Strength:
clipping or distortion limiting electronics, ability to provide deeeeep base tones on movies such as "END OF DAYS"looks beautiful too!
Weakness:
have not found anything yet. This really is a superior subwoofer with its internal anti-distortion electronics youre always guaranteed an undistorted base tone,it"ll go deep and loud,no clipping, really amazing.I use this sub with both movies and music and Buddy Guys new cd "Sweet Tea" has plenty of base guitar and this sub just does a fantastic job in helping my mirage OM6s get the rich base ambience in this recording right, it seems to fill the room with clean base yet really not disturbing the midrange or upper frequiencies at all.It simply stays out of the midrange, the 50htz. crossover setting is superb for this. Also for anyone interested "Widescreen Review" magazine rated this sub as one of the best LFE subs on the planet, I think that about says it all, oh I know everyone knows what a good sub this is for movies,I just thought Id give it a plug for music- cant wait to add a pioneer elite HD710 to my mirages, they look like they were made for each other!!!!! My current speaker setup is,Legacy 1`s for my mains, the Silver screen center,Paradigm mini monitor front effects,Polk lsfx for rears.I have to admit I don`t need the sub for 2-channel listening but for movies the BPS-400 delivers incredible impact.Highly recommended for movie buffs. |

Strength:
Really rocks for Hometheater. Great for music as well.
Weakness:
Size, but it looks pretty impressive. I have an all NHT system, Supertwos, Supercenter, SuperZeroes and I had 2 SW1P's for the rear channels and a subone on the LFE. This is all driven by a Pioneer Elite 24X receiver. I replaced all of the subs with one BPS 400. I must say this is the most impressive sub for the price I have heard. It provides the bass that you can feel. Tweeter is now selling these for $800, use to go for around $1,000. Great deal on a great sub. Similar Products Used: NHT SW1P, Subone. |

Awesome sub! I heard this thing in a nearby HT store mated with a Lexicon DC-1, although there a noticable boost in the upper bass ( largely attributed to the room ) it was awesome. I'm sure when I get it home, and with some placement tweaking, it'll sound much better. What really won me over was the way it avoided the usual "boom" sound and the way it could throw you back into your seat was muy impressive. The most notable demo I was given was the opening of Goldeneye starting with where he rolls out of the building. It was pretty much quiet (due to content), though nicely articulating the gunshots. Then the part where the plane flys overhead came up, and WOW! It threw me back into my seat with enough output to implode a hamster. It reproduced each put-put of the engine cleanly and without strain. I'm actually going to listen some more subs before I buy it to see if I can find the same level of performance in a smaller package. Price is of no objection, I've found several retailers that will give it to me for $800. All in all, a great find. |

Strength:
Plays deep, loud, plus it's very very musical.
Weakness:
Too damn heavy! I have one word for this sub and that is (AMAZING). This sub is one of the best subs I have ever heard for $1300. This sub plays damn loud, deep and it does it with no distortion or boom. This sub is just plain smooth and tight. Similar Products Used: M&K MX-125, Paradiagm PW-2200, |

Strength:
Plays loud with virtually no distortion.
Weakness:
Heavy Hi! it's me again with a head to head comparison between the Mirage BPS-400 and the Paradigm Servo 15. I bought the Mirage BPS-400 and I am very satisfied with, but I was curious about the Paradigm Servo 15, thus I went out to see what I was missing or not. The first thing I noticed from the Paradigm Servo 15 was it's ability to play loud and deep, but it did not blend in with the main speakers as good as the Mirage BPS-400 subwoofer. Another thing I noticed from the Servo 15 was that it tended to colour voices alittle to much unlike the Mirage BPS-400 with did not even attempt to colour or ruin anything in the midrange, in fact the Mirage's midrage range sounds damn realistic compared to over backed bloat from the Paradigm Servo 15. The Paradigm Servo 15 always seemed to intrude on voices. The last thing I noticed between the Mirage BPS-400 and the Paradigm Servo 15, was that the Mirage BPS-400 sub tended to go deeper in the bass than the Paradigm Servo 15 with no distortion to detect, where as the Servo 15 tended to distort a bit at loud low freqs. Ever since the A B comparsion, I tended to appreciate the Mirage BPS-400 subwoofer even more. Although the Paradigm Servo 15 is great subwoofer, it just can't touch the Mirage BPS-400. The Mirage BPS-400 seems to outclass the Paradigm Servo 15 in every respected area. Similar Products Used: M&K MK-125 MKII, Paradigm PW-2200, Paradigm SERVO 15, |

Strength:
Very Loud, deep and accurate bass with virtually no distortion
Weakness:
Heavy I was looking for the best subwoofer for under $1000. Other products I used before the BPS 400 was the velodyne ct 120 and have listened to the HGS 10. Let me tell you its a big difference. The BPS 400 plays louder, deeper and more accurate then the velodyne. I even considered the energy es xl 18 but it was out of my price range ($1400). And alot bigger. But I heard it was a little louder and it goes a little deeper like 14 hertz where as the BPS it goes down to 16 hertz. But in my opinion overall its the BEST subwoofer in any price range. So if you are in the market for an AWESOME sub be sure to visit your mirage dealer. (by the way I dont work for mirage). Similar Products Used: velodyne |
