Strength:
Customer Service, build quality and clarity of sound.
Weakness:
I can't find any at this price. I purchased a complete reference 7 Klipsch set in 2006. I had the front RF-7's and RC-7 crossovers modified by DeanG. I am very satisfied with the overall sound these speakers make. I use a KRELL SHOWCASE 7 amplifier with an ANTHEM AVM 30 pre-amp. The front speakers are bi-amped for a total of channels. I mainly listen to SACD 5.1 sound and movies.

Strength:
Good clarity, dynamics, presence. I downsized into a townhome and put my big speakers into storage. I checked out eBay, looking for center, surround, and subwoofer speakers that were better suited to the space. I was looking for good speakers--not high end audiophile stuff--but good quality. I searched only for new speakers. I'm not a Bose fan, and it seemed to me that Klipsch and Polk were the best choices for good quality speakers from manufacturers that I knew and that were available on eBay. I wanted to get coverage to 50 - 80 Hz, and a power rating that fit the B & K solid state stero amp that I had on hand (about 200 W/ch).
Customer Service The people at Acoustic Sound Design were very helpful and responsive. They offered me the upgrade to the RS-62 at no extra cost. |

After almost 5 years of 200 watts per channel they sound like new. They are built very well, have great surround capability and look most impressive on your wall.
Weakness:
They ain't mains or bookshelf's,I suppose that's a weakness if you want pinpoint imageing? A really great surround speaker. If you have 5's or 7's and like movies this a good choice,if you have a difficult room it's a great choice.I had rb5's for a while and prefer the rs7's for all around performance.I suppose they would not make good mains as they are a "surround speakers" so any claim the don't sound like rf7's would not be news. Weakness:
Price, Sonic Clarity and build quality. These speakers are only available with cheap black vinyl on the exterior. I purchased the Klipsch RS-7 speakers as part of my Klipsch Home Theatre system, along with the RF-7's and RC-7 speakers. The RS-7 speakers are a bit on the pricy side and do not deliver the same sonic clarity found on the other 7 series speakers. Perhaps due to the unique Wide Dispersion Surround Technology that is now no longer used by Klipsh, these speakers do not sound as good as the rest of the speakers. At $600.00 per pair I expect something very good, these are average at best. |

Strength:
Excellent clarity, plenty loud and they just look so friggin cool!
Weakness:
A bit pricey, but you definitly get your moneys worth out of these. I'm currently upgrading my sound system to a Klipsch RF-7 based system. I have the center and now these, just need the RF-7s now. I love thse things! I immediatley noticed a more open sounding soundfield when I hooked these up. Souround effects are much more defined and noticable. Gunshot effects coming from these nearly make me duck. |

Strength:
crisp, not overbearing highs, strong bass, and visually pleasing (grills on or off)
Weakness:
Very heavy, but driving 12 penny screws into the studs of your walls will suffice. I received these speakers from www.acousticsounddesign.com about a month ago and I must say I was thoroughly impressed with them right out of the box. As soon as they were hooked up, the sound was absolutely amazing. The highs were crisp and by no means were they overbearing (I was actually somewhat afraid they would be because of the two tweeter horns on each speaker) and the lows go deeper and stronger than many surround speakers in this price range. Keep in mind this was before they were officially "broken in." I feel I also should share this experience with you. While these are obviously designed to be surround speakers, I decided to hook them up to the main channel to see what they could do. I ran some very bass intensive tracks through them and the effect was amazing. They had the power to honestly and literally shake the walls. Completely amazing. I want to make one thing perfectly clear, however. The RS-7's are not for you unless you have mains that have at least a 98db or 99db sensitivity rating. I am running these with a pair of Klipsch Cornwall IIs (which have a sensitivity rating of 101db) and they keep up very well. If you have smaller mains or bookshelf speakers, I would probably recommend the Klipsch RS-3 II's for surround. Also, these speakers are incredibly heavy. If and when you buy these speakers the manual says you can use drywall anchors in the wall and hang them from those. If you value your investment, you will not do that. At the absolute least, drive some 3.5 inch screws into the studs in your walls. I would even recommend that you build some sort of shelving for them. They are just that heavy. For the price I got these at, I can't think of a better investment for surround speakers. They are strong, crisp and accurate in their sound production. Just make sure you have the mains to run them with otherwise you will end up turning them down or they will drown out everything else. Included for your reference, I will include the speakers that I am running to give you a general idea of what types of speakers they work well with: Klipsch Cornwall II's (mains) Klipsch RC-7 (center) Klipsch RS-7 (surrounds) Klipsch RSW-10 X2 (subwoofers) Similar Products Used: Bose, JBL, Klipsch, B&W |

Strength:
In contrast to the diminutive, bass-poor units often marketed as surround speakers, the RS-7''s include substantial magnet structures, rigid/low mass driver cones, and a high quality cabinet. They are efficient enough to be well matched with large, full range, high efficiency mains (I use Klipsch RF-7''s), and have respectable power handling capability (I drive them with a B&K Reference 3220 - 220 X 3). Soundfield dispersion, clarity, and dynamic range are really their fortes. For soundfield dispersion, try the introductory battle scene in Gladiator, where the ratcheting sound of the catapults pans smoothly across the rear soundstage. At $635 for a pair (discounted at allhometheater.net), I feel that these are an outstanding bargain.
Weakness:
Actually, I can''t think of any weaknesses. If I had a multichannel SACD or DVD-Audio player, I would probably listen to multichannel music, but given the current price of those products and the uncertainty of the "format war", that''s not an immediate priority. Compared to mass market products, the RS-7''s are a bit expensive, but you get real dipole surrounds, not tiny "bookshelf" speakers. If you want to mount them on the wall, however, substantial hardware will be required. The RS-7''s are very solidly built (unlike the tiny enclosures often sold as surround speakers) with high efficiency and relatively high power handling capability. They are dipole units specifically designed for surround use. The dipole design allows improved soundfield dispersion compared to conventional speakers. I don''t listen to music in any surround mode, so I can''t comment on the musical merits of the RS-7''s. I use them strictly for home theater. Similar Products Used: JBL Studio Series surrounds |
