Strength:

Fast, accurate, earth-shaking bass. Solid design

Weakness:

If you're cramped for space--the size. If not, there is nothing wrong with it at all

I'm a bit of a compulsive shopper, so I have a tendency to buy and return more than I should. I was in the market for a sub and wanted to KEEP the sub. I did research and checked out audioreview for a little over three weeks and decided on this sub without hearing it. I'm 20 years old and this is one of my better purchases. I did not have a problem dropping 550 dollars for this sub, and I know I don't make even 1/15th of what some of the guys do that review products on this site with their high-end systems. I would actually get another one. My amp has yet to come in, so I have it hooked up as a main speaker with one of my Klipsch RF-3's. Because of no amp, I have yet to try movies, but music is awesome, awesome, awesome. I downloaded a THX bass test and it just rocks my world with the volume 1/3 up. I cannot wait to get the amp to hear movies and make the music even louder. For those of you in the market for a sub that have heard or read reviews on subs, you get a lot of this --"great for home theater, ok for music". In other words, almost any half ass sub will be awesome for movies. This one is great for music. It fills the room like a tidal wave. I'm not kidding. One thing that I have noticed as well is that you cannot tell where the bass is coming from, despite it's size. It comes from all around you, not a direct path from the tube. Amazing. Go get one. You won't regret it. It comes with a money back guarantee. Not a bad price either for handmade.

Strength:

performance,price,percussion,..........WOOF!!!!!!

Weakness:

none so far

I recieved this sub about a month ago. After trying a few different locations, I went for the right front corner of my room, close to my main. I then set it up with the radio shack SPL meter. With all my speakers set to small, I chose a few dvd's, Toy Story 2, Antz, Saveing Private Ryan. I found out after watching these movies, that this sub can REALLY deliver deep, clean, bass. It will hit you fast and hard, and then it is gone. No, it wasn't a "religous experince", but I must say, this is truly one of the BEST subs out there!! And at the price, I feel they can't be touched!!!! Service from the company reps,Tom and Ron, has been nothing but first class. I can't help but to give there sub 5 stars..........

Strength:

Flat, Strong, Deep Bass

Weakness:

Need to adjust your perception of "quality" bass

First, the $1300.00 price tag was because I purchased 2 16-46 subs and a Samson 700 amplifier.

I also want to qualify this review, my equipment is made up of mid-fi type equipment but my room is 14,000 cu ft.
I was looking for a sub that could fill the room with strong low level base that matched well with my main speakers (Klipsch Chorus II's). I was using a Klipsch SW12II sub and was pleased with it but it doesn't produce the low level bass I was looking for. After reading all of the reviews on Home Theater Forum about these subs, I thought I would take the chance. I never purchase equipment over the net, much less speakers I can't audition.
Once I got the subs set-up correctly and calibrated I ran through the usual DVD's - Matrix, The Haunting, U571 and Toy Story2. These subs produced the cleanest, strogest bass I have ever heard ! My old Klipsch could play loud but never at the depths of these subs. Explosions, engines, anything that produced sounds lower than 30hz were just a joy to listen to - and feel ! But even more impressive, (to me), than reference level bass was listening to these subs at lower levels with music or even TV ! The bass was so smooth and strong it was pleasure to listen to.

Customer service has been nothing short of amazing. Ron and Tom of SV Subwoofers (the owners), have helped both pre and post sale. These guys don't only build great subwoofers, but they truely want thier customers to be happy with thier purchase !

I HIGHLY recomend SV Subwoofers.

Strength:

Volume of bass for home theatre, yet refined bass for music

Not much I can add based on the reviews already here. I have a pair of 16-46CS's with the 700 watt Samson amp, all for about $1250 USD if I recall, from the good folks at SVS. My room is pretty large, about 8000 cubic feet, and the bass is something to behold.

And you simply cannot beat the service from Tom and Ron. No matter how many questions you have, they are all answered promptly.

I cannot imagine anything else that anywhere near approaches the value and performance of this product. In any head to head comparison I have ever read, SVS has kicked the butt of everything out there. So look no further, buy this product.

This sub has to be heard to be believed. It puts other subwoofers at 2ce its price to shame. SVS will definitly have an edge on the future Subwoofer market. I received my Subwoofer, Carefully packed to the Gills, so it wouldnt be damaged. It took about a half hour to unpack it, but I knew it was for the good of the equipment. I hooked it up with NO troubles and popped in Terminator 2. The custom T2 THX Logo sent a tone out that has to be heard. At certain times the Bass is so natural and clean that it blends in soooo perfectly that you cant even hear the subwoofer working. Other Subs in this price range just eminate low Frequencys with no real shape. SVS Provides, Obscenely low frequencies with incredible shape and range. I would recommend SVS subs to anyone and everyone who is a Basshead and has an ear for quality. Customer service is unlike anything I have ever experienced from...well....anywhere. Cordial, polite, and always willing to right any wrongs. I was given honest opinions and never pushed to buy anything I didnt want, in fact I was told I could return something if I just didnt feel fit to use it. Its been a pleasure dealing with them. In fact I just purchased a Twin for my 16-26CS. You just cant have too many :)
