This is to help those out with set up but may not be for everyone. I have the sub. in a corner facing outwards. A pair of 5.0m Vampire Wire CCCII's make the connection. (To the low level inputs on the sub.) I'm using the second pair of pre-outs on the A.A. DLC to do this. If you don't have two sets of pre-outs, you can pick up one of two prs. of solid splitters from Vampire Wire (Or similar) that will do the job. If you are using large full range speakers as I am, there is no need to run a return pair of cables. It is better not to! Placement of the sub. depends on your room but do go with wireing method. I have listened to a lot of other subs. out there but in side by side A/B/C testing (when possible) this sub. was better than any subs. near its' price, better than some more expensive subs. and gave other far more expesive subs. a run for "their money". And to clarify my puchase ... I bought a demo w o blemishes. And as you could see I rated the sub. as 5 stars for value not 4. This is one sub. that does music well.

Strength:

Strong bass, lower extension, high quality amp and controls, size no problem.

Weakness:

Packaging weak, only corner pieces used, could've used some side inserts.

I jumped on two subs this past weekend, and the CT-150 was the first. This sub is being used on the high-level inputs from a B-set of speaker jacks on a stout older Yamaha RX750 stereo receiver. While not as "fine" as line (low) level inputs, the output is still quite impressive. Distortion is very low, and harmonics are few, something of a rarety in a ported cabinet. I Love It! I retired a five year old Optimus Pro-SW10 (10" with 100 watts) to make room for the Velo, and the difference in the deeper bottom end is night and day. With the keeper Paradigm PS-1200 in the other corner working on one of the sub outputs from my Yamaha DSP, I'm getting a healthy cross-fire of bass! This sub represents a great value for the money, right where most folks are working the budget. Definately give the CT-150 an audition! This sub will serve as the stand/base for the other unit, a backordered MX150 from M&K, which will take up the other sub output on the DSP. ROCK ON! Tres' Subs in the living room! Yes! & Yes,Again! BTW, I did put small rubber footies on the bottom of the Velo, and then placed the sub on top of some decorator style gray walkway bricks (Home Depot), to get this big boy off of the carpet just a tad. Reason one is to decouple the sub a bit, and two is to keep the bottom finish of the cabinet decent. Give this subwoofer some serious consideration. Matched with five good satelites of your preference, a 5.1 system could be put together for around $1500 to $1700 that is very, very good for the money. (NHT/Paradigm/KEF/Energy/Polk/Monitor Audio/Klipsch all come to mind)

Strength:

verrry deep powerful tight hard hitting bass!!!

Weakness:

damn i can't explain to all you out there how good this subwoofer sounds! The bass is incredible, it fills up the room more than enough, the bass is just crazy, even at low volumes you can still feel and hear how deep the bass is! i heard a lot of subs inclluding the HGS series velodyne and there isn't much difference except the HGS might look better, but on sound, there both damn pretty close, i don't even have to adjust my volume up at all and the bass is so deep and clean. I listen to a lot of musc including, trance, techno, 80's, some rock, r&b, hip-hop, freestyle, and damn the bass will simply make your brain head shake, it's so damn powerful, i can even feel and hear the deep bass when im outside my house, the whole house literally shakes from this wondeful piece of equipment. Velodyne really knows how to make a killer ass subwoofer. If you have the money go and get yourself one. You won't regret it at all. And by the way its also incredibly good with movies... heh, but since i listen to more music with this sub then watch movies, i would like to let you all know this sub is one kick ass sub for music...

he is a little overweight but what do u expect from someone who sits around all day? dont put it to loud or u will have a headache for the rest of the day!!!!!!!!

This sub kicks em all to the curb i mean it is truely awesome i have had it for almost 2 months now and never once has it bottomed out or anything like that when i was watching enemy at the gates i had to turn it down because it was shaking the sh** outa everything and i couldnt even hear wut the people were saying or doing. Just like the time i was sleeping and i thought it was thundering outside because my bro was playing madden 2001 for ps2 witch is also a great product. And the thing that amazed me was when the thing froze my ps2 from the vibration and the ps2 was across the room. but one bad thing is this thing will overheat if u put it to loud for to long and another thing that is a bad but in a good way is the bass is so strong it will make ur cd player skip!!!!!! if u r considering it get it as fast as u can dont think twice u wont regret it!!!!!! if this thing was 1000 i would have still bought it its that good! and dont listen to what people say its not slow

Strength:

Power! Deepness!

