked up one new in the box for $275, and have really loved it. It's connected via a THX certified line level cable to one of the sub outputs on my Yamaha RX-V2092, and this thing rocks. I can't imagine needing any more bass output than this, especially positioned correctly in the room. Pairs up nicely with my other Klipsch speakers. |

Just to further my happiness with this sub. Tested it a night ago with a bass test cd, got down to a clean and loud 27hz. It did pick up down to 22hz, but nto very loud. Had the dail at 4.5. |

After listening and researching many subs in this price range, I found the KSW 12. It sounded weak at the dealer. But I brought it home anyhow. Hooked it up. And said I am glad that I brought it home. Rattled everything in my den and other things. Its a great ht sub, good musical. Goes well with my Bose 301 series 4. It is far from under powered. I listen to blues and classic rock. And action moovies. Just great. A littel break in period probably would be good for it. I recommand this sub. Small and powerfull.. |

I'll start with a system diagram for the picky types. A pioneer VSX-24tx reciever, Mission 771 as front and rear, 77c as center, KSW-12 for bass. And when I say bass, I mean BASS!!! Dont be fooled by this sub's conservative 105 watt rating. It is loud enough to shake my medium sized room and then some. I've listened to subs in the price range, Velodyne CT100, Mission AS1, Boston VR500 and some others. These three all have the same fatal flaw: well two, actually. 1. The 10" woofer, for seriously deep HT tracks its just not big enough. 2. They are all front firing! All three of the subs were extremely easy to place with a variety of music tracks, where as the down firing Klipsch fills the room with tight, deep bass. The only instance were I would recommend using a front firing sub is if two are used, one left and one right. Otherwise you can tell exactly where they are coming from. The Klipsch is an unbeatable deal. A great price (I got mine for $321) and Serious power. It's also a great musical sub, unlike other subs in the $300 price range like the Infinity Bu-120 and the JBL PSW-112. They have a great bottom end, but lack the tightness and overall response to be good at any kind of quick beats. The KSW-12 is a great buy, unless you have a large to very large room, in which case I would recommend the KSW-15. |

I am very happy with this sub. I probably could have gotten by with the 10, but for only $250, why not go with the 12. It will rattle the ice in your drink. I have it set on 4...and that is plenty. |

I've been wanting to add a sub to my HT system for awhile now. After doing some listening and reading the reviews here I had it down to the Velodyne Ct100 and the klipsch KSW12. I went with the Klipsch because of it's downward firing design, my main speakers are a Polk satellite/sub system, it's bass module is down firing and I've never noticed any directivity in the bass. My receiver is a Yamaha RX-V995, I set my speaker types to all SMALL in it's setup menu. This supposedly directs everything below 90Hz. to the sub out jack. The Klipsch is set at around 5 with the cutoff at about 100Hz. This gave great bass with music sources, it kind of unmuddies the lower ranges without being boomy. This setting was a bit too much for movies but there is an adjustment in the 995 that lets you back off the sub level, it droped it 2db and it's fine now. Got the sub from my local Tweeter Etc. store for 460.00 with a monster sub cable thrown in. |
