Exceptional picture when using a progressive scan DVD,3 component/AV inputs,60 watts Dolby Digital with full range speakers, center channel, subwoofer out, magic focus digital convergence.

WOW!!! The picture quality of this DTV is fantastic. I have a Toshiba SD 6200 progressive scan DVD and when viewing an anamorphic dvd movie the images are very detailed with excellent clarity. NOTE: The Pioneer 434 DVD player which claims to be progressive is NOT COMPATIBLE with this DTV. I learned that because it does not do 3:2 pull down. (See similar experiences on Pioneer 434 review on this site)
Interlaced images are also very good and you may not tell the difference from a progressive DVD as this is a full time 480P set but it will pass progressive signal from DVD player.
I already have a AV receiver but when I hooked up the DVD to the coaxial dolby digital input the sound quality was excellent from the built in center channel with full range bass reflex speakers. So if you don't have an AV receiver, all you need is speakers for the rear channel and a powered sub for instant home theater.
When the TV arrived I notice faint circles on the screen. I called Hitachi technical service and they were very helpful. They referred me to a local Hitachi repair shop and they ordered a new screen. It arrived 1 week later and all is well.
When you look at all the features this DTV has to offer it represents an outstanding value. I looked at widesceen DTV like Mitsubishi, Pioneer, RCA, Proscan, Toshiba, Sony and the Hitachi has a better picture. It rivals the Pioneer Elite series in my humble opinion.
I ordered this from an online dealer and you may not find this DTV in local stores as it is new for 2001.
