Strength:

This TV is perfect. The picture is unsurpassed for its price range.

Weakness:

None

First off I have to say, I have been searching for a wide screen 16:9 HDTV for about 6 months and was never impressed with what was out there. I looked at the Pioneer Elite series but I thought they were over priced. I compared Toshiba and Sony and neither one came close. When I saw the Mitsubishi WS65907 I knew this was the one to buy. I have a progressive DVD player hooked up to it and you can't get any closer than HDTV than this. The picture quality is fantastic. I have satellite TV, the clarity is not the same but still an awesome picture. Out of the box it does require some convergence adjusting due to shipment which doesn't take that long but once its done you will be amazed. I have no regrets buying this TV and would recommend it to anyone.

premature CRT aging

I bought a Mitsubishi WS65907 in Feb 2001 and paid approximately $4500. The TV after 7 months developed a brown band about 3 inches wide at the bottom of the TV. After calling Mitsubishi's factory service dealer I was informed that this was due to premature aging of the CRT which was caused by watching channels with a logo displayed and a news bar going across the bottom of the screen. We watch no more than 1 hr of news a day and the rest of HBO, Showtime etc. Was informed by service dealer that thois in fact was not covered under the new warranty or extended warranty (which cost $397). Complained to Mitsubishi customer service and was told the same thing. I am stuck with a $4500 TV that is a complete piece of crap. I have had rear projection TV's for over 20 years and never had any problems with either TV's. There is a major design problem with this TV DO NOT BUT THIS TV

"The Promise"

Top of the line for Mitsubishi regarding 65"-16:9 HDTV upgradeable. First of all the set is delivered to your home in two high gloss cabinets so that it fits through the door. It has the latest R&D on the lens elements to give you film-like HDTV images even without the set top box. All connections are Gold-Plated with every type of input/output for your needs. The picture is outstanding. I purchased a "Mitsu" because their focus on Large Screen TV's only and I feel they give you the most value for the money. Once you hook up a progressive scan DVD player the picture only gets better. It looks like you can go up and touch the figures on the screen with so much detail it's really amazing how life-like everything looks. You can change the resolution line from 480i to 920i from the 3-D menu and the TV will go to 480P or 1080i automatically when it senses your source. Also it has component inputs for your DVD,DTV,STB or Satellite. I has the RGB hookup for your computer,HDTV or your Playstation2 as well as 2 or 3 S-Video inputs. It even has a connection to loop your cable box so that you don't have to use one or the other. Mitsubishi has thought of everything and also their word to upgrade regardless of any format changes makes the set a WIN/WIN for both company and consumer. I love the lighted RC for in the dark changes and the TV also has a Automatic "IRIS" to adjust brightness and contrast if you are unsure or don't have a video essentials disc to make you own adjustments. The set has a 6500 kelvin setting to lock in gray scale and if you mess up the convergence it has a reset button to put everything back to factory. This has been my best purchase so far, I can't wait until I get off work every night to get home! I looked at a lot of TV's before this one like Pioneer,Sony,Philips and even RCA/Proscan. I know I have made the best deal. Please before you buy look at Mitsubishi because I know I got my monies worth!

Strength:

Value, Screen Modes, Split Screen PIP w/ Audio Out, Graphical Interface.

Weakness:

Screen protector makes it impossible to watch with any ambient light (I ended up removing and threatening the kids lives if they touch it).

Excellent picture and the screen size for the money was unbeatable. The 5 picture modes allow you to watch standard 4:3 programming without it looking too bad. I don't have access to HD signal, but DVDs blow away my old Proscan.

Strength:

Great picture, easy to tweek/adjust. I bought it in October of 2000, but the HD image still amazes me and anybody who comes and looks at it, and UPGRADABILITY.

Weakness:

Red push, but it's easy to fix with a red push attenuator.

After much research I came to the Mits Diamond, I think they are the best TV for the money, besides the picture quality (the best I've seen after plasma) and the price, what sold me more than anything is the promise by Mitsubishi to offer an upgrade module for compability of future technologies for copy protection.
The TV also looks great with a progressive scan, some times I think I'm watching HD when I watch DVD.
I will buy this TV again if I were to start over. Highly recommend it.
Enjoy

Strength:

Everything this tv has to offer is a 10. The height of the screen is a big plus.

Weakness:

Only one high definition input. Can be solved with a component splitter.

The remote and on screen menu is the industries easiest to use. ATTENTION MARRIED MEN! This is the tv to buy if your wife complains about all the gadgets. If she cannot figure out this tv and menu , she will never figure out any other. This is the easiest to use and has the ergonomics that are unprecidented. Buy the tv and you will have no regrets. Many of my friends have bought other products and regret it after seeing mine. My neighbor thought his toshiba was all that until he saw my mits delivered. A couple of days later he came by and saw the mits and he has been kicking himself ever since.

I did my homework for weeks before maiking this purchase. No other tv had to offer what the Mits does. Best about Mits is three levels of product to choose from according to your needs and depth of pockets.

Strength:

Good corner-to-corner focus, good geometry, excellent user interface, plenty of inputs, allows format control for 480p input (non anamorphic source), 64-point convergence (the best for any manufacturer)

Weakness:

Lousy quality control, 20-30% red push on all input, ringing visable for all source, limited service menu prevents thorough calibration.

Mitsubishi has made a commitment to HDTV. Too bad they haven't made the same commitment to quality control. Out of the box, my 65907 had a lousy picture, harsh and bright, out of focus, a red tint to everything. Hours spend calibrating the set has paid off: a very nice picture, good geometry and convergence. Still, I had to come up with an outboard solution to fix the red push (check http://www.hometheaterspot.com). Anamorphic DVDs, when played on a good progressive player (I have the Sony 9000ES), come very close to true HDTV, but ringing due to white peaking will constantly remind you that you are watching "TV." Mits strength is in the quality of it's lenses, considered the best in the industry. They've come so close in the WS-65907, but sorry, no cigar.

Strength:

- Model year is acutally 2001 -
Amazing picture quality. Easy to use remote. Choice of five different screen modes. Great fit and finish on cabinet. Great corner-to-corner focus, geometry, and excellent user interface. But the best thing (and the reason I purchased this model) is that it splits apart into two components (this is the only widescreen above 40" that I could get down into my basement)

Weakness:

Excessive red push (fixable for component input via external device). Service menu lockouts. I would have liked to have direct access to the inputs from the remote control (This has been overcome thanks to descrete IR codes and my Philips Pronto).

This set is incredible! Combined with my Toshiba SD-6200 progressive scan DVD player, I fell as though I am watching my DVDs for the first time. Color and clarity are vibrant, and sharp. There are times that I forget that I am watching a movie from the comfort of my home!

DVD playback is nothing to a true 1080i High Definition broadcast. I have paired up my Mitsubishi WS-65907 with a Dish 6000 satellite receiver and 8VSB OTA module (thanks to www.dishdepot.com). The HD feed of CBS's primetime lineup has brought me to shows that I never would have watched! ...and theses shows aren't too bad either ;) Sure wish the rest of the major networks would get with the program! Overall, HD-HBO, and HD-Showtime on Dish are fair. I say this, because it seems that the majority of their HD broadcasts aren't true HD, but rather "upconverted" from SD-TV resolution. When they 'do' broadcast tru high-def! WOW! For now, the pay channels have some room improvment.
