Strength:

Great for Music. Great for Movies. Clean, loud and tight

Weakness:

None

I have to agree with James. I haven't experienced any of the anomolies the other three gentlemen noticed. This thing produces fast, tight ,clean bass extending well into the subsonic region. It blends seemlessly with my mains and surrounds. This is a excellent, versatile sub. I have no regrets.

Strength:

All I have to say is that I was SOOOOO IMPRESSED, I went and bought another one!!! Need I say more??

Weakness:

Rather large but remember you are buying a subwoofer after all...

If you guys think one Servo-15 hits hard now, try imagining what it sounds like with two in one room, one on each side of the room!!!

STRONG,CLEAN TIGHT BASS

Weakness:

SEPERATE CONTROLLER CAN BE CUMBERSOME

I HAVE BEEN USING THIS UNIT FOR ABOUT THREE MONTHS, AND LIKE MOST OF THE OTHER REVIEWS POSTED, I CAN ONLY RAVE ABOUT IT! UNTIL I PURCHASED THIS UNIT, I HAD BEEN USING A PAIR OF INFINITY KAPPA 8'S, VINTAGE 1989 AS THE MAIN SPEAKERS ALONE. THESE SPEAKERS ARE CAPABLE OF RESPECTABLE AMOUNTS OF FAIRLY DEEP BASS ON THEIR OWN HOWEVER,I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR WHAT I HEARD WHEN THE SERVO 15 WAS SET UP AND PLAYING.THE LOW END EXTENSION NOW SEEMS ALMOST BOTTOMLESS,BUT WITH GREAT DETAIL. I AM NOT A BASS FREAK, BUT GOOD STRONG CLEAN BASS IN THE RIGHT AMOUNTS MAKES WHATEVER YOU ARE LISTENING TO MUCH MORE SATISFYING. NO MATTER WHAT I PUT THROUGH THIS UNIT,MUSIC OR MOVIES, IT HANDLES EVERYTHING WITH PERFECT CONTROL. NO BOOMINESS, NO SLUGISHNESS. I HAVE READ REVIEWS THAT STATE THIS UNIT DOES NOT PRODUCE QUITE ENOUGH BASS OUTPUT. IF I CHOOSE TO I CAN MAKE THE WINDOWS RATTLE AND KNOCK PICTURES OFF THE WALL,BUT AFTER A CERTAIN POINT TOO MUCH BASS BECOMES JUST NOISE,AND CONTRIBUTES NOTHING TO THE ENJOYMENT OF WHAT YOU ARE LISTENING TO. IF ALL YOU WANT IS LOUD THEN LOOK ELSEWHERE.

THE ONLY MINOR NEGATIVE POINT IS THE SEPERATE CONTROL UNIT. THE HIGH AND LOW PASS CONTROLS, AND LEVEL CONTROL ARE ON THIS UNIT. SOMETIMES FINDING A PLACE TO PUT IT CAN BE A PROBLEM, AFTER PLACEMENT OF THE MAIN UNIT. IF HOWEVER, YOU CHOOSE TO RUN STRAIGHT FROM THE LFE JACKS OF YOUR RECEIVER, THERE IS A LEVEL CONTROL ON THE BACK OF THE MAIN UNIT ALSO, SO YOU CAN DO AWAY WITH THE CONTROL BOX IF YOU SO DESIRE.IF HOWEVER YOU MUST USE IT, THAT'S JUST A FEW MORE WIRES TO HIDE.

BUILD QUALITY AND FINISH IS FIRST RATE. IT EMITS NO HUM AND IS COMPLETELY SILENT WHEN RUNNING. IT HAS AUTO SHUTOFF AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES, AND WHEN IT DETECTS A SIGNAL, POWERS UP PROMPTLY. NO MATTER WHAT YOU PREFER, MOVIES OR MUSIC OR BOTH, GIVE IT A LISTEN. YOU WON'T FIND A BETTER SUB AT THIS PRICE LEVEL, OR FOR QUITE A BIT MORE FOR THAT MATTER.

