Strength:
Cheap! Solid construction and flawless exterior mold. Reversible operation. Very clean sound.
Weakness:
Can't be tilted or faced sideways but with the wide soundstage, who cares... When I first saw these speakers I thought they look really modern but most modern speakers from lower end manufacturers are usually crap sound inducing units. The reasons why I got these are the following: It's cheap, got good reviews, and have some very interesting features. I wasn't prepared to find a pair of nice clean sounding speakers for less than $100! Construction is solid and it came with its own wall mount. The size of the drivers are similar to a bookshelf but the enclosure is much slimmer. So it's like having a hanging bookshelf without the box. It's actually not surprising since they are also designed for front use as well. The other mode of operation is diffused so you basically reverse the drivers to face the wall behind them. But most people nowadays won't do this since DD and DTS work better with direct surrounds. The sound is expansive and clean, exactly what I want from any speaker. The only problem with my setup is that they don't match with the Newform R630 fronts. But ribbons can only be matched with other ribbons anyway. In any case, at the retail price they are still a good buy. At the price they're selling on the street, it's the obvious choice. Similar Products Used: Many. I was an ex-demi-audiophile. |
