Plenty good for the $$$. It does require changing the volume depending on the type of music or movie. Customer Service It just keeps on working. The remote died after about 5 years. |

Strength:
Price, power, solid build quality.
Weakness:
Might not be as tight or deep sounding as other 12" subs. I have the RCA version of this sub, which is identical except they took out the remote control for the volume. Good sub for the price, which is $199. It was on sale for $149 so I couldn't pass it up. It doesn't go as deep as more expensive 12" subs, maybe down to the 30-35hz range. It could also be a little tighter, but for the price, I won't complain. Similar Products Used: JBL G-SUB 10 |

Weakness:
Cant find any yet when neighbors stop complainming then i will find one mabe Iam very satisfied. My first day trying it out a neighbor noton my street but the street over almost called the cops on me. I put in sme 2 livecrew just for testing purposes :-) She was pissed. I recommend anyone buying one of these you cant beat the price. I am using a JVC dolby digital receiver onkyo front speakers and pioneer surround. I now have over 900 watts of sound. Life is grand............ Similar Products Used: missing a center channel to complete sound systen wish me luck. mroyusa |

Strength:
good buy
Weakness:
no thumping Well i got this sub over a year ago, and its been awesome. its a great sub for the money, but i do notice it has more quantity than quality. If you really into quality, then spend more, but for the price it puts out some nice sound. I was comparing the quality with a cerwin vega 12" 150 watt. that sub produced more ''thumping'' or however it was decribed, but still didnt have the power mine has. Strength:
cost, remote volume control, gold plated screw connectors, low distortion (<.1% at 180 watts), speaker quality (2" dual voice coil, 30 oz magnet)
Weakness:
sometimes not "punchy" enough, doesn't go much below 32 hz I picked this subwoofer up for $200, discontinued at Radio Shack. Nothing in this price range even comes close to the performance of this subwoofer. The amplifier is rated at 200 watts rms, 350+ watts peak with less than 0.1% total harmonic distortion at 160 watts (...find me a 200 watt powered subwoofer with that low of distortion below $600...). The speaker has a 2" dual voice coil and a 30 oz magnet...not the best in the world, but very good regardless. Other features include a variable crossover from 50-150 Hz, speaker inputs, and a cool volume remote (servomotor volume dial). Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
major BOOM for the dollar. Remote control to turn DOWN the woofer when you realize the house is shaking.
Weakness:
for the price, none yet. If reaching down to that vital 16-25 Hz frequency range is no big shakes, then there are no flaws. I haven't had this product for a week and I am totally satisfied with this woofer for my home entertinment center. I did not intend to spend over three hundred doolars for a powered subwoofer. And let's face it, sometimes people must buy them for over that price just to say they did. This is all one needs for any BASIC home theater. My "Terminator 2" soundtrack and Paul Oakenfold CD's have taken on new life that they could not have otherwise be enjoyed. DVD's will be enjoyed to a par that has come to be expected from that medium. The woofer's performance has erased what *little* regret I had paying only $199. |

Over-priced, boomy (needs sound dampening materials severly), and not competetive with other products of the same price and lower. The only two saving grace is the remote and the Radio Shack warranty but even this won't really save this since it doesn't go low enough for a truly visceral fun. I don't know if this would sound better if you replace the woofer but I bet if you use more sound dampening material it would be a much better sub. The sad fact is you can buy the passive SW-14P and their PA amp and have a cleaner sounding sub cheaper when they are on sale. Sad fact is there are worse subs out there than this so I can't give it the one speaker it deserves. |
