Strength:
Widescreen, HDTV upgradable, numerous connection options, great picture, and fine cabinet finish
Weakness:
960I line quadrupler needs refinement, no 720P, very heavy at 302 Lbs I've been using this TV for about six weeks now and I am still amazed by the picture quality, especially playing a DVD. The picture is bright, colors are vibrant and black is very black. Edges are sharp and I have noticed very few digital artifacts. Be aware that on broadcast and all VHS/SVHS the low quality of the source will be readily apparent. I compared the WS 55905 to the WS55805 and Panasonic PT56WXF90, plus I looked at Toshiba and Hitachi. The picture of the WS55905 is sharper most noticeably around the edges and my wife much preferred the cabinet for it's almost furniture like finish. The control panel and setup is very easy and flexible and the manual is adequate. I wish there was an option for no onboard speakers, or, a way to configure the speakers to act as a center channel, but I did not find any TV's that offered such a feature. The WS55905 lists for around 5299.00 but I would not pay more than 4499.00. Similar Products Used: N/A |

Great looking picture from DVD and a very nice cabinet. I was also looking at the Panasonic PT-56WXF95 for displaying the 720P but my expericence with their A310 DVD turned me off to them. I have the DVD component out hooked to the 480P input which converts my DVD interlace signal to show at 480P. The picture is very smooth with no obvious interlace errors. Regular brodcast TV is not worth watching on this TV. I have my Sony XBR for that. I can't wait to see how HDTV looks on this. |

Strength:
HDTV upgradable, excellent picture quality-even with std. cable signals. Superb quality with std DVD component system. Nicely finished cabinet.
Weakness:
Lack of good angled viewing. Poor response to IRIS input for ambient room light. I was told that Mitz is the cutting edge for HDTV and it appears to be true for the moment. I looked at the similar TOSHIBA model and initially the Toshiba blew the Mitz away. I then had the service rep calibrate with the AVIA and now there is no comparison. The format for my comparison was the BUGSLIFE DVD. Initially the Toshiba had a much more definition but since the calibration the bugs, rocks etc. just jump out at you from the screen. I would HIGHLY recommend getting someone to calibrate (not just converge) your system for maximum enjoyment. The difference is remarkable. |

16x9 HDTV 1080i upgradable, 480p/960i upconversion, 480p component inputs, seperate A/V settings for each input, 5 A/V inputs (1 on front, 3 on back + the HDTV inputs), IR blaster! GREAT PICTURE!!! Great cabinet design.
Weakness:
Only weekness so far is no 720p support. This is my first RPTV, and I love it! The only other brand I considered was Toshiba (Had a Toshiba 35" tube). After looking around I like the picture quality of the WS55905 the best! With the Diamond Sheild on it looks like a flat panel glass tube set. The picture looks great, and should look even better when I finally get around to adjusting everything! Right now I'm borrowing a DVD that only has S-Video outs and the picture is incredible! I can't wait to see how it looks when I get the Toshiba SD5109 w/ progressive scan 480p component outs!!! The remote is a programable remote that seems to do almost everything I need it to do for the current DVD that I'm using (RCA). |

Strength:
Many imputs including three sets of component video, mulitple picture formats, picture quality, easy to use remote
Weakness:
doing the 64 point convergence can be tedious, have to redo the convergence everytime the power goes out, sometimes red push is too much You are definetely getting bang for your buck with this TV. The picture quality is amazing even with regular satellite TV. I saw the HD demo before i bought it so I know I will be getting when I get a tuner. Picture looks even better with DVD's. Strength:
RED push is so bad it makes you overlook the sets other weaknesses.
Weakness:
RED Push. red push. Terrible reliablitly. bad progrssive scan converter, terrible focusing system. EXPENSIVE EVEN IF YOU TALK HIM DOWN OK, I had three of these tv;s and they all had problems. First the RED PUSH is ridiculous. Too much to comment on, i can't believe how many idiots gave this set a good review. I have seen no less than ten or twelve of these models up and working in showrooms, my house and friend's houses, they all do it! Similar Products Used: Hitachi swx61" awsome set!@ |