Weakness:

cheap glue on feet- manual is pretty lame

I traded my CT80 for this sub to go in my living room. I have a pretty large area to cover..and the DCM sub did not have it (only 100w). This sub rocks! HT and music. It shakes my walls and sounds clean. Granted.. it my get a bit boomey at times..but what do you expect from a 15"?

I definatley recommend this sub to anyone. I compared it to many other subs_ M&K,Polk,Infinity,PSB,Sunfire,Boston...and took home the ct150 and save some bucks :)

Power, strength, adjustability, BASS!!!

Weakness:

Size & weight, but what can u do? Manual. Possible quality control problems.

This is a great subwoofer. It really thumps, Sad but true on Metallica's Black album is awesome with this beast. For me it is the best subwoofer that I could possibly hope to afford. I got a terrific deal on it too, girlfriend works @ Future Shop. It has all the controls that you could want and more. Although the manual doesn't explain them very well at all---> luckily internet does. I would have rather had two front tube ports than the one slot port but that's purely looks on my part. Velodyne may want to look into their quality control. I had to have my CT150 replaced twice. First one I got was damaged (cooling fins were bent and front grill was partially broken) most likely dropped at some point and the second one had a buzz even when there was no program material. Luckily I got a third one which is working perfectly. I also got a 9 year extended warranty so I'm going to crank the hell out of it all the time. So on to my ratings. Well it's not perfect and I did have to get 3 of them to get a "good" one so a full value rating but only a 4 overall.

Strength:

Ungodly power, clean sound, relatively light weight.

Weakness:

Takes a lot of floor space, but what do you expect?

Although I bought mine below manufacture's cost, the CT-150 is worth every penny of its retail price tag. When you want a reliably powerful sub that won't leave you with embarassing distortion when entertaining your guests, the CT-150 doesn't let you down. Aside from its reliablity, the CT-150 produces rich, deep, rumbling bass that makes you feel like a king. When I first used my Velodyne, I under-estimated its power and had picture frames fall from walls in the other rooms. Now my whole house is padded with tacky clay. The CT-150 gives you more power than you can handle, and with the well established, trusted Velodyne name you can't go wrong. The CT-120 is also a great substitute to the 150's hefty price tag. If you can afford it, and it matters enough to you, buy it.

Strength:

great sound/price

Weakness:

huge cabinet

Solid construction with 250 watt rms amp.
Uses current sensing servo to minimize distortion.

The bass is clean and clear. I use it primarily
for home theatre but it also sounds great with music.
You can't beat this for under $700.
This sub GOES LOW! It's a good match with my system.
I set the bass around 3 and keep the LFE on my Yamaha
around -5 to -7.

System Configuration:
Yamaha RX-V995 receiver
Toshiba SD-3108 DVD player
Klipsch KSB 3.1 fronts
Klipsch KSC-C1 center

This is a Good dedicated Home Theatre Sub woofer. IT is Very powerful! and packs an awsome punch. I have knocked pictures off the wall with this sub and it shakes the hole house. This sub lacks in the music area with its low accuracy but it kicks with the movies. For $799 retail you can't go wrong with this sub for your home theatre. I give this sub 4 stars for it's value and power.

Strength:

-very good blend to main speakers.
-smooth low extended bass to 20hz
-good for both music and home theatre

Weakness:

-size- but then, that is the design, so not really a weakness

This sub is a very powerful piece of equipment that stands above those in its price range. It might be as good as its other velodyne ranges but hell its close!

Just watched the Patriot on dvd and bass quality is excellent. Clear and transparent. You never know its there!

FOR THE REVIEW BELOW:
The audio/video switch is for what purpose you are going to use the sub for so you can switch it to audio or video. Its very handy because in movies the bass output is greater then it is needed for bass, to have that movie impact/experience. This switch increases the bass output by 3 decibels...i;m sure its says that somewhere in the manual.

What can say ? This sub can really blow you away!!

My system:
- Yamaha A3090 Amp
- Bob Carver 1.5 power amp
- Jamo concert system except sub.
- Toshiba sdk-330 dvd
- Velodyne Ct-150
- Van Den Hul MC Magmum cable
