Strength:

tight bass,finish,no boominess,warranty.

Weakness:

none

I got a demo for $399.00. Very tight bass. Good with music as well as movies. I have it set up in the corner of a 22 x 13 feet room & it has no problem filling the room. This sub is not for people who like sloppy, boomy & inaccurate bass. Even my wife can appreciate the tightness of bass with this sub.

Strength:

Punchy for a small sub

Weakness:

Initally was a pain to setup

This is for the asw100. Its loud enough for me in a 10x20 room at 120W with the gain up to nearly half.

Strength:

integrates well with the MA silver series main speakers. if you listen primarily to music and require a sub, this is the one. The phase adjustment is about the only thing going for this speaker.

Weakness:

whimpy bass for home theater even if you live in a shoe box (don't even think about a gym). you'll need two of these or better yet the ASW 210 (this product should be discontinued). Noisy amp (even after replacement amp). Can't defeat the crossover (most AV gear have crossovers built in these days)

if you're looking for a home theater sub, this is not the one. try watching the intro to toy story 2 or any battle scene in saving private ryan. even for the folks (this includes me) who don't need to rattle the neighbors walls three blocks away, this is still a whimpy sub. Company support is mediocre at best. I received a replacement amp for my ASW 110 sub because the original one was humming (new one dodn't fix the problem BTW). The amp was very poorly packed and arrived with bent cooling fins and one edge was smashed in where the bolt hole is. MA didn't want to replace the amp because this didn't affect the sound. Give me a break! I scratched one of the (black) speakers and tried to get a little touch up paint. After getting "I don't know" answers from Monitor Audio USA, I contact the british company and still couldn't get touch up paint. Try sending an email on the web site. I got a response 3+ months after sending the message. The only person who really knows what he's talking about is Bruno and you have to call him on the telephone and be lucky enough to catch him in the office. It's little things like this that turn me off about a company, no matter how good the product. IMHO, this is a two bit operation.

Monitor Audio does seemingly nothing to protect consumers' investment in these speakers. Though I did get a decent deal at my local dealer, the used value of these speakers is driven into the ground by all of the people on Yahoo Shopping and eBay whoring theses things out for what seems to be dealer cost or below (if that's possible). I've owned other speakers and have sold them used. I fully expect to loose money in this sort of transaction but this was rediculous. I did manage to minimize minimize my loss on the sale, though.

Strength:

Tight integrated bass, small size

The ASW110 is part of a Home Theater system with the Silver 5's, Silver 3 rear speakers and Silver Centre 10. At first I thought the single 10" driver would not be enough. Amazing home theater low frequency bass. At 1/2 gain, the whole couch vibrates with tight, incredibly well controlled and integrated bass. Room size is about 18 x 19' and this subwoofer is more than adequate. The whole Silver series of speakers from Monitor is incredible in their price range, and beautiful to look at. Very happy with them.

Strength:

tight and accurate

Weakness:

none yet

This baby is tight. The case in piano black is standard, but with the gold driver exposed, it adds class and style visually as well as in the nether regions of bass. Most subs are loud and deep, and that's fine, but to really be convinced you're there, a tight, accurate sub is the only way to go. never distorts, even when fed high levels. Great for music as well as home theater. For the price, there are many decent subs, but this impressed me with it's accuracy and ability to disappear. Give it room in the back, and make sure your crossovers are set right, and listen to the material. A pleaseant quality compared to distorted overemphasized bass, which makes this a perfect mate for high-end stand mounted speakers.

Price & speed

Weakness:

none to me ...some people that are used to sloppy bass might not like it..but only because they've never heard good clean bass like this

Oh wow ....this is a hell of a great find...thanks to everyone who reviewed this sub & convinced me to try it. I went to this site to research subs & everyone mentioned how fast this sub was...they were right. I've tried a few other subs in the same price range(& above)with my magnepan smg's & none of em were that great with music (only the velodyne hgs 10 but it's $1600). Just about any sub sounds ok with dvd action movie sound effects but I was never very happy when playing music...I could never get a sub to match well with my maggies. But low & behold ...surprize, surprize, I'm actually really happy with this little wonder. I found a store demo that was only $450 so it was already broken in & sounded great after only a short time of fiddlin with it. My Maggies go down to 50 hz but I found the sub to become tranparent in my living room crossed over at about 78hz. My room is an odd shape with one side open to the kitchen & when I'm in certain spots the bass in unbearably loud...other places I get a reflection from highs like cymbols & things... there's no way of getting around this for me. But when I'm in my normal listening position the sub really blends in with the maggies already amazing soundstage & really enhances it. Jun for the fun of it I put the sub through hell & played it way louder than I should have to see what it would do...& it does alot. Shakes the whole place if your into that. I normally set the volume to
about 4.5 & thats plenty of bass for me with lots of room to play if you have bigger speakers than mine. It would take a hell of a system to need anything bigger though. To sum it up ...in my listening area it works seamlessly.
