Strength:
quality of design and materials.
Weakness:
Unit weighs alot because of the all the well made materials used. Excellent picture and sound. I especially like the surround sound feature. Has never broken down since purchase. Hitachi make the best rear projection televisons on the market. Why pat outrageous price for flat screen, unless you really need the room, besides most people buy a stand with the flat screen and end up taking more space in room. |

Strength:
Price overall picture quality (Directv) component input (DVD) lightweight well organized remote
Weakness:
auto-color is terible (can disengage) annoying "Hitachi" emblem on front (I removed) red power light distracting (black tape will solve) This review is for the newer 50DX10B. Owned for one year and am very satisfied with overall performance. Color is adequate as are the features/# of inputs. Overall, a nice projection tv for the money. Now, the negative...pictures are sometimes fuzzy and pixeled during some Directv feeds. The problem is more likely due to Directv than tv. Now for my advise, turn off the auto-color and set the color temp to normal and the theme to movie...and most importantly buy a setup/calibration disc. This will drastically improve picture. I used Sound & Vision's HT calibration disc from BB ($20). Others are Avia and Video Essentials. Also, run all your audio through a A/V receiver..not your tv. Strength:
Size, ease of set up
Weakness:
Manual seems to not be user friendly Well, I just purchased this model today. I attempted to buy at Best Buy but they could not help me out. Wanted a Magnavox 55" but they couldn''t even order it. I picked this one because of the price and the reputation of Hitachi. So far, I like it. Not too hard to set up. Screen is a little jittery with Direct TV Menu, but I will have to keep adjusting the picture until it looks good. So far, so good. Will update later. Similar Products Used: None |