Strength:

Deep extension, power to spare, clean bass

Weakness:

Large and heavy

The Paradigm Reference Servo-15 is a wonderful subwoofer at a phenomenal price. It outputs tons of deep bass cleanly and unobtrusively. You can certainly hear and feel the bass, and yet it doesn't draw attention to itself. However, turn it off and you know right away something's missing. :)
It also doesn't hurt that it costs half as much as a Velodyne HGS-15/18.

Highly recommended.

Strength:

goes as low as any test tone cd can make it- no distortion

Weakness:

price

I have TWO SERVO 15's and use Boston Acoustic vr975 tower speakers. The subs can handle any frequency down to 5 hertz and no distortion. Great impact for movies, when things blow up, the whole house shakes as though the explosion happened in my yard. I got one sub initially, thought that two would be better.... not that much actually. I tend to like impact and my floor standing speakers and subs are all sealed enclosures... SO, I guess I am going to need a ported 12 or two. BTW, you need a huge room for these subs as it takes a distance for the sinewaves coming out of them to become audible. I find that they slam at 24 feet back, but 10 feet away, much less slam. If I had it to do all over again, maybe I would have purchased 4 or 6 ported subs, a combination of 10's and 12's. Nothing wrong with the servo 15's, just didnt get quite what I hoped for. I guess I may have been a little misinformed when I made my purchase- not really the subs fault. I have to mention that any lesser sub could never hit the teeth rattling low frequencies that this sub delivers.

Strength:

Flat to < 20Hz. Great sounding, tight, very responsive, quick bass.

Weakness:

None

This is an excellent subwoofer! It has very useful, tight bass down to less than 20Hz. This was the best subwoofer that I found for less than $2500. It X30 crossover is great, and allows one to adjust the phase of the subwoofer relative to the front left/right speakers, and allows the low-pass crossover frequency to be adjusted precisely.
An excellent subwoofer!

Strength:

Clean, Tight Bass! Verry Powerfull

Weakness:

none

I have read most of the reviews and anybody who doesn't give this sub high ratings is crazy. I have two of these monsters in the corner of my livingroom with the volume set about 1/4 up and they ROCK! I am using the LFE output from my Lexicon to cross them over at 80 htz.I compared tis sub to the new Velodyne 15 and this sub was more powerfull with very tight and accurate bass. If all you care about is low bass rumble then don't buy this sub. If you want a sub that sounds as good with movies as it does with music than this is the sub for you. I also want to mention that I have never heard any noise or gear sound coming from my subs. I have never been able to hear the servo mechanism kick in. All I hear is lots of awsome, clean, tight, ass kickin BASS

Strength:

Tight, powerful, clean and very cinematic bass.

Weakness:

After a year, i haven't foudn any!

I wrote a review earlier, that the Servo15 wasn't good on the midbass, and should only be used with large frontspeakers. That's not right! Just throw the X-30 crossover away, connect the sub directly to the LFE-out on the reciever, set all speakers to small and you won't have to go to a real cinema ever again!

If you use the X-30 together with the recievers crossover,it won't sound good, and the bass will sound very thin. But if you connect it right, then I would say that you can't find a better sub! Not even the THX-certified M&K models.

Strength:

Unlimited, massive, tight, clean, deep bass. Size. Looks (if you like large black boxes :)

Weakness:

Can seems slow on dance music. Size. Looks (if you don't like big black boxes)

When I got this I couldn't get over the size of it, but after some minor furniture removal it blends in quite well, but for really small rooms this would definitely be overkill.
Richer Sounds kindly neglected to include either the X30, lead, or working power lead (it had a canadian plug on it!) but luckily I had sufficient spare to get it up and running, and am I ever glad I did.
This sub really will go louder than the vast majority of people will ever want or need. You will find that you hear bass where you thought there was none. Films become more cinematic, music has more depth and impact.
My one bugbear is that it can seem to slow the pace of dance music -very- slightly, but this could also be a result of the floor that it's sat on reverberating after the beat.
For the price I paid I really don't think there is anything out there that could possibly compare to this subwoofer.
