Strength:
covers low end well
Weakness:
not enough db output I picked this up at a pawn shop for $110 so I can't complain about the price. Knowing this subwoofer was meant for a Stereo system, I connected to the sub output on my digital amp with a "y" connector so that I could use both channels of the amp. I have to check it out with a scope, but either the speaker is blown or the amp is clipping because on real loud low passages, the speaker sounds like it's distorting. I have to have my volume at 3 o'clock (loud) like others on this board have posted. I keep the crossover at max and let the amp do the work. |

Strength:
Good Tonal Quality
Weakness:
Designed for music, and does not work well with surround video I've never followed with a second review, but some of the other reviews have me quite concerned. This sub was Lab Tested and performs cleanly at 37 Hertz and has punch down in the 27 Hertz range. I've used mine for 4 years with none of the problems listed. It will not perform explosion levels, probably because it was designed and introduced before video subs were as prominent. Similar Products Used: JBL, Harmon Kardon, Mirage/Sound Dynamics/Energy |

I recently purchased a Yamaha YST-SW40 subwoofer. I bought it for use with my computer system to enhance the low end of my PC audio experience. For this purpose I have found it to be a superb addition to my setup. I would not use a unit this small for my normal stereo. If you need some decent bass to spice up your gaming experience, this is a great way to go. |

This sub is useless. You'll have to turn up the volume real loud for it to perform the way it's supposed to. The sound itself lacks depth required for a satisfying movie experience. Waste of money... |

Strength:
Tight bass for music listening
Weakness:
Lack of deep bass A purchased this product last Christmas for my HT. I have quite small main speaker and a relatively small room, so this small sub really enhanced the movie sound. I know that compared to other subs it might not be that good, but since it is cheap, it is a good beginners sub adequate for small rooms. |

The sub is absolutely worthless on Pro Logic movies. It doesn't offermuch bass extention to my Celestion ditton 33's (which can handle 28hz). |

Strength:
In a small room this may be o.k.
Weakness:
Lacks power to be considered in a larger room. Quite honestly sold this speaker second hand after owning it for over 18 months.I moved house and had a slightly larger living room and the power of this sub just did not impress me at all. However to be fair at the pricepoint there is not much competition.I would not recommend this sub even as a starter but I would recommend for a very small room.
