Strength:
Deep, powerful bass that you can hear and feel! Excellent upper bass attack, very tight, refined, and articulate. Extremely quick for 12" drivers ... and it has a detachable powercord. Does not bottom out at high volumes and is an excellent sub for movies and music! Build quality is excellent.
Weakness:
None for this Mk II version... This review is for the Mk II version of the MX-350thx. The features added to the Mk II version are better drivers and a detachable powercord. Also, the Mk II version does not seem to strain at any volume, but the Mk I version did bottom out when it was pushed extremely hard. It's possible that M&K may have improved the amp as well, but I'm not sure. Strength:
Precise bass and increased detail on whole system.
Weakness:
Needs a little bit more explanation of switches for non-THX users. Since I have not tried this sub with other speakers other than M&K's S-150THX series, this review would be impartial to other speakers. Two days ago I had a Velodyne VA-810 sub with a whopping 50 watt amp. This sub was running along with the S-150's. I was not even close to what the true detail and power this system could offer until I bought the 350THX. Now with the system complete, I am getting the clearest music and theater sound I have ever heard. The Velodyne dragged its bass. It had no punch. Everything seemed to have bass. Now with the 350THX, everything is clear now because the bass is clear and precise, and has punch when needed. The 350 watt amp really helps. Even though my Yamaha DSP-A1 has an internal crossover for the sub, I used the crossover on the sub itself. This greatly increased headroom and overall seperation on all my speakers. All this and the sub has not even broken in yet. For $1400 this sub is the sub to end all subs. Similar Products Used: Velodyne Sub and checked out Klipsh, B & W. |

I also have the MK MX350 THX SUBIt gives you the feeling that it can reproduce bass across the entire audible frequency range. It, M&K, understands that the lower the bass, the more amps it needs to deliver it so you hear the super low tones you sometimes wonder if you are missing with other home/auto systems. I like that it is fully adjustable too....I LOVE THIS THING, Thank you M&K. I have yet to hear it distort at any level.... |

Strength:
fast, tight, smooth bass The M&K 350 is nothing short of amazing... this is the best sounding subwoofer I've heard to date. Avoid listening to this sub unless it is in your price range; it will spoil everything you audition afterwards. The 350 performs extremely well with whatever is thrown at it, and is incredibly non-localized (blends w/mains very well... seems sonicly invisible). |

Strength:
relatively small footprint, build quality, mid and upper bass quality
Weakness:
low bass is weak compared to much cheaper subwoofers Frankly, I don't understand how M&K subs get such high ratings. While the mid and upper bass quality was accurate, tight, and musical, the lower bass was very weak compared to other subwoofers. I lived with this sub, the Paradigm PW-2200, and the NHT SubOne for a week. Even near a room corner, the M&K was only flat down to about 24-25 Hz. In the exact same position, the Paradigm is flat down to 20 Hz (the NHT dropped out at 28 Hz). The Paradigm also has about 90-95% of the upper and mid bass musicality of the M&K. And even though NHT's SubOne didn't cut it, their $1200 SubTwo is much better and sounds very much like the M&K, for $700 less. Meanwhile, I kept the Paradigm, for which I paid $720. Personally, if I was set on getting an M&K, I would get an MX-105 or MX-125. The MX-350 THX is way overpriced for what it delivers. Similar Products Used: Paradigm PW-2200, NHT SubOne |

Strength:
Rock solid bass at all levels does not seem to strain at high volume levels
Weakness:
Large size Frankly ,I don't understand how people can take wonderful best in class products such as the MX 350 and give them such a low rating. In my sound room I can reach a flat 20Hz without any problem using an Audio Control rta analyzer and the IASCA car audio test cd. Also the mid and upper bass quality of the MX 350 are as accurate and musical as anything I have heard short of a rel 10' but with much higher spl.I have listened to the Paradigm 2200 in several rooms and can promise you that the MX 350 will out perform this sub on any material and at any volume level. I can't belive that NHT subs were even mentioned in a review of the MX 350 , NHT subs have a very tight musical sound but they leave much to be desired for home theater. Personaly I belive people try to justify there own buying decisions by downgrading other products. How many recording studio's use Paradigm subwoofers? Dolby /Dts ? Don't belive every review you read as I belive 90% are bias. Please don't take me wrong Paradigm and NHT make wonderful subwoofers but let's compare apple's to apple's! sorry Tyler Similar Products Used: Sunfire true subwoofer MKII ,Velodyne HGS series , All Paradigm subs , NHT SUB 1/2 , M&K MX125 MKII , B&W ASW 3000 |

Strength:
Excellent control, effortless power, great with music or movies.
Weakness:
Hums, annoying enough to get rid of it. I got my 350 in April 1998, the first thing I noticed when I plugged it in was an annoying 50Hz hum. I decided to persist. The sound was fantastic, there was no overwhelming boominess, just a clean, effortless efficiency. Driving out powerful effects on movies was almost frightening, adding subtle bass nuances to music quite overwhelming. Similar Products Used: M&K MX-5000THX II |
