Strength:
very loud, great for music
Weakness:
none really so far... as soon as i figure out the adjustments Bought this sub from my work about a week ago for my dorm room. I haven't moved in yet but I know I won't be able to turn it up loud at all, this will shake my whole side of the house. Very loud sub for the price paid. I've mostly just listened to music, but watched a few movies. Very good for music, and movies too, but at some scenes it's a little boomy and overwhelming (i'm sure i can fix with with adjustments). I'm sure I will be very pleased with this sub and definitly worth the 130 bucks. |

Strength:
Powerfull enough for a small auditorium. Detailed sound at moderate to high volume. Decent frequency responce (for most listeners) Front firing for nice impact.
Weakness:
Visually umimpressive Port design lends to sudden fall off below tuned frequency. Crossover set too narrow (would have liked to cross over at 40Hz or less) Boomy at high volume levels. Loud port noise and very high volume near resonant frequency I guess I am a true audiophile with the casual listener's budget. That said, I bought the Sony sub mainly for the price. The sound quality is very good, but the shear power and air movement this sub produces is the real draw. I would have prefered the frequency range to be lower, but 24Hz is more than adequate for the quality of sound and the price of the unit. As others say the design (not desing) of the unit is very unflattering, but like that person you know with the great personality, the performance more than makes up for it. If you want great sound, decent frequency responce, and good pricing, this sub is my highest recommendation. I am VERY pleased with it. |

Strength:
Clean and tight thundering bass for an incredible low price. Very good performance vs. other brands. auto power off and easy to reach back volume level controls.
Weakness:
No banana plug in for speaker terminals and weak desing I'm always looking for the best brands like JBL,Velodyne,AR,Infinity,Cerwing-Vega and Bose just to name a few. I have 3 A/V receivers in my house and I was looking for a sub for my bedroom. But I didn't want to spend to much money. So I order this Sony sub on the internet and when it came home and I put it to work I was running for cover, it almost tear apart my room and put my $700 Definitive and my $600 Velodyne sub almost to shame. Serious I'm not making a hype here, this ugly black box is that damn good. I don't know how Sony is selling this sub at such a low price (well is ugly). So far I have not experience any distortion problems. Also DTS and Dolby Digital tracks works with amazing depth and sonic impact. Strength:
exellent sound for a $200.00 subwoofer even better than other leading brands in this category and price range
Weakness:
Ugly desing but hey what else can you expect for $200.00 If your looking for a powerful sub with great sound but don't have enough money the Sony SA-WM500 150w 12inch subwoofer won't disappoint. To be honest I have 2 other subwoofers from Cerwin-Vega and Klipsch and this Sony sub is worth a rival. The only donwside is the ugly desing.
